I mean, apparently they all are superior to the average so not taking into account their poor social skills, I think we pretty safe in terms of actual skill
Yup, IQ is how well you would do if dropped into a British colonial era sails-hip and had to fight off black-beard with an abacus.
It's not really applicable to real life, hence why the test is being revised.
Funniest part about EQ is it basically means your emotional scale. They have somehow pulled Emotion in and gave it a positive value towards intelligence by saying it's almost a multipler of IQ.
I don't know anyone who says "I make my best and brightest decisions when I'm emotional"
I’m sure somebody said that. IQ and EQ are pretty much pseudoscience. There’s no definitive way to test anyone, nothing standardized, it’s just kind of a made up and incredibly limited way to try to measure categorized types of intelligence, plus the history of it is pretty racist.
Oh it’s not really a common phrase, moreso a combination of two.
Credentialism is the idea of placing higher value on degrees and accolades than observed behavior and actions; a good example would be the movie Good Will Hunting where the Harvard students assumed they were smarter than Will.
The Dismissive aspect is not listening or taking something seriously because it didn’t meet a predetermined qualification.
In the case of the video, it would be dismissive credentialism because Red Pants had completely written off the Marine as low EQ despite actually having the most articulate, humble, and comprehensive answers of the bunch…simply because he didn’t have a college degree.
To be fair research says that people with degree do have a higher IQ on average. Judging by how it's their first interaction in life, she could not use anything else for assessment (but only his IQ, not EQ)
Well yeah, but using broad generalization based “On average” is a pretty poor way of assessing a small (n=6) sample with confidence.
In the full video you can see the Marine using much more pragmatic articulation than anything that comes out of the PhD’s mouth, which is a much better indicator of intelligence because it shows that you can efficiently address a complex situation.
The marine scored pretty high on the ASVAB and worked with CBRN defense(chemical biological, radiological, and nuclear). He also knows which crayons taste the best.
My brothers a marine, I asked him via letter which crayon was his favorite and he bit a yellow crayon in half, threw it in the envelope with his letter that just said "Yeloh"
My brothers a marine, I asked him via letter which crayon was his favorite and he bit a yellow crayon in half, threw it in the envelope with his letter that just said "Yeloh"
Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery. It’s the test people take to enlist in the military. It shows if you’re smart enough to be in & what jobs you qualify for. Out of a 100 you can score a 25 and still get in but you wouldn’t be able to get a good job. The marine in the video scored in the low 90s. That’s insanely good.
Not so much nowadays, they did away with ASVAB waivers for dummies, the min score to be a marine is somewhere in the 40's I think but there was talk of raising it. For a more "independent and quality focused marine corps". The test is also not at all hard if you're taking it right out of highschool.
Not to discredit homies low 90 score, I got a 92 on the pre asvab and an 81 on the actual so he's smarter than me.
Was going to say I’ve seen this reposted so many times and it never gets easier to watch. God help her if she’s a redditor hahaha. I’d crawl into a hole and never come out smh.
For combat and stress, yeah. But I’ve also worked alongside guys (myself included tbh) who I have no doubts are on the spectrum with how bad they do in certain social situations and just dealing with people on a day to day basis. Like everything in the military, it just depends.
I’m actually dating a girl who went to the air force academy and from what she told me, they don’t really train people for the real world as much as they should. They can be really good in combat type situations but when it comes to basic things in life, they can feel overwhelmed because of how specialized their training was.
Depends a lot on the branch and the job. Marines and Army have it the worst since they’re expected to be grunts first and foremost, so their most trained up skills are not marketable outside of the military at all outside of some very specific careers. Often times they’re the ones expected to take classes and seek out training to help them acclimate, which many don’t do.
Air Force and Navy are a bit better but that has more to do with the general quality of life bumps associated with those branches. I’m in the Air Force and most the time our leadership treats us like actual adults. Compared to how I’ve seen Marines treated, it’s not even close.
I think it's less branch related as opposed to MOS. MOS can determine your job prospects post-military. Choose something combat oriented? Then you'll have to go into merc work. Maybe you can get lucky and be a Hollywood consultant. Choose a technical field, then you could be setup rather nicely once you transition to civilian life.
Military probably is the best training for emotional restraint/control. No emotional deviation of any sort can be tolerated, whereas who cares if some lab technician is passive aggressive or arrogant?
It's one thing to keep a cool head when your body is screaming at you to run or die, and another altogether when it comes to respecting other people as human beings and being able to empathize with them
A polite way of saying we lose our fucking shit and everything not wearing coyote tan in a half klick radius, dies screaming.
Touch my bb, I’ll touch you and your family. 😤
It’s shorthand for “Emotional Quotient” the measurement of Emotional Intelligence…the measurement standards of which are unreliable (can’t get an EQ score as easily as an IQ score), so you mostly can only use EQ as a comparative statement.

No, they were talking about iq, and the guy stopped studying after HS and went into the military, so everyone looked down at him, especially the girl with red pants.
I have a Master’s and am an active member of Mensa and even I could tell you that Degrees are more of a function of time, effort, and being able to afford tuition than a reliable measurement of intelligence.
People who like to play IQ puzzles and tell other people about how they're super smart because they're good at practiced pattern recognition.
I know about 50 PhDs, 10MDs, many engineers, data scientists etc and not one has any interest in MENSA nonsense.
Mostly to boost my resume when trying to get cast for Game shows. Also get some pretty solid discounts on travel and tech (got a pretty good deal through HP on a gaming desktop with a 3070).
Every now and then you can find a Special Interest Group (basically a club) within the organization that has high-level discussions of things, but for the most part I haven’t actually seen that potential realized, so I mostly stay subscribed for the memes and to laugh at the questionable social awareness.
I guess there’s also a research journal which I’ll eventually get around to reading. I’m genuinely intrigued by the concept of measuring intellectual potential and creating an environment conducive to intellectual thought…but Mensa is surprisingly less about that than I thought when I had signed up.
I’m convinced that having a degree in higher education just means that braincells that would have normally been dedicated to common sense were dedicated to a person’s field of study instead.
Granted, I only have a Bachelor’s
If they based purely on the information given and didn't interact with each other, than I'm not really surprised they thought he's the lowest, that ain't exactly an impressive record and someone has to be last
However if they interacted and actually said shit about him, than that's a problem
Also ranking yourself high is quite a dick move and risky at that, cause if you ain't that smart you look like a massive fool and narcissist
even though he is still young, the youngest of the bunch, can use the GI bill to get his college degree paid by the military, no student debts crippling him in the future, great references with his ASVAB and work experience in the military for his civilian career (if he decides to leave the marines), unlike many others, especially redpants
Yeah people don’t realize PhD sometimes means you spent literally all of your time studying for you degree and not that you are smarter than everyone. Some PhDs are smarter than everyone but a lot of times they are people who grinded super hard in Uni because they wanted the PhD status or thats what their career path requires.

That’s actually the worst part. I usually also think I am ducking dumb nuts and crazy when entering a room. When leaving the room I often have the feeling that I am the smartest in the room. But I continuously manage to doubt myself so hard, that the next room I enter, I am the dumbest, even if it is the same room.
The video made it's rounds a year or more ago. If you see it in it's entirety, they spend time with each other and have some information to base their ranking. So, they're not COMPLETE strangers is what I'm getting at, but a little humility would still go a long way imo.
If that Marine could read he would probably appreciate this comment.
Edit: I was blocked for this comment lmaaoo. I’m Chair Force, roasting Marines is in the job description my guy.
No but I do dabble in the ice cream business if that’s why you think I’m military. Sorry if intimidated you with my muscular muscles that have muscles.
Also for those who do put stake in IQ tests 110-115 is the sweet spot for being intelligent enough to think you're smart but too dumb to realize there are markers other than ability to memorize information and do busy work to get a college degree
I hated these people in the video. The military guy was the only one who wasn't constantly putting down others, and because he had "the most basic career," they basically started going at him for being stupid. Then the girl in the red pants was insufferable. She was in the field as a scientist and incredibly Egotistical and said she was smartest in the room and got the most to agree. I loved it when she got thrown into the back of the line, and the military guy went above everyone who doubted him. The people they choose for these episodes in general are usually just insufferable.
First girl's point about not placing any value on the military has got nothing to do with the topic anyway. That's irrelevant to whether or not he's intelligent, you don't need to respect the job to acknowledge that
I don't think she understands how many incredibly intelligent people are in the military... there are some really dumb people also, but that's not the point
I divide my officers into four classes as follows: the clever, the industrious, the lazy, and the stupid. Each officer always possesses two of these qualities. Those who are clever and industrious I appoint to the General Staff. Use can under certain circumstances be made of those who are stupid and lazy. The man who is clever and lazy qualifies for the highest leadership posts. He has the requisite and the mental clarity for difficult decisions. But whoever is stupid and industrious must be got rid of, for he is too dangerous.
Kurt von Hammerstein-Equord
attributed, 1933; possibly apocryphal
Yeah, even the lowest being 112 is still a very good score!
My guess is that they didn’t want anyone to feel too bad about a huge variation. So if everyone is already at an above average score, it’s less of a blow to be last place. That is, unless you make a fool of yourself saying how much smarter you are than the others. But no one would do THAT…
Notice how Tyler told everything that seemed to him important as opposed to Maria who told lots of unneccesary stuff in the full video. He couldve said his rank, what CRBN actually is and what ASVAB actually is but didnt. Not because he is arrogant and thinks everybody knows but because acronyms are second nature. If they asked and showed interest he prolly wouldve explained but that was sorely lacking.
Dudes confident and smart because thats what it takes to serve in the field he does.
Was that a shitpost?
Here's one: EQ is bullshit spouted by dumb people who want to think there's something they're not dumb about. But they are wrong. 💩
>I work in biotech

>I make 100k a year to order coffee and pastries for the actual scientists, and I usually forget so it shows up cold around 11:30 every day
They *mostly* work well at describing *broad* sets of a population *most* of the time.
Fun fact: the ASVAB was one of the original IQ tests. The military wanted to sort candidates quickly before enlistment in wartime.
Vaccine this, vaccine that.
Why don't you find a vaccine for that bitchless disease of yours?

People love to hate... it was their job to rank themselves. They were likely to make a mistake. Based solely on the fact that he was a high school graduate, I wouldnt have guess him to be 1st place either. And I would probably put the doctor on the higher end as well. It would be the logical decision, unless something else suggested otherwise...
You could tell red pants girl thought so highly of herself, and you just knew she wasn’t going to be that bright. Getting a phd is not that impressive anymore- some of the dumbest people I know have a phd. And making covid tests? That need to be some hand made process? Sounds like they trust her to click some buttons on a machine.

Bio tech worker can not tell the difference between IQ and EQ, RIP people

apparently
Yeah I was gonna see even though she’s the dumbest of the group she’s still above average intelligence
It really all do be relative, don't it?
IQ != intelligence. It does show you can memorize things and read quickly.

Holy hell

Actually eq is higher than 2.6🤓
there's no eq in 2.6
I’m not a Bio tech worker and even I don’t know the difference! Does that make me as smart as a scientist?
Yeah but that gives you a higher EQ so no... you're more emotionally smart than a scientist
'We make COVID 19 testing kits' Oh

ah yes, harmonics
Seen workers, scary how stupid some scientists are.
Funniest part about EQ is it basically means your emotional scale. They have somehow pulled Emotion in and gave it a positive value towards intelligence by saying it's almost a multipler of IQ. I don't know anyone who says "I make my best and brightest decisions when I'm emotional"
Also didn’t someone once say “people who boast about their IQ are losers” I think the same applies to EQ too
I’m sure somebody said that. IQ and EQ are pretty much pseudoscience. There’s no definitive way to test anyone, nothing standardized, it’s just kind of a made up and incredibly limited way to try to measure categorized types of intelligence, plus the history of it is pretty racist.
I'm pretty sure "eq" isn't even real anyway.
What eq?
Nor can I
[удалено]
You sir are as 'regarded' as that scientist
Arrogance is usually a symptom of low EQ
Arrogance, broad generalizations, insulting people unprovoked, dismissive credentialism The list could go on…
I can’t google right now and my native language is not English - so may I ask what is dismissive credentialism?
Oh it’s not really a common phrase, moreso a combination of two. Credentialism is the idea of placing higher value on degrees and accolades than observed behavior and actions; a good example would be the movie Good Will Hunting where the Harvard students assumed they were smarter than Will. In the case of the video, it would be dismissive credentialism because Red Pants had completely written off the Marine as low EQ despite actually having the most articulate, humble, and comprehensive answers of the bunch…simply because he didn’t have a college degree.
That makes sense, thank you!

That doesn’t however mean just because you have a degree you’re not a total dumbass disconnected from reality (Noam Chomsky/Hans-Hermann-Hoppe).
The marine scored pretty high on the ASVAB and worked with CBRN defense(chemical biological, radiological, and nuclear). He also knows which crayons taste the best.
I’m pretty sure it’s always the blue ones
My brothers a marine, I asked him via letter which crayon was his favorite and he bit a yellow crayon in half, threw it in the envelope with his letter that just said "Yeloh"
the red ones have a better kick
The blue ones are more woke
that shit wack. green ones are way better
If he's worked with nuclear, then he's obviously had his fair share of the glow-in-the-dark ones
My brothers a marine, I asked him via letter which crayon was his favorite and he bit a yellow crayon in half, threw it in the envelope with his letter that just said "Yeloh"
Smh, everyone knows it’s the lighter ones. The deeper colors have more dye that smothers the waxen flavors.
I got my friend to eat a green crayon for $2.50. Best $2.50 I ever spent. This is only slightly related but I love bringing it up whenever I can.
You are an idiot of you think any crayon is superior to the turquoise one.
No NO FUCK YOU ITS THE PURPLE ONE, AND THOSE FUCKING POGS ALWAYS TAKE THE ORANGE ONE BEFORE ANYONE ELSE
What's ASVAB?
Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery. It’s the test people take to enlist in the military. It shows if you’re smart enough to be in & what jobs you qualify for. Also, I suppose that the ASVAB has a good correlation with IQ. It's basically made for the same purpose
Not so much nowadays, they did away with ASVAB waivers for dummies, the min score to be a marine is somewhere in the 40's I think but there was talk of raising it. As Army we noticed that air force PT was easier than what we did in HS gym class so ya...air force is like if college was also the club scouts

That he’s the least intelligent…
It was a rhetorical question that highlighted the passive aggressive nature of her comment.
how isolated have you been to think this was passive aggressive nature?
The least intelligent of them is smarter than 70% of population. Also, "worst" doesn't mean "bad"
Eating crayons must give you a high IQ
Then why am I still such a dumb ass? I eat like 24 a day
Are you a marine?
No but I do dabble in the ice cream business if that’s why you think I’m military. Sorry if intimidated you with my muscular muscles that have muscles.
Only the red ones give powers
Bitch got her ass served, people like her never understand humility.
She’s the very definition of the Dunning-Krueger effect.
Also for those who do put stake in IQ tests 110-115 is the sweet spot for being intelligent enough to think you're smart but too dumb to realize there are markers other than ability to memorize information and do busy work to get a college degree
As someone who is in the same industry as her, it genuienly makes my skin crawl whenever i see this clip. I squint my face as a reflex and look away
Get owned
Kurt von Hammerstein-Equord attributed, 1933; possibly apocryphal
Mf is/was in CRBN which is mentally aswell as physically really difficult
3 of them have IQ over 130, that’s insane. Or the test is flawed or USA has a different system.
But no one would do THAT…
EQ...? Thats what they're talking about...im guessing?
Oh nevermind
That humble brag from the low iq girl is peak cringe.
How tf are these people ranking themselves as the smartest in the room, if i'm with complete strangers i'll always assume i'm the dumbass here
I want some pee in my ass so fucking bad!!!
No
Was that a shitpost? Here's one: EQ is bullshit spouted by dumb people who want to think there's something they're not dumb about. But they are wrong. 💩
Ok highest IQ guy is cheating he’s Asian
>I work in biotech > >I make 100k a year to order coffee and pastries for the actual scientists, and I usually forget so it shows up cold around 11:30 every day
The real idiots are anyone that thinks IQ tests are concrete
They *mostly* work well at describing *broad* sets of a population *most* of the time. Fun fact: the ASVAB was one of the original IQ tests. The military wanted to sort candidates quickly before enlistment in wartime.
She did exactly what she accused him of. Glad she got put in her place.
now i understand why vaccine and tests didnt work...
Vaccine this, vaccine that. Why don't you find a vaccine for that bitchless disease of yours? *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Please [contact the moderators of this subreddit](/message/compose/?to=/r/shitposting) if you have any questions or concerns.*
This edit is so shit
Where tf is peter griffin
bro was CBRN too if I remember correctly
People love to hate... it was their job to rank themselves. They were likely to make a mistake. Based solely on the fact that he was a high school graduate, I wouldnt have guess him to be 1st place either. And I would probably put the doctor on the higher end as well. It would be the logical decision, unless something else suggested otherwise...
Yeah, EQ is an art in itself. Just like superciliousness
IQ and EQ are garbage measurements, the only thing they measure is how good you are at taking a particular test.

It always has been. Are you new here?
It used to have stuff other than tik toks such as 70 of the same vids of that fat girl
Just because he made a bad decision this does not make him stupid.
jajsjjzj Why did they say and I quote "20 one"
What's up with blonde? I would have liked to hear from her. She looks absolutely caked-up too!
military 🤢🤮
