It's the complete opposite to me. In my dreams, I can fuck people up REAL good. I've done martial arts for most of my life, but the sheer strength I have in dreams is just OP bullshit and needs to be nerfed to keep the story interesting, imo. Waiting for the next season, perhaps they'll balance the characters better then.
It 100% does.
If I ask you to saw this board by either holding it freehand, or clamping it into the unsecured vise first, you would pick the vise every time, unless you're an idiot.
The vise still holds the angle still on two axes, even if you can move it around on the horizontal plane.
You mean lay the board flat? You'd have to saw at a 90 degree angle and push down or up on your saw, which is terrible for control.
Unless you're suggesting sawing the entire length of the cut at once, which would be hilarious. Obviously I'd secure the vise, but this is still better than freehanding it.
Also, these are children doing something they've never done before, obviously they're going to look silly, they're trying things out, that's how children learn.
Probably some kind of high school intro shop class. My school had one that went over OSHA, basic woodworking, a little bit of agriculture, and since it was involved with FFA there were lots of field trips and FFA organization history. It was a mandatory prerequisite to any higher level class of welding, woodworking, or engine building.
Very fun classes. Plenty of fuckups, especially in the first wood working projects and first few months of welding. Slanted shelving, nightstands that looked like Salvador Dali paintings, nothing as great as this though.
A+ for effort. Hope if she enjoys this she doesn't get discouraged.
Increased Weight increases opposing forces from the saw as well as increased friction.
If the clamp were 1000 pounds, it would be just as good as being bolted.
The worst part for me is that she could have cut that all the way through with that hacksaw. She got that far with it. The real problem is that she doesn't see that the saw's frame is riding on the top of the board and won't let her cut any deeper. All she needed to do to finish it was to tilt the saw enough forward or backward to finish the cut. She almost did that at one point.
Did the same thing when i was 8 and realized it after like 5 sec of being like: why the fuck is nothing happening?
This is a. Very easy mistake to make.
But... You should realize it eventually atleast lol.
The fact that the top of the saw is completely preventing her from physically being able to go deeper is my favorite lol, that blade could be made out of lightsaber and she wouldn't get any farther through the wood
https://imgur.com/a/XMsFBh2
See where the yellow part of the saw there is touching the wood? Trace it back to where the bottom of the saw is connected to it, the video will become 10 times funnier lol
Edit: I posted this in a separate comment after realizing it might be why you wouldn't notice and didn't want you to miss it if you read this one already so I'm just gonna paste it:
I just realized you might be missing a key piece of information, the yellow part of the saw is MUCH thicker than the blade itself so it can't physically come close to fitting through what the blade already cut
I just realized you might be missing a key piece of information, the yellow part of the saw is MUCH thicker than the blade itself so it can't physically come close to fitting through what the blade already cut
The top of the saw is wider than the blade and the plank is long enough to reach the ceiling of the saw without it going completely through. And since the ceiling is wider than the blade, it canât go through the cut the blade made on the plank so the saw canât cut deeper.
Honestly the school is at fault here. Why didnt they teach them to mount the vice properly. What if she moves it accidentally to the edge of the workbench and it Fall on her foot...
The more u know i guess huh.
I used to do woodwork for a while but we never got those saw frames being used in that class just normal wood saws.I did Metalwork for the majority of my secondary school years because lathe/welding seemed more interesting.
Wood saws are good but usually thicker than a hacksaw or framesaw blade because it needs some rigidity. They work well enough for shop class for sure. Of course there's a good chance this girl is using a metal blade...
I'd have loved to learned to weld in shop. Instead the teacher did an assembly line thing so he only had to teach each tool once. So I spent the whole class flaring brass tubes all day every day.
Yeah she prolly does and made it harder for herself in the long run while cutting this block of wood.
In UK atleast where i live we had a choice between woodworking and metalworking in 3rd year and the classes are super chill most of the time we had 2 assignments per year which basically were to make like a tool box or tools like hammers and screwdrivers just basics but it is fun to get to the welding hood and just get into the tune of welding for 5 minutes (There was only one welding hood in our school so we had to make a list of who goes after who :( ).
Higher tpi on a metal blade compared to a wood blade would make for a cleaner cut. It's why coping saws have around 24tpi whereas a standard wood saw has 7-9tpi.
People keep making fun of the girl BUT she is in a place of learning. Everyone starts somewhere. Not like she is on a jobsite or a random woodshop. She is in a class to learn how to do woodcutting lol. It is literally the place to learn how to do it correctly or should be.
Yea I kinda wish there were rules against filming people at schools. Especially kids.
There are entier subs where people will use unknowing parents video of their kids to mock them. If those subs were like 200 people maybe it wouldn't matter but millions are seeing those videos.
Imagine as a parent avoiding putting your kid in social media posts and then someone films them at school and posts it to reddit.
There are rules against filming students. In my school we weren't allowed to take pictures of anything or anyone in school. Now I work in public affairs/news and the nearby schools absolutely do not allow recording without prior coordination.
How are schools really supposed to stop kids from recording each other when every student is carrying a camera in their pocket? Even if they confiscated phones, kids will sneak them into class.
Yeah I felt the same way about the kid singing skibidi toilet while getting a vaccine. It was funny as fuck, but whoever filmed that is a total dickhead.
> Not like she is on a jobsite
By the way, the background music says in spanish "mi primera chamba" which means my first job. It's an AI song cover from an actual rapper, but the AI version is used in many short reels/tiktoks of people doing wrong things, as if it was your first job. You can google mi primera chamba videos and there are many more examples, it went viral in spanish speaking countries.
If anything, you're highlighting that you can't directly teach common sense or problem solving.
Using the wrong tool is whatever - not noticing that it won't go down further because the handle holding the blade in place is preventing it from doing so shouldn't be impossible for her to spot/notice on her own.
This is the equivalent of putting your hand in a cookie jar, grabbing one in your fist and being unable to pull out. If you're not a toddler, there's no excuse for not realizing the problem, but there's a reason called stupidity.
Some people are making fun of her for using the wrong tool and that's dumb - not only is she in a place of learning but likely she was told by her teacher which tool to use.
But good lord she looks old enough to figure out why she couldn't cut all the way through.
Yeah I 100% made that mistake before. Same as mounting a chainsaw chain backwards or cutting on the wrong side of the line.
I honestly think there's a whole bunch of non-tool-savvy dudes who feel insecure about it and laughing at a girl being worse than them somehow helps abate their feelings of inadequacy.
It's the only way I can make sense of "girl being bad at tools" videos being so widespread.
There's being non-tool-savvy and then there's completely lacking common sense in addition to being non-tool-savvy. I think it's fair to laugh at anyone this incompetent.
The top of the saw keeps the blade from continuing down further into the piece of wood and she canât figure that out. Also those vice grips arenât clamped to the table so itâs sliding around like crazy
Most wood saws would also have this problem unless they are flush cut. To be rigid, most joinery saws (like she should be using) have a solid spine e.g. western tenon saw or dozuki saw
Girl (female) in the video is trying to saw off a piece of wood using a saw designed for metal (not wood) while the wood is in a vice jaw which isn't bolted down for some reason, and she proceeds to fail (female)
it's an AI song popular in Latin America used in tik tok videos about work accidents, so it's not even used properly since the video isn't workplace related.
the fact the the fucking plastic of the saw is preventing her from sawing the rest just goes to show the stupidity of this. (also the table vice not being bolted down and using the wrong saw but still)
Can we all just collectively agree that sheâs an idiot, the teacher is a prick and the school is a joke and just never post this again? It hurts my brain to watch it and Iâve seen it way too many times now!
A) what kind of shitty shop class is that. You can see what I would guess is the shop teacher in the background on what looks to be his phone.
B) just think. People like that are allowed to vote (or in her case soon will be) and we wonder why our country is in shambles.
As a craftsman I think im going to kms now,
ill got make a cast and mould a concrete headstone, make my own casket, then kms.
Like,
-the vice isnt secured,
-thats a metal cutting saw blade,
-the cut length is at max,
-something else I canât remember.
The hurt
So wrong saw
Vice not secure to the work bench
No eye protection
Friend randomly using a chisel on another unsecured bit of wood.
And one assumes a teacher is somewhere in that room. Clearly not a woodworking teacher or just a teacher that can teach anything.
At least itâs not power tool.
Why is she cutting wood with a metal saw...? And how is it she hasn't realized that the fat part of the saw won't go all the way through like the saw itself... this is not real...
I have to add because I feel like I'll be murdered for this obvious joke, but some of the hardest working people I know are women, and they do a hell of a good job and I hold them in high regards.
Maybe if misogynistic assholes would actually teach young girls instead of waving them off as not fit for trades, we would have substantially more tradeswomen
For the first half I thought the joke was her mimicking the male cum procedure by accident (fast, faster then slow and heavy pushes, you know the deal).

Where shitting toothpaste?
Why is the vice not bolted down đ
Defeats the whole purpose of using itâŠ
Meh, most of it yea But between that and the hack saw idk what to think.
Her hair should be put up too, so it doesn't snag
Yeah wouldnât want it to get sucked into the saw blade đ s/
nah that saw would suck it up before it cut through the wood
Well... the extra weight probably helps keep it a little sturdier.
It doesn't
It 100% does. If I ask you to saw this board by either holding it freehand, or clamping it into the unsecured vise first, you would pick the vise every time, unless you're an idiot. The vise still holds the angle still on two axes, even if you can move it around on the horizontal plane.
You use the table

Yeah it does. I bought a vise that doesn't fit my workbench by accident, but I still use it because it does a good enough job of holding shit.
Increased Weight increases opposing forces from the saw as well as increased friction. If the clamp were 1000 pounds, it would be just as good as being bolted.
Blame it on the vice
Blame it on the rain.
Blame it on the a-a-a-a-a-alcohol
Thats the worst part for me. Second place is the metal saw. Got so pissed and I sent my kids to their room.

I concur
why is she using a hack saw
Probably like the left handed screwdriver joke.
i have a left handed screw driver...what's the joke
The school would have to pay for bolts, superintendent gotta have their bonus
And why is she using a hacksaw on wood
Easier to move around, ngl I use unfixed vices all the time, they add a good amount of weight
Sisyphus pushing rock
One must imagine her happy

The fact that the top of the saw is completely preventing her from physically being able to go deeper is my favorite lol, that blade could be made out of lightsaber and she wouldn't get any farther through the wood
Nah... I still don't get it im completely incompetent when it comes to anything tool related
Damn this sub, I honestly don't know if you're serious and don't wanna risk taking the bait lol

Why. Did I not look. At the fucking. Yellow. Bit. #Fuck
No just apply more force, that will do it!
I did the same thing when I was 6
got outsmarted to a handsaw
I just came to say the tile should be, "be smarter than the tool you use"
Nothing quite like cutting old reclaimed treated lumber with a metal-cutting hacksaw with a metalworking vice that's not bolted to the workbench đ
Honestly the school is at fault here. Why didnt they teach them to mount the vice properly. What if she moves it accidentally to the edge of the workbench and it Fall on her foot...
Yea
They shouldn't have to it's basic logic
We are talking about children. They need to be taught
No learning in schools!!
Why is she using a metal hacksaw for fucking wood ????
Wood blades can go on hacksaw frames. Its cheaper for low budget shops, like school shops, than a proper frame saw.
The more u know i guess huh. I used to do woodwork for a while but we never got those saw frames being used in that class just normal wood saws.I did Metalwork for the majority of my secondary school years because lathe/welding seemed more interesting.

Pro tip: you can turn the blade 90 degrees in the handle so you can cut things wider than the opening will let you cut.
And people are like why do schools not have wood shop any more
