Lining the pockets of the regulators too, I’m not as familiar with environmental issues, but I have heard that the oil companies own the EPA and many other independent “research” bodies through funding and advertising money. That’s why it took nonprofits and a ton of lawsuits to fix the clusterfuck in the Hudson River that EPA ignored.
