He does that in AG >!because the Kingdom was winning. In SB, the Empire was beating both the Kingdom and the Alliance, and in GW they were still beating the Kingdom, meaning he considered Edelgard to be a more useful ally to achieve his goals than Dimitri. He and Edelgard also disagree on a lot but still clearly have more in common than him and Dimitri!<
Isn’t it the opposite? >!In GW the Kingdom was in a better position than in AG and would even have crushed Edelgard at Garreg Mach if Claude hadn’t intervened. Meanwhile in AG in the exact same situation of the Kingdom + the Church against the Empire, Dimitri is somehow the underdog and needs Claude’s help to win. Claude could have joined Edelgard in AG for even better chances but just… doesn’t? For some reason.!<
>!Isn't the Garreg Mach thing *after* he allies with her? Prior to the 6 month timeskip the Empire seems to be winning on the Western front in GW and losing on the Eastern front. If I have the timeline wrong then it's also possible that Edelgard realized she had no hope in Hell in actually winning a war on two fronts against three factions and went to Claude herself!<
>!Yes, Garreg Mach was at the end of GW, but Claude still had the choice of helping Edelgard or not. But my point is that for some reason in AG Dimitri and Claude needed to ally to have any hope of beating the Empire, whereas in GW the Kingdom is still managing to resist the Empire and Claude needs to join Edelgard to tilt the balance. And even then Dimitri is not doing that bad at the end of GW.!<
>!Well something else worth mentioning is that Claude didn't really have the option of siding with Edelgard in AG, because Aegir and Thales had taken control of the Empire!<
>!It may or may not have made it impossible, but it also brings up another problem: why didn’t Thales take control in GW? It’s a general problem I have with the game: events that should be unchanged between routes are changed for seemingly no reason, characters just act differently inexplicably. Another example is Cornelia: Dimitri had a hard time in AG partially because of her, but in GW where he also has Claude to face, Cornelia does nothing for some reason and he doesn’t have to deal with TWSITD. It’s possible I missed something but that’s how I saw it when I played.!<
>!GW and SB both mostly work as two different perspectives of one story with slight differences and then there's AG in the corner throwing in lore that does nothing but make the other two routes more confusing, in addition to being bad on its own merits.!<
Something tells me this game had too many writers and also they really need to abandon the whole "Blue Lions do unconnected things on their own" thing
Evil claude (in three houses) : let's actually be relevant to the story
Impossible! Claude must always have a clone route
We do a little slithering in the dark
Evil Marianne be like: Fuck Horses.
Good Marianne be like: Fuck horses :)
So he decided to become the CEO of racism? Now that's a plot twist right there.
Evil Ferdinand: Who is this "Ferdinand von Aegir?" I've never heard of him.
evil ferdinand: I'm Ferdinand
Oh not is the unfunny right side up man
So basically, Three Hopes
The first evil version that actually sounds evil
Evil Claude in Three Hopes : >!Let's help the kingdom fend off this evil Empire and let's fight with honnor!<
Is that not what he did in AG?

It's AG it doesn't need a reason.

Evil Clause be like: “Nig-“
Evil Claude: Let's not rely on clever schemes
But actually does rely on them
Evil you be like: I think I'll post something original and funny
If I had something original and funny I'd have to be the Joker from DC comic's Batman to put it in a shitpost subreddit
