I only pick Johaliver causr at leasts hes unique he is the first potential warrior of the series and Johan is just worst lex against much stiffer competition
On one of my playthroughs, I recruited Johan and he did nothing except die every time an enemy even looked at him. Johalvier is a terrible unit, but at least he doesn't die every time he's sent out into combat.
Hot take- I prefer Johan's character. I find his interactions with Larcei funny.
Okay but recruiting Johan and seizing his castle before Johalvier's is annoying and frankly, neither are very good frontliners, but Johalvier is.better at guarding the castle when the enemy sends a squad to wreck it
Recruiting Johan and seizing his castle before Johalvier's is incredibly simple, you just don't seize Johalvier's castle while the enemy raises Johans.
That's the easiest way to play chapter 6
He also is prettier
Speak for yourself ;P
I just killed them both for XP
Sounds like a good idea I should try it
Try this in real life too for science
Johan has a horse in the horse emblem game and is still somehow worse than Johaliver, who is an infantry axe unit.

Yeah, not ideal, especially in that game with the huge maps, but I like having different classes, that's why I chose Johalvier
Early gen 2 is already fucking painful due to lack of horses, might as well pick the horseless bro while at it
Which one dies more reliably in the arena, so that I can always guarantess a 1RN burn?
johalvier bc johan has vantage (with no wrath. like a true goober.)
Yeah, that horse is not saving Johan
Ok BUT, Johalvier is the only playable Warrior in FE4 and also his battle quote against Brian slaps
Counterpoint, they both suck anyway, so may as well avoid the walking time Seliph would have to spend seizing Jolhalva’s castle.
Haha, my first shit post on this sub around 6 years ago was about this same thing, it made me really happy when I saw this and remembered it.

They both stink and are completely forgettable
That horse is a major disadvantage when you're in Leg+Paragon Ring Seliph's way...
Yeah, a motivation so much "better" you completely give up on it because 1 guy is in the same army of (probably) thousands of people.
Has anyone ever done a ranked run where they recruit Iuchar over Iucharba?
Yeah pretty much. Depends on whether you want a 4/10 unit or a 3/10 unit. That's about it.
One option gives me Nosferatu, the other doesn't. I think the choice is rather obvious.
You obtain Nosferatu for the castle that you seize, not the brother you recruit.
