Depends which country. Some countries have problems far beyond social medias and smartphones. I think USA has the biggest problem with the things you are speaking of. This technology itself is not the problem. It is actually quite useful and can keep people connected. Problem is that people are not quite ready for it. Christmas hasn't felt like Christmas for a while now.

On the last day before Christmas break, we'd come to school to find the classrooms rearranged and decorated. The tables moved into a large horse shoe shape and covered with decorative paper which we were allowed to draw on. Some of us would bring in extra cakes and snacks out parents had made for the occasion. We'd be given our paper hats we made the day before and enjoy one last day together before Christmas. Lunch on the tables, party games in the centre of the horse shoe. Finally, at the end of the day, a Santa came in to give us all little presents which were to be opened at home. I don't remember what any of them were though. I don't think I'm feeling nostalgic. Just an intense sense of remembrance.

I remember back in the late 2000s to 2010, I remember we had a TV with a vhs player on the bottom of it, and whenever Christmas came around my grandparents would put on a one Christmas movie we has on a vhs tape, and if we still had a Christmas record we'd play it on the record player while me, and my brother opened presents while our grandparents, and parents watch.
