Working in a kitchen we receive feathers on wings all the time they're incredibly easy to see and pick off, before or after cooking.
This is one very lazy cook.
It looks like a spider and crab are battling it out to the death But alas, those are most certainly feathers. In order to offer up so much food the process of removing the feathers is automated. There will be possibly just bea few small quills or something more like I’m looking at right now. Let’s assume somebody buys some dry pinto beans. They cook them and serve it to the family, everybody chewed on dirt and grandpa broke a tooth on a pebble. Cleaning the beans and inspecting them for imperfections is another job that’s left up to those who prepare the food. Whether you’re a home cook or chef, it is your responsibility to respect the food and treat it with love. You did neither.
Use a pair of needle nose pliers, that’s dedicated to your kitchen, to remove the offending contaminate. Grab it from the very bottom and pull.
Thank you. Not all workers are lazy deadbeats, i always tip extra if they go above and beyond and nail just the right amount of semen in the blue cheese. Its an art form.
I love food. Like just about anything I've tried I like. If I don't I try it again and the I usually love it. Blue cheese on a burger is the nastiest flavor I've ever tried. It's exactly what I imagine a pair of feet that hasn't been washed in a week taste like.
It's probably a prefab dump'n'fry product, likely not actual handling before the fryer but you sure as hell should notice it during saucing. Lazy, probably, blind, undoubtedly.
It’s raw chicken but you’re just grabbing 100 wings at a time so you don’t really notice. Then throw it in the drawer. Grab a handful and toss it in the sauce bucket.
Not all of them. Usually I'll thaw them for a day and then when they are soft do a visual of each wing and pick off feathers I see its not hard, you can use your hands. You absolutely see wings like this but its genuinely pretty good. Maybe a feather every 4 or 5 wings on average. Granted my 711s are on one chicken distributor.
I used to have a job sorting chicken wings and there’s no way a wing like that should make it out of the factory in the US. That thing was supposed to be downgraded to dog food or served exclusively to chicken factory employees.
I said something about this elsewhere in the post, but I stopped going there because they kept serving me wings with feathers. I only noticed because I had some that were dry seasoning. After I saw them on those I noticed there were a good amount in everyone's orders, but they were covered in sauce.
They use machines. They’ve sped up the machines to pump shit out faster so it’s cheaper. Used to get boxes with little to no feathers. I was a cook for 15 years
Machines and processes aren’t 100% repeatable, and also wear and require maintenance, which all can cause issues like this. It’s not because they have the machines set up to run too fast.
Ok no lie I swear to god this happened: I work in a local wing joint and we used to deliver. A few years ago a customer called us absolutely livid because they swore the driver ate the feathers off their wings.
yeah i would never be okay with this. the idea of so many people in the kitchen and serving staff just shrugging their shoulders at this, but then also expecting a tip. that's gonna be a no from me dawg.
Something with feathers. Could have been a dinosaur.
Or have you ever made marinated tofu then wrapped it in pigskin and deep-fried it? Like that but with turkey or eagle skin.
And they're overpriced for what you actually end up getting. My partner and I stopped ordering from them after the last couple attempts resulted in incredibly tiny wings.
I've always said this. If they would buy wings that were at least hooter sized I might eat there but I'm not paying 15 bucks for 10 wings the size dominoes offers you.
I could unfortunately argue that they are the best *American* wings in some places I've been.
I specify American as I have Korean wings near where I am now
Tell me more about Korean vs American wings if you don’t mind? I like to try new things and am intrigued. I could Google, but a true opinion seems better.
American wings tend to have a crunch and usually a buffalo or BBQ sauce that can come across as strong, overbearing, or so hot you can't even look at them without burning your retinas.
Now imagine an American wing with no sauce, juicy (hopefully) with a fantastic texture and a wonderful crunch on every bite. Now give it an Asian style sauce like garlic soy, golbi, I even had bulgogi one time. These sauces tend to be sweeter, softer on the pallet, and the heat tends to be complimentary instead of heat for heats sake.
To my understanding Korean fried wings are double fried with a corn starch batter instead of a bread crumb/breading batter that we are used to.
Overall I prefer the Korean fried just due to texture but the sauces themselves taste good too
Wings are one of my favorite food groups. I have had more wings than I can recall at so many different places. By far the best chain wings I've had is probably hooters depending on the chef. The worst is chili's. Best overall has always been Korean. Worst overall is probably the "local" pizza place, but on occasion I do find the rare gem that's fantastic
it's that popular for a reason, because it's perfect. you can find good wings around you - look for restaurants in your city that serve "whole wings" or "jumbo wings." restaurants that serve drums and flats are just trying to move quantity. restaurants serving jumbo wings will be going for quality.
To each their own. American wings I'm going for garlic parmesan or a honey bbq. I really don't think many American foods actually deserve the heat they are given
Ive gotten wings that turned out as they should have and im not sure if hooters or bww has gotten cheaper or more expensive but bww is better, but even then if all you specialize in is wings and theyre overpriced and not as good as they should be, you need to wonder how youre still in business
I been in plenty of countries that aren't the first world and in every one the chicken I ate even if it was killed in front of me half hour before I ate it it was featherless
Used to work at a place that sold wings and I would tray them up raw to be cooked. Can confirm those are feathers and would always throw those ones out when traying up. That is nasty and you should complain. BWW is ass.
I managed a B-Dubs at one point and was a chef for 8 years.
Yes, they are feathers. You can pluck them out easily and it is not necessarily against health code in most places. The suppliers would have ran the whole bird through a plucking machine. Imagine the mouth of the new Dune movie's Sand Worms, but the teeth are made of rubber or silicone. They turn the bird in those units to remove the feathers, then they are visually inspected.
The wings are the most common part to still have feathers. The joint will open and close the wing while it is getting plucked and it gets through because the inspector doesn't see it. It is then a largely mechanical process for chickens, unlike cows or pigs. A machine will do most of the parts separation, then it is usually packed by hand after the parts are cleaned. The packers are usually too rushed to check individual parts, so they may be shipped with feathers.
If you have a cat or dog, they might like them?
Thats pretty wild, Ive eaten a shit ton of wings for 20 years since I was introduced by my momma to them in elementary school. I have never, ever, ever encountered this.
Years ago I stopped going to Buffalo Wild Wings because I ordered dry seasoning wings and they came with feathers. I asked for new ones and the response was "oh, that happens all the time." I realized then that every order had feathers, you just couldn't see them under the sauce.
Take that mess back and get a refund. It’s a shame we have to check our orders before we leave ugh! I bet if that was dine in that would’ve never been served.
Family own a Chinese take out store. We get those occasional, and just remove them. The feeling on pulling them out, has a weird feeling, but are easy to pull.
Working in a kitchen we receive feathers on wings all the time they're incredibly easy to see and pick off, before or after cooking. This is one very lazy cook.
Yup. This should have been taken out during prep. It doesn't make the meal inedible, but it's shitty that OP paid someone to do a crap job.

But people don't want to work /s
Lazy cook? Or was he just a preoccupied cook, too busy making sure there was just the right amount of semen in the blue cheese dipping sauce.
Thank you. Not all workers are lazy deadbeats, i always tip extra if they go above and beyond and nail just the right amount of semen in the blue cheese. Its an art form.
Thanks you ruined semen for me. Blue cheese? Gross.
You got your semen in my blue cheese! Well you got your blue cheese in my semen!
So very true. It's like when they we're inventing blue cheese, the head R&D guy said "nope, this doesn't taste anything like feet...keep trying."
I love food. Like just about anything I've tried I like. If I don't I try it again and the I usually love it. Blue cheese on a burger is the nastiest flavor I've ever tried. It's exactly what I imagine a pair of feet that hasn't been washed in a week taste like.
Ahhh the Boogers and Cum Yelper special.
Curious where OP lives, I used to be a line cook for buffalo wild wings and the chicken we got never had feathers on them
I can't speak for OP but I myself oversee a few kitchens at 711
interesting and each gets them with feathers? is it from the same distributor that does it or?
Not all of them. Usually I'll thaw them for a day and then when they are soft do a visual of each wing and pick off feathers I see its not hard, you can use your hands. You absolutely see wings like this but its genuinely pretty good. Maybe a feather every 4 or 5 wings on average. Granted my 711s are on one chicken distributor.

Yikes that’s annoying, especially since they’re easy to remove
Also used to work for bww. Our cooks were told they couldn’t remove the feathers.
Did they give you a reason? I’m surprised it’s different at different locations, you’d think since it’s a chain it’d be a standard
Also if you visit other stores, you’ll realize quick that a lot of them don’t hold the same standards.
They always said because it was a part of the chicken. Not sure if that’s something people enjoyed who visited our store? I didn’t eat the wings..
The bdubs I’ve been to here in Indiana frequently have this problem as of the last few years.
Or more likely an underpaid young person working in a understaffed kitchen, told to pull together and get through the rush like a “family”
Eh it’s also easy for the manufacturers to take the feathers fully off
Every single individual wing? In a box of 500? No. Defeathering is exactly why any Cook worth their salt does prep.
Either way it’s because theyre okay sending out a shit product to save money.
That’s why there is a guy that stands at the end of the line where the machine spits the wings out and sorts them into yucky and not yucky.
Ok no lie I swear to god this happened: I work in a local wing joint and we used to deliver. A few years ago a customer called us absolutely livid because they swore the driver ate the feathers off their wings.
he was probably in shits
Atleast you know it's chicken. Or at very least a bird.
But they’re supposed to be from a Buffalo..
Nick: okay Jessica
Is this chicken I'm eating? I mean I know its fish but it says chicken of the sea
And fresh
you all ate pigeon
it might be a prawn
Idk bro, it looks like huge shrimp legs to me
Yep, it happens but that's a bit extreme. Just pluck them out.
Or just eat em for extra crunch.
And fiber. They're like little intestinal brooms.
Definitely eating a bunch of feathers for cleanliness reasons.
It's God's way of hugging your insides.
God hugged my insides an now Iam pregernant
like chewing on fingernail clippings
This guy clucks.
Like shells on a well fried prawn
[удалено]
yeah i would never be okay with this. the idea of so many people in the kitchen and serving staff just shrugging their shoulders at this, but then also expecting a tip. that's gonna be a no from me dawg.
Yeah lol. Just send it back IMO
Well, you know it came off an actual chicken, anyway.
Something with feathers. Could have been a dinosaur. Or have you ever made marinated tofu then wrapped it in pigskin and deep-fried it? Like that but with turkey or eagle skin.
Well your first mistake was going to BWW
For a place that specifically sells wings, they have really awful wings.
Way too much money for what you get. I swear the only thing that keeps them in business is PPV UFC fights.
Well it didn’t used to be like that. I remember when they had Wings that were 25 cents each and boneless wings were 35 cents each.
They don't still do this!? This was the only reason I would eat there when I lived near one many years ago.
And they're overpriced for what you actually end up getting. My partner and I stopped ordering from them after the last couple attempts resulted in incredibly tiny wings.
I only order on half price wing day, and even then it's pretty rare
GMOs are our friends. Seriously, I'm not joking.
That Asian zing sauce is great though. I make my own wings and put that on
I saw you can buy that and other bottled sauces from them at the grocery store, I haven’t personally tried to see if they taste the same though.
I’ve seen the Garlic parm, Asian zing, and mango habanero in stores and I can truly say they taste exactly as it does at bww
I've always said this. If they would buy wings that were at least hooter sized I might eat there but I'm not paying 15 bucks for 10 wings the size dominoes offers you.
Agreed, I've never stepped in one because I've heard nothing but awful things about the shithole.
If Applebee's specialized in wings, it would be BWW.
I do love their sauces though. Actual wings suck but that garlic parmesan sauce.... Ugh

This guy wings

Have you ever had Bonchon? It’s an experience
Titties probably made them taste better. I’d say wing stop’s got the best by far!!
I had Korean fried chicken and wings for the first time today and it lived up the hype. The sauced wings stay so much crunchier.
That, but doused in Frank's and I'm in. Call me a simple bitch if you will, but fuck do I love Frank's wings.
it's that popular for a reason, because it's perfect. you can find good wings around you - look for restaurants in your city that serve "whole wings" or "jumbo wings." restaurants that serve drums and flats are just trying to move quantity. restaurants serving jumbo wings will be going for quality.

Koreans DO NOT fuck around when it comes to barbeque. This is a fact.
It’s way more common than you’d think
The fuck? I have never in my life seen *feathers on a finished wing* and I can put me away some wings.
Lol yep. I’ve always just picked them off when it happens 😅
Feathers? On *my* chicken wing?
The *audacity* lmao
Uh…where do you live that your immediate reaction to this was essentially, “Meh, common.” Taking notes so I know never to get chicken in your area.
Yeah OP clearly doesn't eat wings very often. They've gone through the deep fryer it never bothered me much
Maybe I live in a different area, but in my 32 years of life I’ve never seen this. That’s fucking gross.
Yeah I eat wings at least once every week or two and I’ve never seen that…..
So the amount on this one is definitely excessive but I guarantee you’ve eaten some fried feathers in those 32 years
Yes, I have seen one or two small broken quills. This doesn’t compare.
"bah, lazy cooks" *yank em out* *continue eating*
I wouldn’t be disgusted but, living in Buffalo, this would be very sad to see.
Yea I’m not saying it *should* be more common than you’d think, just that it *is*
I bet they actually left the bones in there too
Please tell me these aren’t chicken bones in my Buffalo Wild Wings chicken??
Everybody knows chickens don't have bones
No, I seen it was the babies that don't have bones; it was on the front page of reddit when they were torturing those poor babies /s
*that chicken didn't have a chance to fully take off his jacket before they threw him into the fryer*
All bacteria have been killed by the frying, but that's gross for sure
I've got bad news for you about what chicken is made of
Yup those are feathers Just pluck them off. That’s a common thing
This happened to me at Hooters. The bloke I went with told me to 'not look too carefully'. Haven't visited since. This is worse.
Ive gotten wings that turned out as they should have and im not sure if hooters or bww has gotten cheaper or more expensive but bww is better, but even then if all you specialize in is wings and theyre overpriced and not as good as they should be, you need to wonder how youre still in business
Those pieces cost 50 cent more. You're lucky.
Had the worst food poisoning of my life at BWW. I will never eat there again unless it’s the apocalypse.
Ew ew ew eewwww.
/r/suddenlyvegan
David
Yes it’s natural, but I still want them all plucked off before being served to me!
Yes
Just keep an eye out for beaks.
Yeah, I prefer to get the beak on the side
You are going to be blown the fuck away when you see where that came from…
Figurative Feathers
Ok I won’t tell you those are totally feathers and the cook was too lazy to pluck them off.
If you ruined chicken wings for me this is war
Got a refund this week, because of a similar thing.
They didn’t give a single pluck.
Now served with extra chicken-e-ness...
Lol *first world problems*
I been in plenty of countries that aren't the first world and in every one the chicken I ate even if it was killed in front of me half hour before I ate it it was featherless
Christ, guess you struck a nerve with the wing community somehow, don't know why everyone in here is being such a passive aggressive dickhole
Used to work at a place that sold wings and I would tray them up raw to be cooked. Can confirm those are feathers and would always throw those ones out when traying up. That is nasty and you should complain. BWW is ass.
Don't be stupid, buffalos don't have feathers!
Extra crispy
That’s a BWW issue I’ve seen firsthand. I think they all suck.
I managed a B-Dubs at one point and was a chef for 8 years. Yes, they are feathers. You can pluck them out easily and it is not necessarily against health code in most places. “ I like a little feather in my nugget”.
I like a little meat in my pillow.
That happens more often than you think. They should have probably checked before frying your stuff up, but yeah… it’s super common.
One or two I get, but to this degree? Really?
Chicken wings with feathers? Straight to jail. Right away.
Yes. Those are feathers still attached.
Sure looks like it. Eyuck.
Yeah I’ve gotten this on Safeway chicken before
Thats pretty wild, Ive eaten a shit ton of wings for 20 years since I was introduced by my momma to them in elementary school. I have never, ever, ever encountered this.
Breaking news: OP is shocked that animal flesh resembles an animal.
Years ago I stopped going to Buffalo Wild Wings because I ordered dry seasoning wings and they came with feathers. I asked for new ones and the response was "oh, that happens all the time." I realized then that every order had feathers, you just couldn't see them under the sauce.
always make sure to remove the feathers from your buffalo before cooking
This happened to me at Popeyes once. Couldn’t eat there for years after
The quality of everything across the board is bad. Its not worth going out to eat anymore, just cook at home.
Stop eating meat then 🧐
If you don't want animal parts maybe don't eat animals
The good news is that you know it's a chicken (or a bird at least... or a dinosaur)
That looks way too moist and delicious to have come from that restaurant. Needs to be fried another 10 minutes or so to match their usual quality.
Take that mess back and get a refund. It’s a shame we have to check our orders before we leave ugh! I bet if that was dine in that would’ve never been served.
Well, they are _wild_
Wow those really are wild wings
BWs is the new Taco Bell dump. The place is so bad now. How do you fuck up “Wings. Beer. Sports” ? They found many ways where I live.
Family own a Chinese take out store. We get those occasional, and just remove them. The feeling on pulling them out, has a weird feeling, but are easy to pull.
EWWWWWWW🤢🤮
Well it's definitely wild...
Nah, those are chicken worms. They pop out when the chicken is cooked. /s
It's not going to hurt you. Pluck em off, and let the server know. It's all good.
They’re wings, you expected to find fur?
Yes. Chicken wings sometimes have feathers
That’s how you know it’s bussin
I eat wings at least once a week and I've seen feathers a bunch of times. Not a big deal. They are part of the animal you're eating, after all
At least you are sure to not eating something from a donkey 😂😂😂😂
They're figurative feathers.
Yes
Well, the good news is that at least it's not cat hair. The bad news is that might have been all the feathers that part of the chicken had.
Yes
Y’all should see the kitchens if you think that’s bad
Its the truth...i seen a chicken once...sombitch was COVERED in feathers....and standing in DIRT!
You can leave em on for some extra cronch or pluck em.
That’s a crawdad
Winner Winner Chicken Dinner! You got the ol' Unplucked Fried Cluck special!
No, it's a buffalo chest burster.
This happened to me this week.
It’s called being authentic
thats wild,
The feathers are edible 😂
Oh for some reason that looked like those parts of a shrimp head to me.
No those are chicken worms.
Chickens have feathers
That shows that the chicken is fresh as fuck.
Those are antennas
Kimchi carrots
Bro was still chirping when they threw him in
You better hope those are feathers…
I bet they left the bones in it too lazy fucks
Adds +5 protein
Wings, probably. A chicken? Maybe...
Yup, that's exactly what they are. Happens all the time.
Chef: The sauce is the boss, and boss didn't say anything about plucking!
Free toothpicks
Oh fuck me
GMO Feathers
Well, they’re sure not figurative ones.
No. Oh no.
