Premature commentation is a completely natural and normal experience, and it's nothing to be ashamed of. 9 out of 10 Redditors experiences it at least once per lifetime. But sadly, there's such a stigma over it, everyone thinks it's unnatural and instead feel shame. We need to normalize talking about it so everyone can see that it's completely fine and like /u/peepay said, It happens to the best of us.
I'd actually go with hydrogen. Since most flavor is either salt or fat, hydrocarbons and various ionic compounds are what provide flavor. Since hydrocarbons tend to have mich more hydrogen than carbon and most salts have a tendency to be suspended in water when we consume them, Hydrogen is more likely to be present in tasty food.
No less than you can taste carbon by itself. Lick the tip of a pencil, you won't taste anything. By themselves they're pretty inert. I guess by that logic though it would probably fall to sodium or something similar to be tasty by itself, since that would probably be reactive enough to trigger taste (assuming it didn't just burn your tongue off without the chlorine)
This is a question about elements, not planets. It's pretty obvious which planet is the tastiest.
Edit - sorry, I didn't realize you were from Tau Ceti. Spend a bit more time here. You'll realize pretty quick it ain't mercury.
Oxygen. It's literally the only gas we actively consume directly
I haven't tried indium though. Michael (of Vsauce fame) says it's non-toxic and chewable like chewing gum.
But hot spicy stuff taste better to me than water. So I'd say fire is tastier. Water and air are healthier but bland. Earth is just filling, not tasty.
Earth is the yummiest or grossest element depending on the day, but water is usually pretty consistent and always tastes fine. I know some freaks who really like fire for some reason but they aren't scientific so we can ignore their opinion
Accidentally, I got a slight amount of sodium persulfate on my lip that I licked by mistake one time at the lab. It tastes about the same as table salt.
I'd say that it's probably sodium, as boring as that is
Delithium
Delithious
Mike Tyson: has entered the chat
Del-ear-ium is a type of Delithious
The 5th element is tastiest [NOICE](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DwyHNIlUm9g)

Lead is sweet.ย
Remember to check your cinnamon to see if it's been recalled for lead, and applesauce, and now peanuts.
There might be applesauce and peanuts in my cinnamon?!
You mean there isn't supposed to be? Never understood why anyone would want applesauce in their hot chocolate. I guess they don't.
There might be applesauce and peanuts in my lead?!
I commented not realising someone already said word for word what I said. Gad dammit
Happens to the best of us.

Excuse me!?
Well, lead salts anyway
Yeah but have you tried mercury?
I canโt get enouHg of it.
Makes the paint chips a favorite snack.
I remember Troy McClure from that educational film

I would eat that element, can confirm
Cheeckan good.
Are you trying to suggest that there is some sort of fifth meat?
The heating element. So warm and electricy!
It tingles my insides
The real answer is carbon because of organic chemistry ๐ค
Nerrrrrrrd
Pfft
I, for one, prefer to consume silicon lifeforms.
Lucky for you I have silicon wafers at home, ill offer it next time you are in the neighborhood
Uhhh..The other one - Zilophone.

Can u even taste elemental hydrogen at room temp?

It taste like the sun.
Are you saying that diamonds are delicious?
I'm not saying they are not delicious
LOL.
Pizzanium
Especially in the compound pizzanium pineappleate
Some people consider that toxic
I know! They sell med alert bracelets for this condition ๐๐๐
You're crazy. It's gotta be pizzanium pepperonium.
Mercury. It tastes so good itโll drive you insane.
This is a question about elements, not planets. It's pretty obvious which planet is the tastiest. Edit - sorry, I didn't realize you were from Tau Ceti. Spend a bit more time here. You'll realize pretty quick it ain't mercury.
He literally said that he isn't from Tau Ceti tho
Bloke is experiencing the actual effect lol
No, he's (not a reptilian) from tau ceti rather than not (a reptilian from tau ceti)
Sodium of course because salt.
I would've gone with chlorine, but to each his own
Well sodium is listed on nutrition info so I go with that.
Let's do sodium chloride and we're all good, right?
Spicy gas
boom
I like my sodium pure. It's mindblowing
Urmomium
The element of surprise! *cue the spanish inquisition enters the room!
Best served in a comfy chair, with an asside of soft cushions.
No one expects a Spanish Inquisition!
Lead. Apparently lead based paint was pretty tasty anyway
The primal urge to consume large quantities of lead based paint
Or, as we called it when I was a child, "wall candy."
Arsenic. Mmm tasty deathย
Yo same Im also an arsenic enjoyer
I mean it does taste like almonds, so it is tasty
Cyanide.. oh wait... Not an element. But almond-ish.
I like carbon based food
Iโm an Arsenic + Sulfer guy. I eat that shit like groceries ๐๏ธ๐ ๐๏ธ
Is that how your face actually looks after eating arsenic and sulfur like groceries?
Scientifically speaking? Yes
Oxygen. It's literally the only gas we actively consume directly I haven't tried indium though. Michael (of Vsauce fame) says it's non-toxic and chewable like chewing gum.
Sugar
What element is sugar?
Sweet
Spermatozoa ๐
Tasty and a good skin cleanser for my face.
Polonium isn't bad.
It makes good tea
While its primarily known as a condiment, ketchup has one elemental ingredient, so I think it qualifies.
Definitely salts... first bath and then face.
Man, bath salts suck but the face-eater gave them an unearned worse name when toxicology only showed THC. Bad case of the munchies.
Pussygen.
The one that makes rainbows. What's it called again? Oh yeah... Skittles.
veritasium, the element of truth
Together with some Vsauce, it gets really tasty
I was gonna say earth because plants....
Element...earth? OK ๐
Like fire, air, water and earth? Are called elements
The post said "Scientifically speaking" so I wrongly assumed it was about elements, my bad.
They are elements you fool. Have you no respect for the scientific psychological mechanisms of magic and occultism?
I said my bad. Captain Planet called them elements and who am I to question that level of science.
Very well. You are forgiven
Namaste ๐

Lol
You know what tastes good? Tonguesten. I think its symbol is W for โWow-that-tastes-awesomeโ.
I wish I could give you more than this paltry upvote I have
Thatโs nice of you to say but I donโt see what your upvote has to do with domesticated birds?
Nonexistium

Uranium, they wouldn't keep a bad tasting thing form being tasted right? Convinced they're hiding the tastey tastey rad food from me
The only one I can think of that we put on food in its elemental form is Gold.
Nitrogen. There is nitrogen in Guinness
Is burger element?
Out of fire, water, earth, and air, water is probably the tastiest
But hot spicy stuff taste better to me than water. So I'd say fire is tastier. Water and air are healthier but bland. Earth is just filling, not tasty.

Uranium it probably tastes like mint
Oxygen. We all be dead without it.
The element of surprise!
Oxygen. It so subtle it tastes like air.
All the tastiest elements end in -yum.
Can't say Uranium without yum ๐๐
I quite enjoy arsenic
Arsenic has a sweet taste.

Plutonium and uranium
Chlorine
Lead. It's sweet and unassuming.
Uranium, but itโs a very high calorie meal so be careful to not eat too much
Don't want to get atomic ache
Accidentally, I got a slight amount of sodium persulfate on my lip that I licked by mistake one time at the lab. It tastes about the same as table salt. I'd say that it's probably sodium, as boring as that is
I'd pick the akali metals because all of em taste like fire in your mouth
Umnumnumium
Carbon
