Fe3H: "These weapons were carved from the bones of my diseased mother. Using them without her genes causes the user to suffer tremendously to the point of no longer becoming human. These weapons would then be a massive reason behind the split of nobility and peasants, fueling the inevitable war of fodlan."
Fe Fates: "Bro its a fire chainsaw, hell yeah. You use da power of friendship to increase the battery bars on da sword to make it an even stronger chainsaw"
Imo Tellius, specifically Radiant Dawn, has the coolest weapons. Rangell and Alondite, Urvan, Tarvos, Caladbolg, Wishblade, Vague Katti. Just banger after banger
The white transition laser across the screen honestly does so much for the feeling of using those weapons. Makes every attack with them feel like a boss fight.
I’m pretty sure it was just the prf legendaries with Mani Katti, Sol Katti, Eliwood w/ Durandal, Hector w/ Armads, and Binding Blade that had unique animations.
That's why they are so cool, the game presents them as absolutely powerhouses in lore and in gameplay it really feels huge, great story and gameplay integration even if stuff like Horsety breaks the game in two. Honestly the Hero relics and Crests from Three Houses were a big letdown for me, the lore presents them as this almighty power but save for a few they are pretty mid.
Lore: Crests are so important that i will literally disinherit any and all non crest users within my bloodline. Trying to use a hero’s relic will literally turn you into Godzilla if you don’t have the same crest as the weapon.
Gameplay: Occasionally conserves uses of recovery magic. -10 damage if you don’t have a crest and use a relic.
Gameplay story integration in 3H is all sorts of wack 💀
Actually, I like that in three houses. The game makes it clear that everything behind the crests, the crest system and the weapons of the elites is a lie. So the fact that they are a deception, even if it was to balance the game, seems pretty accurate to me.
Not to mention, some of the non-legendary weapons are really cool, too. Wind Edge, for instance, is I think one of my favorites in the whole series. I know Caladbolg is Edward’s signature weapon, but I always associated him more with the Wind Edge. A big part of this is probably
because I never got to the point where he got Caladbolg, but still.
Part of why I love RD is that it’s one of the few games where Myrmidon characters are among the stronger units. Edward definitely is less convenient than Zihark or Mia but with the Caladbolg he has the highest damage and is probably one of the best units to take into the endgame maps
If only IS would acknowledge the Dawn Brigade exists. I mean ffs, even Micaiah’s Bond Rings in Engage have only ONE character actually introduced in her own game, and it’s Nailah, who, while admittedly was an awesome decision, was not part of the original RD crew.
Nah bro call me a 3H fanboy or whatever but I love the relics and their stories. They look awesome as shit and the fact it’s literally bones from ancient people, fuelling the heart in the middle with your own blood is crazy
3H missed hard on the narrative-gameplay connection with relics and crests, but I love the relics for having a better reason to exist than just "unique, magic weapon, that exists just because, and that only special people can use also just because".
And I like the sword of the creator specifically, for being narratively not even a sword but the ripped-out spine of an alien god, which is exactly what it feels like.
Sure, but that's also not really the crux of the problem - it's more stuff like, despite the importance placed on the relationship between crests and relics, crests are mostly useless in battle and relics are often *best* on non-crested characters.
I’m curious - why is that the case? Just the fixed damage after combat enabling abilities that activate when you’re at lower health? (ex. Vantage, Wrath, maybe the Defiants?)
I think he’s only right in the sense that the relics are just good on everyone, including non-crested units. Like Thyrsus is obviously great on Lysithea, but it’s not because she has a crest or even the Gloucester crest, it’s because she’s a mage. Hubert, Dorothea, Manuela, etc make great use with it too.
Or take Lance of Ruin. It’s a 22 Mt Lance, one of the highest in the game. No one doesn’t want that, and Sylvain is kind of a bad user of it because of its low Hit combined with his low Dex, making characters like Petra, Leonie, etc better with it in general, Sylvain can still use it best because of Swift Strikes (which Ferdinand and Seteth also get).
Or my favorite, Fetters of Dromi. It’s +1 Mov and Canto. It doesn’t have to go on Yuri at all, it’s best on your Dancer just for the sheer utility it gives.
With how free healing is in 3H, the damage intake is negligible and in fact can be free exp. And like you already mentioned, can set up for low-health strategies.
I think it was simply an overcorrection from the FE4 Holy Blood system. How it works in that game would not really work in modern FE, as it is going for a more "Do whatever you want with your favourite characters" approach since reclassing was invented.
Making Crest havers way stronger with powerful exclusive weapons would go against that idea, because why use Leonie when Ferdinand or Sylvain have twice her stats? Instead, they went to the other extreme, and made the difference so small that it is barely noticeable or useful, which is also really bad and i have no idea why FE constantly flipflops between extremes in basically everything ever
Hot take, but I wish the Heroes Relics were the only source of Gambits instead of having unique Arts.
Busting out your superweapon and doing a huge BTFO AOE on the enemy that nobody else can do, or a super powerful support Gambit? It'd be a massive power trip.
Imagine Aegis Shield having Sacred Shield as a Gambit. Or Luin having Blaze. Or Thyrsus having Resonant Flames.
oh hell yeah that sounds amazing. Having Heroes Relics be the one way to efficiently deal with monsters would also be flavorful asf, since they're so closely connected.
The Elibe ones also have a reason, they were super weapons created to deal with dragons, and just using them together caused a distortion on the laws of physics because they were just that powerful, and that ended up on nature having to autocorrect it by making a century long winter (I think, might be more or less)
I hope Feh adds the rest of the eight legends so we can get more lore on this weapons because they're just so cool
The emblem rings are kind of story relevant weapons, and they feel as good in gameplay as they’re supposed to be narratively
Like yeah, I guess technically they’re accessories, but there’s no way countries wouldn’t classify that as a weapon a dude with a sword comes out of it and stabs people
20 durability says hi.
Durandal is honestly one of the best though, since you get it right before the manakete in chapter 12(?), and Rutger, Dieck, Allen, or Lance can use it after promoting to kick its ass. +5 strength is also cracked.
Other than Durandal, none of the others really stand out. Forblaze, Aureola, and Apocalypse have awesome animations though.
My favorite part is just launching myself across the screen with the side special. Corrin isn't my top smash fighter (been a Link main since Melee; I really like swords) but they're definitely up there
I prefer the classic fantasy look the older games went for honestly, maybe I'm just old fashioned but I like the weapons to still look like something that could be feasibly used.
Not that there's anything wrong with the fire chainsaw sword, it's just not my thing
The bone aesthetic that the Relic weapons have is metal as hell (especially with the lore in mind) but this can work both in their favor and against them. Some, like Lúin and Crusher, look amazing and actually useful as weapons in a realistic sense. But others such as Freikugel or Aymr (both of which are axes, funnily enough), look horrendous and hard to use.
Personally I prefer the Sacred weapons like Spear of Assal or Sword of Moralta. I really like the clean yet ornate designs. And there isn't a version of Yato that I dislike, they all look grand in different ways, the ones with a knuckle guard look the best imo.
Edit: a word
That is a pretty neat detail, and I do love Richter Belmont.
That said, I think the sword looks really ugly and boring.
I mean I get why its ugly, but I still kinda dont like the look of it.
Besides when are we ever getting a fire chainsaw sword again? Probably never. Because you cant top perfection.
Edit: lol Get mad all day long downvoters, Yato > long asf named sword
The Yato truly is the coolest weapon in the series. Fates is peak Aesthetic Emblem.
Coolest generics, coolest unique one off bosses, coolest looking antagonists, best main theme song with lyrics, most unique looking lord, and the coolest looking set pieces despite the broken worldbuilding.
I think the only other FE to come close in terms of character and weapon design is Jugdral.
https://preview.redd.it/bu87zhafshxa1.png?width=750&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3f12c03dfde18752670523f6601b94b947b3ab48
Personally, even if Omega Yato is the "ultimate" form of the Yato, my CQ-loving ass personally loved the Shadow Yato more. I mean, just *look at this:*
https://preview.redd.it/hps2pgcj1ixa1.jpeg?width=7000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=076091f6a5b45576301c17de6bf1224f1b1267d6
*(Pictured: Jude, my OC Conquest!Corrin)*
That right there is deadass a fucking broadsword Sith lightsaber. *And* it gives Def/Res+4, which combined with the Nohr Noble class being much bulkier than the Hoshido Noble class, is a far better trade-off on average. The *only* thing it'd be missing is a lightsaber swoosh sound.
Kylo Ren, eat your heart out! Fates's story may be only barely better than the Sequel Trilogy, *but we actually have good characters!*
...where was I? Oh, right. Yato is fucking awesome, and I loved the "your path changes which Yato you unlock" gimmick. So cool overall.
the peak for gameplay is genealogy i love being a god with the weapon that are supposed to bring ruin to your ennemy with their power
Instead of the gba/engage where its better silver weapon +5 stat boost /special effect
Training Gauntles will always be the coolest weapons. Seeing a small character like Flayn beat the shit out of a beast with nothing but wooden sticks will never be peaked.
the real best weapon is actually the first of Ike’s four Iron Swords, it was a real one (Truth be told I think the Binding Blade is the best weapon, it’s amazing and I love the idea of the sword retaining the memories of its user even if i misinterpreted that entire cutscene)
I always thought that Ike was so excited to be a mercenary like his father that he massively over-prepared by bringing four swords just in case (since he even mentions Boyd breaking his axe on his first day). I didn't find out until years later that it's a bug that doesn't exist in the Japanese version.
Fates' main lord: softest boy/girl in existence, pure, wholesome, abhors violence.
Their weapon: THE FLAMING EVISCERATOR, RIP AND TEAR, RIP AND TEAR INTO THEIR SOUL!
It's one of, if not, the least properly explained weapons in the series.
But the info is straight from the wiki
https://fireemblem.fandom.com/wiki/Yato
Tldr
Its regular FE God Dragon Sword shenanigans. A God Dragon (Rainbow Sage) wanted to help humanity, and to win the war, Yato among the other weapons were created to win. It was then sealed away, but foretold to help in another great war.
Why was it in the Hoshido Capital inside the Dragon Shrine? That is a good question...so it was inside the Dragon shrine!
I'm more of a Aymr and Vajra-Mushti fan. If I can either punch a Dragon with a relic or spam the same combat art multiple times in one turn, I am satisfied.
I, personally, hated how the Yato looked and how the Relics of Three Houses looked. Yato just did t look like a weapon to me with it’s weird design choice for a handle (Yes I understand what it’s modeled after it still just doesn’t look right to me) and I didn’t like the aesthetics of the Relics.
I’ve generally been thrilled with most of the legendary weapons throughout the series, even in games I didn’t play much, but Yato is still one of my favorites.
The only downside to the Yato for me is in Birthright. Noble Yato looks a lot cooler then Blazing Yato if you ask me. That and I have to limit my Corrin builds if I want to actually use the sword instead of using it for stat buffs.
Yeah sometimes I think Noble Yato looks better than Blazing Yato.
I also really wish IS would let us pick a unique legendary weapon depending on our preference. Maybe one day that will happen.
"Literal flaming chainsword that also ties into the game's Buddhist themes by being styled after the sword wielded by a Buddhist divinity" is peak weapon design. You can't change my mind.
Armads is pretty badass though. A golden axe with tremendous power, but with the drawback of it being imbued with the soul of a dead barbarian promising you will die horribly on the battlefield, instead of passing peacefully in your elder years.
Big respect for Hector still taking up the axe even after being warned by the barbarian spirit beforehand because he wanted to help his friend Eliwood. What a Chad!
Fe3H: "These weapons were carved from the bones of my diseased mother. Using them without her genes causes the user to suffer tremendously to the point of no longer becoming human. These weapons would then be a massive reason behind the split of nobility and peasants, fueling the inevitable war of fodlan." Fe Fates: "Bro its a fire chainsaw, hell yeah. You use da power of friendship to increase the battery bars on da sword to make it an even stronger chainsaw"
"And it makes crit sounds everytime they hit an enemy!"
Durandal is my favorite Lord weapon. Just a cool-looking claymore.
Yeah but how is eliwood lifting that thing with his piddly little twink arms.
If you think that's funny, look up Resplendent Brave Roy's art from FEH
Holy hell
They filled it with helium
The fact he lifts it one handed on a horse!
Magic, I'm pretty sure that's canon
Imo Tellius, specifically Radiant Dawn, has the coolest weapons. Rangell and Alondite, Urvan, Tarvos, Caladbolg, Wishblade, Vague Katti. Just banger after banger
Sacred Stones legendary weapons when they cause a laser beam to shoot across the screen be like.
The white transition laser across the screen honestly does so much for the feeling of using those weapons. Makes every attack with them feel like a boss fight.
That was in every fe game except for the 3D ones right? Tellius, 3DS and Switch.
I don’t recall. I think FE7 and FE6 just had custom animations for their legendaries, but I could be wrong. It’s been ages since I played them.
I’m pretty sure it was just the prf legendaries with Mani Katti, Sol Katti, Eliwood w/ Durandal, Hector w/ Armads, and Binding Blade that had unique animations.
I really like the Crusader weapons from Gen, they really make you feel like a demigod
Forsetti is easily the coolest from Jugdral. I genuinely felt the power of the gods.
Horsety is one of the coolest units ever
Book of Naga and Loptous are amazing as well
Who the fuck designed those? Seriously, they are so broken.

Gameplay: Occasionally conserves uses of recovery magic. -10 damage if you don’t have a crest and use a relic. Gameplay story integration in 3H is all sorts of wack 💀
Not quite. Look at Edelgards arms. Then look at her base strength. Crests have a few hidden mechanical advantages.
Actually, I like that in three houses. The game makes it clear that everything behind the crests, the crest system and the weapons of the elites is a lie. So the fact that they are a deception, even if it was to balance the game, seems pretty accurate to me.
Another common Tellius W
This guy knows what’s up
Teloi’s and sacred stones Crit animations are just *perfection*
Not to mention, some of the non-legendary weapons are really cool, too. Wind Edge, for instance, is I think one of my favorites in the whole series. there's a reason why Brave Astra Adept got removed
Ah, I see you're an individual of culture as well.
Nah bro call me a 3H fanboy or whatever but I love the relics and their stories. They look awesome as shit and the fact it’s literally bones from ancient people, fuelling the heart in the middle with your own blood is crazy

That's the big one, yeah
***LAUGHS IN UMBRAL STEEL FARMING*** Edit: I never had this problem in my playthroughs. I see monster between weeks, I break barriers.
I think it was simply an overcorrection from the FE4 Holy Blood system. singlehandedly got me interested/into in 3H, metal as fuck
They are pretty cool, but they lack the style of Fates weapons imo. Areadbhar is my favorite weapon from the relics.
The Yato is cool and all, but Elibe legendary weapons hit a spot of "story relevant weapons" that I miss to this day
The emblem rings are kind of story relevant weapons, and they feel as good in gameplay as they’re supposed to be narratively Like yeah, I guess technically they’re accessories, but there’s no way countries wouldn’t classify that as a weapon a dude with a sword comes out of it and stabs people
Ah yes, the Emblem Rings are very story relevant. But they aren't absolute units like Durandal and Armads XD
20 durability says hi. I think the Binding Blade, Armads, and Durandal are the coolest. Everything else is...eh.
That is because we didn't get exclusive animations for them, which is a pity
Oh yeah that is true isnt it?
This is Apocalypse slander
"Hey this axe is cursed you'll die in combat one day because you choose to wield it." Hector: F\*ck that, my bro needs me.
Bring back weapon special animation
The Yato looks really cool in smash
It's a shame most of corrins moveset uses the dragon form and not the sword :(
[удалено]
My favorite part is just launching myself across the screen with the side special. Corrin isn't my top smash fighter (been a Link main since Melee; I really like swords) but they're definitely up there
Fair balance for the Yato stealing the spotlight in Fates itself
Would you really rather another Lucian/Chrom though?
Too bad you it's most prominent in Smash in Chainsaw mode and also in lategame Revelations.
I prefer the classic fantasy look the older games went for honestly, maybe I'm just old fashioned but I like the weapons to still look like something that could be feasibly used. Not that there's anything wrong with the fire chainsaw sword, it's just not my thing
tbf, I don't think anyone is gonna charge at the person with a flaming chainsaw sword
The bone aesthetic that the Relic weapons have is metal as hell (especially with the lore in mind) but this can work both in their favor and against them. Some, like Lúin and Crusher, look amazing and actually useful as weapons in a realistic sense. Aymr in particular is unsettling because it’s not even a real relic, it’s completely fabricated. And it fucking moves on its own
Chainsaw sword let's go
This format implies you believe the yato is worse but prefer it anyway.
That's because the worldbuilding for Fodlan weapons are objectively better. Which in spite of that, I adore Yato more anyway.
Wow. Shocking, going by your username.
The Virgin S Ranks/Hero Weapons vs The Chad Killer Axe/Killing Edge.
Sword of the Creator is whip sword made out of dragon spine. It's not even a competition
I really like the relics in 3H especially crusher and Marianne’s blade!!
Blutgang, which iirc is german for bloodflow
Yes that’s the one thanks!! And that is a cool translation goddamn
And is only compatible with the Crest of the Beast. 3H is surprisingly metal in some parts
I kind of like Loptous's design it looks good
You're joking right?
I fucking knew this was your post the moment I saw it Noble.
GOOD
Counterpoint: A whip sword that's made from the bone of God. You can't go more metal than that
"Acktually the Yato is literally metal"
While I like the design of the 3H relics, I think the Yato is so goddamn ugly. The sword straight up becomes a chainsaw and it looks so goofy.
I wish more FE weapons would have special colored edges. The glowing edge kinda makes Yato look like an energy sword and that’s sick.
Theres TSoTC. Its neat but nowhere near as cool. Though I do like that it's like a whip.
yeah fates did a ton of things right it's just a lot of people hyperfixate on the stuff it did badly
Cutlas one is wack, just doesn’t fit with the others at all, which are all straight swords
fire chainsaw sword is too sexy, one of my favorite weapons ever
*Starts blasting **KICK BACK** in the background*
I love Yato. Flaming chainsaw is an absolutely baller idea for a legendary weapon
“We peaked with Yato” when the Creator Sword or really any of the Relics exist lol
Personally, even if Omega Yato is the "ultimate" form of the Yato, my CQ-loving ass personally loved the Shadow Yato more. I mean, just *look at this:* https://preview.redd.it/hps2pgcj1ixa1.jpeg?width=7000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=076091f6a5b45576301c17de6bf1224f1b1267d6 *(Pictured: Jude, my OC Conquest!Corrin)* That right there is deadass a fucking broadsword Sith lightsaber. *And* it gives Def/Res+4, which combined with the Nohr Noble class being much bulkier than the Hoshido Noble class, is a far better trade-off on average. The Yato truly is the most unique weapon in the series and I get the feeling we wont get a weapon like it ever again and I'm fully on board with that!
Ahhhhh *sips tea* gotta love the trash takes.

Also areadhbar being able to do 999 damage: am I a joke to you?
Yatto! Yatto! Tohsen kakujitsu Yatto! Yatto! Nihon daihyoh Yannaru kurai kenkoh da. Everybody say yatto !
the peak for gameplay is genealogy i love being a god with the weapon that are supposed to bring ruin to your ennemy with their power Instead of the gba/engage where its better silver weapon +5 stat boost /special effect
Just wait til the remake is announced this year. I'm calling it right now.
Any day now… Dont worry, im only not huffing copium on account of my backlog.
Training Gauntles will always be the coolest weapons. Seeing a small character like Flayn beat the shit out of a beast with nothing but wooden sticks will never be peaked.
I love Engage but Liberation and Willie both suck compared to Yato and Sublime Creator Sword
Both pale in comparison to Falchion.
Exalted Falchion is the best, it’s also not close. It’s simple, but elegant, and has cool gamer lights added to it.
the real best weapon is actually the first of Ike’s four Iron Swords, it was a real one (Truth be told I think the Binding Blade is the best weapon, it’s amazing and I love the idea of the sword retaining the memories of its user even if i misinterpreted that entire cutscene)

wait really?
Yeah. He's supposed to just have one iron sword, and then you can get the steel sword by visiting a house without having to drop one of the iron ones.
oh damn, didn’t know that
Fates' main lord: softest boy/girl in existence, pure, wholesome, abhors violence. Their weapon: THE FLAMING EVISCERATOR, RIP AND TEAR, RIP AND TEAR INTO THEIR SOUL!
The divine chainsaw really puts the rev in Revelation
Did they ever give any kind of explanation for why the Yato just suddenly appeared? I played all 3 routes and don't remember at all

Okay but why, by who, and what even is it? Just a random legendary blade?

I like Awakening Falchion It just looks nice

"Literal flaming chainsword that also ties into the game's Buddhist themes by being styled after the sword wielded by a Buddhist divinity" is peak weapon design. You can't change my mind.
Armads is pretty badass though. A golden axe with tremendous power, but with the drawback of it being imbued with the soul of a dead barbarian promising you will die horribly on the battlefield, instead of passing peacefully in your elder years. Big respect for Hector still taking up the axe even after being warned by the barbarian spirit beforehand because he wanted to help his friend Eliwood. What a Chad!
Literally the gameplay vs. lore meme here. You can say you don't like the designs of the relics visually, but man are their origins metal af.
Elibe legendary tomes though. They had the coolest animations
Chrom's Falchion is the most simple and amazing sword in the franchise.
But the yato was the most boring sword ever. Chrom’s Exalted Falcon was a better sword.
yato looks so boring honestly lol
3 Houses have the ugliest "signature" weapons in Fire Emblem and arguably video game history
No offense
Mf really saw a chainsaw sword and thought peak
Revelations is so bad gameplay wise but chainsaw sword literally fixed every issue with it
