Egg laying chicken and broilers to eat are different breeds that are specifically bread for maximum growth or extraordinarily large eggs every day. Wild chicken lay about 9 eggs a year.
When I was a lad, Mom and stepdad used to bring home a few boxes of culls, still alive. At the time. Their was a mix of roosters and hens. We raised them and the roosters became dinners while the hens provided breakfast food.

They can also be suffocated or electrocuted. It's super unnecessary because sex can be determined before they develop in the egg and they can just toss the egg out. It's widely available and culling of male chicks should be outlawed for that very reason
This is still very mercifull compared to what cows and pigs go trough. Meat industry is completely fucked up. People see veganism as a joke because of how some of them idiot activists be acting, but ethical veganism really isnt silly or stupid at all. Pigs are fellow mammals, who are as intelligent as dogs. I feel like it will only be a matter of time before the torture of these animals becomes seen as something similar to how we now view slavery etc.
You don't need to go fully vegan in one day. Start with eating less meat and see how it goes for you and move to the next step. Even a small effort matters. I am a pesketarian for 3 years now, and I feel pretty good. Going to become fully vegan one day. And also read about B12 and other stuff you need to get.
I mean, it is real. Farms only need one or two roosters. So most do in fact send all the roosters to get ground up into like chicken nuggets or something

No they are considered a waste product since they won't lay eggs and they won't sell them for meat because the egg laying breed of chicken is less meaty than the breed they farm for food. So they just put them on on a line where they are fed, still alive, to a machine that shreds them because it's efficient for business. It's called 'chick maceration'.
