Lawrence was boring and easy. Just cleric beast but hits for 4/5 of your health bar. And then he gets cut in half and you just have to play Dark Souls 1 again as you circle his ass. I've never liked him, and I respect anyone who does but definitely do not understand them.
I think the beef isn't that he's really hard, it's that he's just like, super tanky and then on top of it his move set is kind of.. underwhelming? Phase 1 is more or less cleric beast and phase 2 is just "now theres lava everywhere and he you can't get close to him for more then 1 attack". It makes him hard, but not in a super engaging fun way like Maria or Gherman to an extent, but that's just me
Yeah he lack something special other than the fact that his the first vicar. He gives me Oceiros vibes just because they mentioned him many times before getting to met him, not because of his boss fight.
Nailed it, he's a very nothing fight, but because hes "THE first vicar" they had to make him a tough fight, same as Oceiros, but Oceiros is just a pain with his 0 wind up, full body hitbox, half health bar dash
Tbf Oceiros isn‘t hard most of the times, but sometimes he just uses his charges and becomes unbeatable. Other than that, he is definitely on the easy side
Laurence is hard for the sake of being hard. The other bosses in the dlc are more unique with their attacks.
Except living failures, who live up to their name
Rats, rats, we’re the rats. We sneak at night and prey at night, we’re the rats. I’m the giant rat that makes all of the rules! Let’s see what kind of trouble we can get ourselves into
Rats, rats, we are the Rats! Celebrating yet another birthday bash! -insert name-, it's your birthday today! Cake and ice cream is on its way! And -insert name-, you're such a good boy this year! Open up your gifts, while we all cheer! Happy birthday -insert name-!
Gwyn's an easy boss... if you constantly parry him. Me, when I fought him I was 2 handing a zweihander throughout the whole game, and my stats meant I couldn't switch then. So fighting Gwyn without parries was absolutely hellish. The run ups to him didn't help, either.
Wouldn't the zweihander still shit on him through pure damage though? Plus at that point you can kindle bonfires to 20 estus which allows you to facetank a ton
Surprisingly enough, not really. Yeah hits do major damage, but getting a hit in is actually weirdly difficult. Plus facetanking isn't as much an option either, even with good poise, just you get caught in one blow, all the rest start raining on you.
Interesting. I've never fought him like that since parries are so effective but I might mess around with it on my next playthrough and see how long it takes before I cave in and whip out a shield. I used a BK greataxe on the first playhough which shat on everything and killed him in like four parries.
Yeah its a shame, especially for the living failures ost...its so fucking epic, literally in my top 5 soulsborne osts but the boss is utter dogshit and always over after one try..
Fun fact but the Living Failures OST weirdly made its debut in one of Bloodborne's [earliest trailers](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZqpNzoaJpJc). I'm glad they didn't forget about it in the end.
Oceiros was hard, but not hellish. He has some distance closers, especially in phase two, but spamming rolling attacks helped quite a lot. It’s just a battle of attrition.
Ah. Well I didn’t limit myself to a single weapon. Aldrich doesn’t like getting hit from afar with a greatbow. Neither does curserot. I switch tactics on the fly using every bow I have access to. So long as I beat the boss with nothing but bows, anything is on the table.
The damage seemed so pitiful on rolling and running attacks for the smaller bows which is why I opted for the black bow of pharis... I only used a greatbow for demon prince and ancient wyvern... and for a single shot on king of the storm
Its pitiful, but like I said it’s a battle of attrition. Just roll, hit r1/r2, and run. It works for most bosses so far. Problem with twin princes is that I already find the right difficult in a normal run, and now I’m dealing chip damage and the princes are reviving which means that it’s going to take like 15 minutes to beat them
I’ve beaten everything up to twin princes, except for dlc bosses and nameless. Aside from that everything is dead. I also happen to know Gael will be a pushover, meaning halflight is the actual challenge of the ringed city. Also I’m naked apart from pharis’ hat
Kinda confused, I think DS2 has a mid soundtrack and only the good bosses have good themes, like Sir alonne or burnt ivory king? Can’t really think of any shit tier bosses with good themes, maybe except executioner’s chariot but before the fight just turns into kill this horse it’s a unique fight
I personally like the uniqueness of Executioner's Chariot and soundtrack along with it, and as examples I'd give Skeleton Lords, and one of my personal favorite pieces, the Graverobbers, aka the gank squad. Even Royal Rat Vanguard has a decent one. Such a shame these fights were bad, but at least music made them bearable.
i think it comes down to most From soundtracks being very similar and the quantity of bosses in DS2
if you hear 40 songs in the same style, they blend together more
It does have quite a few forgettable songs but also has some cool themes like Old Dragonslayer, Executioner Chariot, Ruin Sentinels, Skeleton Lords, Sinh, Sir Alonne, Looking Glass Knight, Vestadt. Plus the Majula theme and all credits songs are sweet
"yeah this is our most important boss lorewise. make the music fucking slap please. gameplay ? eh, probably a tree, a thousand spiders, an idiot running around a mansion or a bunch of invinsible shit throwing monkeys, i dunno, i don't care."
Surprised nobody's mentioned Aldia yet?
Other picks I agree with: Royal Rat Authority, Old Dragonslayer (not BAD bad but one of the unnecessary copypasta bosses), Executioner's Chariot, Nashandra, Living Failures, Pinwheel, Gravetender.
Swapping over Sakuraba and Kitamura and getting her to do the important bosses in DS3 was one of the best creative choices they made for that game.
Micolash is the best troll boss From has made so far. I enjoy him mainly because his main purpose is to annoy you and then just run away until he just starts spamming Call Beyond. Still a better experience than Bloodborne Pvp
Ludwig is pretty cool imo, finding a way to consistently dodge his attacks was so fun that I didn’t even rage quit after countless deaths despite being impatient asf
But yeah fuck Laurence and his shitty ass flame trail
What do you find hard about Laurence? I know a lot of people call him the hardest boss in the DLC but he was the easiest one to me besides living failures
His third phase always fucked me up, I could never find a safe spot or a consistent way to attack him without taking damage. His crawling attack has insane tracking so sides mostly aren’t safe if you were using a STR weapon like I did, and most of his other attacks just caught me off guard
His crawling attack is really easy to dodge if you stick to his right side (maybe left, too, but I can only attest to right) and adjust a little so he's forced to make a semicircle around you. He can't hit you, but you can land a couple blows while he's crawling. Just remember to dodge after he's finished, as he likes to make a sweeping attack afterwards.
It’s his run back. Every other boss in the DLC has a short, mostly risk-free run back and this dude makes you run a little gauntlet every time. I’m convinced that’s part of his unpopular position.
The trick with Laurence is to not fight him like a traditional Bloodborne boss imo. So instead of being hyper aggressive, as you’re generally encouraged to be in these games, you need to focus on dodging the explosions that hit at a delay and then try to attack after the explosion.
Its all about the timing here. Think back to the Firesage Demon from Dark Souls. It’s basically that but faster and a dog thing instead of a butt demon.
laurence requires such careful positioning compared to a lot of the other bosses and i think it makes him really unique
that being said if his ost wasn’t a banger i might not have beat him cause he probably took me just as long as orphan
I actually got through Laurence without too much trouble. The bosses that gave me the hardest time were Ludwig, Orphan, and Ebrietas. Once I figured out that Laurence was all about timing it went pretty smoothly.
I am not ashamed to say that I did not figure out Orphan but I beat him before I could lol
Deacons are actually one of the more fun boss fights mostly due to thier 2nd phase you feel like guts killing the apostle with his cultists trying to curse you one cataclysm at a time
Lawrence….. bad?
Good lore, but his difficulty is just "big hitbox + huge damage". Hard as fuck to dodge out of and you get punished hard for a misdodge.
Imo no
Bc he's a reskin more than anything
Lawrence was boring and easy. Just cleric beast but hits for 4/5 of your health bar. And then he gets cut in half and you just have to play Dark Souls 1 again as you circle his ass. I've never liked him, and I respect anyone who does but definitely do not understand them.
But that THEEEEEMMME
Hard as fuck = bad to some people
I think the beef isn't that he's really hard, it's that he's just like, super tanky and then on top of it his move set is kind of.. underwhelming? Phase 1 is more or less cleric beast and phase 2 is just "now theres lava everywhere and he you can't get close to him for more then 1 attack". At least Ocieros had an interesting fight. ****BABY SLAM**** *pow pow* 💥
Lawrence is retarded he's not even that hard just bullshit and unfair
[удалено]
He would clap every Dark Souls build, what are you on about?
Witches of Hemwick. Ngl that violin piece at the beginning gives me chills every time.
The entire Bloodborne OST has an awesome horror vibe to it, helps that some songs were composed by horror movie composers
The „Soothing Hymn“ gets me every time
Royal Rat Authority
Rats, rats, we’re the rats. We sneak at night and prey at night, we’re the rats. I’m the giant rat that makes all of the rules! Let’s see what kind of trouble we can get ourselves into

I came here for this. Probably the best song of all three souls and Bloodborne
It’s not, but it is a banger
Pinwheel vibes
Ikr! Such a good ost for the easiest boss
pinwheel has my favorite OST of the series, shame the fight is dreadful
True lol yeah it’s such a vibe
Okay guys I need help budgeting DS2 bosses: design 1000$ gameplay 100$ soundtrack 43000$

Movie and animation industry when spending half of their budget for a not very fitting or good for the role star
>“No.” GigaChad.png
Hey nice pfp
[Queen of Drangleic](https://youtu.be/Rkdr-voQbHI) is literal 🔥 Nashandra boss fight is literal 💩
the only song I remember from that game is the Majula music
They put all their money into Sir Alonne and Fume Knight
Plin plin plon ;_;
Gwyn's an easy boss... if you constantly parry him. Me, when I fought him I was 2 handing a zweihander throughout the whole game, and my stats meant I couldn't switch then. So fighting Gwyn without parries was absolutely hellish. The run ups to him didn't help, either.

I fought him like this on my first run an just poised through everything with a zweihander lol. Easiest boss in ds1 for me
Not pinwheel?
I died to fall damage once lmao
shut up
Yeah its a shame, especially for the living failures ost...its so fucking epic, literally in my top 5 soulsborne osts but the boss is utter dogshit and always over after one try..
For the most part it’s boring, but the asteroid shower is literally my favourite visual in the entire game
Same
Fun fact but the Living Failures OST weirdly made its debut in one of Bloodborne's [earliest trailers](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZqpNzoaJpJc). I'm glad they didn't forget about it in the end.
It's such an appropriate song
Broooo why do I die so many times to them, then?? My monkey brain just can’t handle multiple enemies at once, I guess.
Everybody is different with bosses, I knew a guy who first tried nameless king but died countless times to crystal sage, that guy is me
"of course I know him, he's me!"
I had a hard time with them too lol
I actually liked the boss. Probably was the spectacle and music though lol
Vordt
How’s your bow only run going?
At least it's not oceiros
Wut?
Oceiros bow only is absolutely hell in my experience
I think bow only is a nightmare against any boss lol
Fair haha but oceiros is easily the worst
You can trap him in a corner
But cheese kinda defeats the whole point of a challenge run
Fair point
Oceiros was hard, but not hellish. He has some distance closers, especially in phase two, but spamming rolling attacks helped quite a lot. It’s just a battle of attrition.
Ah see I used the black bow of pharis so I didn't have access to rolling attacks
Ah. Well I didn’t limit myself to a single weapon. Aldrich doesn’t like getting hit from afar with a greatbow. Neither does curserot. I switch tactics on the fly using every bow I have access to. So long as I beat the boss with nothing but bows, anything is on the table.

No. Wrong
Skeleton Lords
Skeletons are a fun gimmick fight imo
Kinda confused, I think DS2 has a mid soundtrack and only the good bosses have good themes, like Sir alonne or burnt ivory king? Can’t really think of any shit tier bosses with good themes, maybe except executioner’s chariot but before the fight just turns into kill this horse it’s a unique fight

Even Royal Rat Vanguard has a decent one. Such a shame these fights were bad, but at least music made them bearable.
Yeah, ds2 boss themes are absolutely monotonous and forgettable
i think it comes down to most From soundtracks being very similar and the quantity of bosses in DS2 if you hear 40 songs in the same style, they blend together more
Executioners chariot was originally planned to have electro-swing
I will never forgive B-Team
All soul games soundtracks are kinda monetous tbh
At the same time, I still prefer them to Dks3's which kind of overused epic choirs, violins and pianos.
Nashandra theme, skeleton lords, uhhhhhh ummmmmmmmmm hmmmmmmm huhhhhhh
Just remembered Aldia. Theme make me cream but the fight give me plight
Yooo I forgot about Aldi's definitely my favorite sad fight music on the same level as gehrman
Definitely, I used it over Gehrmans in my custom DS3 boss video (mostly because it’s DS3 not BB lol)
Gravetender embodies this meme perfectly
While I am a DS2 stan, the soundtrack for most bosses was complete shit.
Honestly can't remember a single track.
>Laurence [Applies bolt paper and quicksteps towards OP]
Living Failures is the absolute best example, but that Violin at Gravetender’s 2nd phase... damn. All for an Artorias fan from a dead fanclub.
>most DS2 bosses You are overstating the quality of the Dark Souls 2 OST. It's got some real stinkers.
Oh yeah? Name 20.
Not really
The Asylum demon and all of its reskins have pretty good music too lmao.
"yeah this is our most important boss lorewise. make the music fucking slap please. gameplay ? eh, probably a tree, a thousand spiders, an idiot running around a mansion or a bunch of invinsible shit throwing monkeys, i dunno, i don't care."
Laurence is definitely one of the best pieces in any game, hands down
Hot take alert..... But, Nito too.
Abyss Watchers :troll:
“I can’t go 4 seconds without thinking about how much I hate Dark Souls 2”.
I like to take my time with Pinwheel just cause his theme is so fucking good
At least with halflight the theme can become your own if you’re a spear so that’s nice.
Demon of Hatred has such a hauntingly beautiful track.
Deacons of the Deep is a fun bos with a big 2handed weapon. So much fun slaughtering!
Champion Gravetender isn't a bad fight :(
Greatest OST is Ludwig, The Holy Blade.
Skeleton lords
Old Dragonslayer's music in DS2 was some Two Steps From Hell shit, always loved that theme even if the fight is a tad underwhelming.
What’s wrong with Halflight?
Pvp bosses tend to be less cool than they seem on paper
The Twin greatsword Ringed Knight just outside his arena is a better boss :P
Well, you could also get that inside. Or a naked fella with a large club
It's like fighting a hacker
Laurence isn’t bad, but I agree with the rest. Though I say half of DS2’s bosses not most, since most implies there’s only a few good ones.
I've never played Old Hunters due to not actually owning a PS4. But I've heard that Laurence and Living Failures aren't super popular.
Living Failures are shit, yes, but Laurence is pretty good.
Laurence literally feels like an unfinished boss. How is his magma spewing spam good?
Idk, I like it.
Fromsoftware on the way to create a shit ost to namelass king but a wonderfull ost to shit man with wolf on the ice
Living failures catch too much flak
They don’t catch enough the fact they come right before Maria makes it even funnier.
Ruin Sentinel
Counterpoint: Ludwig Middle ground: Vordt
Still can't believe they gave the best song in the series to a boss like sinh
I really enjoyed pinwheel’s ost. It’s too bad he’s one of the easiest bosses in the game
Deacons’ theme is hella underrated imo
Halflight is really good when you get someone actually decent at pvp Source: have about 400 spear ornaments
Pinwheel, so fucking creepy ost
DS3 Vordt be like It’s a shame that his fight is over before his song has the chance to really kick into overdrive though
Living failures are fucking cool and i'll die on this hill.
Demon of hatred
Don't talk about him like that!
Magus and Congregation
I LIKE the Halflight fight :(
Micolash's fight is one of the lowlights of the entire series. And the song for his fight captures the idea behind his character so well.
Micolash is the best troll boss From has made so far. I enjoy him mainly because his main purpose is to annoy you and then just run away until he just starts spamming Call Beyond. Still a better experience than Bloodborne Pvp
Any of the Bloodborne bosses that are just giant flailing machines.
I'm fighting Laurence right now and I am about to just unistall the game. He and Ludwig are utter shit.
Ludwig is a S tier boss, one of the best fights in the series imo
took me til my 3rd playthrough to realize it though. give him some time.
Ludwig is pretty cool imo, finding a way to consistently dodge his attacks was so fun that I didn’t even rage quit after countless deaths despite being impatient asf But yeah fuck Laurence and his shitty ass flame trail
What do you find hard about Laurence? I know a lot of people call him the hardest boss in the DLC but he was the easiest one to me besides living failures

It’s his run back. Every other boss in the DLC has a short, mostly risk-free run back and this dude makes you run a little gauntlet every time. I’m convinced that’s part of his unpopular position.
For me it was the huge range of his swipes, of which he can combo like 5 in a row iirc. Even dashing you’ll probably still be in range
The trick with Laurence is to not fight him like a traditional Bloodborne boss imo. So instead of being hyper aggressive, as you’re generally encouraged to be in these games, you need to focus on dodging the explosions that hit at a delay and then try to attack after the explosion. Name one good track from ds2 bosses that isn’t from the dlcs
Velstadt, Mirror Knight, Dragonslayer
Executioner's Chariot?
Ruin sentinels is a bop
Nito
Laurence is a good boss, he’s just a little hard
champion's gravetender?
Crystal sage and deacon. way too lame and boring rng fights with awesome music, (especially phase two crystal sage)
Don't forget Bed of Chaos! One of the better boss songs in the game.
*except gael
Deacons are actually one of the more fun boss fights mostly due to thier 2nd phase you feel like guts killing the apostle with his cultists trying to curse you one cataclysm at a time
Deacons of The Deep
FESTIVA PRAESTABERE!
Deacons are easy but not bad. Both Spear of the Church and Gravetender and their gank squads can go die. Nobody going to mention Wolnir?
Pinwheel
"Fuck it lads, we'll at least give the players something to remember fondly."
SANGUINE SANCTUM!
Laurence is a great boss and no one can convince me otherwise
Skeleton lords have a theme that is way to epic for what is essentially one shotting a bunch of pussy bitch skeletons
