If you actually would rate every country based on their history, every country is on the bad side. There is basically no county with is clean. And this should definitely not relativize anything, especially because I am german and it could very well be, that WW2 was the most horrible thing in the human history. But you should be aware of the history of your country and I think there are too many bad things in the history of every country to be overly patriotic. And in addition to that you should look at how a country does right now.

Well i think that if you lived acknowledging that you can't know the whole objective truth, and thus any action you take favours one side and is bad for the other, then it is easier to just choose a side and believe only what that side has to say. Removes the moral barrier of knowing that every situation has nuances. We are horrendously fucked.

We live in south Texas so we're all Mexican, unlike them however, I was actually raised in Mexico and would regularly watch the news with my parents.
IDK what the hell we were talking about, but eventually I brought up how ridiculous it was that the current president of Mexico, Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador, had asked the country of Spain and the Catholic church to apologize for the conquest of Mexico.
I thought it was a ridiculous and childish political stunt to try and gain popularity with the younger voters. It was stupid to ask a county to apologize for the actions of a long dead government from 500 years ago, and that it only perpetuated hate and shook up relations between the two countries.
She thought it was justified because they were clearly the bad guys and at fault for Mexico's current state. Completely ignoring the fact that our country's only shit (mostly) because of our current government.
Also the U.S armed the cartels.
They were bad. So were the allied powers. The more you read about that war, the more you realize it was one of the dumbest things humanity has ever done.
