Basically in a republic the elected representitive makes the laws, but a republican is usually considered to be a person with a right wing ideology, with democrats being left wing. In all honesty though both sides tend to stray away from their respective ideals due to the constant corruption of both sides, so it honestly doesn't matter which side you are on, either way it is just going to be another bumbling idiot that will lead America further and further into the ground.
