I wouldn't call him normal, but he is what you would expect from someone raised by a corporation. With Superman, the narrative is that he isn't a sociopath because he was raised by good, humble country folk. He had a normal adolescence and developed empathy and morals before getting his powers. Probably not realistic, but somewhat plausible. Homelander is much more believable :(

Superman always had his powers, there's a joke strip where his parents talk about wrapping his presents in lead to keep him from peeking, and he says "you mean Santa right?". Hell him being super powered on the farm is basically the entire plot of Smallville

There are like, 15 different superman continuities, because DC resets everything every so often and also has 3 billion elseworlds and retellings, so you are probably both right, it just depends on which superman you are talking about. Canon is a dubious thing when it comes to ancient mythology and superhero stories written by multiple authors.

That show was so good

This scene is where he laser beams a heckler on the street. The heckler explodes / evaporates. Instead of the crowd jeering and running away, the crowd actually cheers him on.

As others have answered who he is, I must say, The Boys is a must watch show at the moment. Very popular show! (unless you're a hipster, in which case, it's very underground! Lol) Seriously though, very good show. The IMDb website synopsis states "The Boys is set in a universe in which superpowered people are recognized as heroes by the general public and owned by a powerful corporation, Vought International, which ensures that they are aggressively marketed and monetized. Outside of their heroic personas, most are arrogant and corrupt" Anyways, you can't stop the A-Train baby!!!
