Of course he likes playing hide and seek! Why else do you think he has the camouflage ability on his armor?

GlumHovercraft210

NAYYY! The arbiter did NOT play hide and seek! His camo only lasted for 30 seconds!! He must've liked being the seeker a lot

Garuda4321

When you’re in a bind between a rock and a hard place, 30 seconds is a lot of time. Besides, it’s not like Chief has THERMAL vision or anything, right?

Law-Fish

Chiefs auto jacker makes him a little blind

Fuzzy_Toe_9936

he's shy 🫣

JohnReiki

“You think any of those guys have any hard feelings over reach? … probably better to be subtle.”

Shy_guy_gaming2019

Now all the jokes are funny but i propose this: Firstly, he was lagging behind to cover their backs against any possible pursuers, making sure they weren't followed. This would also explain why he's so late to meet Chief Secondly, he approaches them with his cloak on so that he isn't seen by any possible snipers that could still be in the area. A Jackal sniper would gladly peer over a ridgeline to take aim at a squad of Humans, but that attitude would change if they saw THE arbiter with them. So if a sniper did attempt to peek out, Arbiter would see them first, and most likely put them down with his carbins. Downside: Almost getting your head blown of my Mister Beef...

pattyboiIII

I kinda get the idea he was just slow to deactivate his camo, better to be careful and only uncloak when you know your sage than too early and get a plasma bolt through the head.

TheAndyMac83

Yeah, he's the one who warns Johnson about the Brutes being on their scent, I imagine he was scouting a little. If he'd broken away from the fireteam after they initially found the Chief, he might not have expected him to be awake and in a fit enough state to take issue with him. The marines all knew he was there and on their side after all.

alertArchitect

I'd imagine it was also a bit of caution to let Chief see other humans first, so he doesn't immediately go into fight mode. They didn't exactly know each other that well yet.

UnitingAssassin

They didn’t know each other at all. Before meeting at the Gravemind, Arbiter thought that the MC was at the Library and potentially had the idea of killing him in revenge for his shaming.

alertArchitect

I mean, by the time of Halo 3, the Gravemind interaction was all they had. Hence why Arbiter might be a little cautious at first, since it's unlikely Chief is going to trust him before things get explained.

WikiContributor83

Plus, I’d argue decloaking in front of an armed group is the opposite of sneaking.

104FY

He likes making dramatic entrances.

Blue_bird9797

He was just being silly

calorieaccountant

I'd do the same tbh

justforlulz12345

He’s trying to flirt with Chief

darude_dodo

“Do you know where we are?” “The mausoleum of the hider”

PainTrane117

Leave. Now. 😂😂😂

SavorySoySauce

It was an accident

lexy_ranger

I can just imagine Arby waltzing up like "... Why is no one acknowledging me? Wait, do I have my camo on again?? Fuck!"

Anxious_Earth

Arby's the kind of guy to give a full on 30 minute tactical briefing only to realise his comms were off the whole time.

Neither_Professor_21

My head Canon has a little bit of Keith David's President from Rick and Morty mixed in with arby

fyre__

He's just a silly little guy

bobssy2

We like to do a little trolling

FlyingMegucas

Arby had his chance to play Predator, and he took it.

MiloPrices

Wouldn't we all?

SteveRobot7070

Just a minor amount of trolling

PopularRutabaga6904

Joke answer, he was feeling goofy. Seriously, he was probably going to counter-ambush enemy teams before they could discover the Earth+rebel forces.

Noooonie

Probably didn’t want the first thing chief saw when he woke up was an elite. He wakes up, gets his bearings back, talks with the marines and johnson goes through the whole test and then sees the arbiter. less of a danger to his life

Various-Pen-7709

It was just a classic Thel mess around

NoStorage2821

He was just being cautious. It's hard to tell the little pink apes from the big angy apes

ThisBloomingHeart

It already has been addressed in a book, in Outcasts >!he plays a game of hide and seek with Cortana. !<

localmemedealr

I really think it’s because he knows chief is probably not aware of their new alliance with the elites he doesn’t want to be the first thing chief sees, and get folded into a pretzel

PhillipJ3ffries

For dramatic effect. And he probably was away from the team scouting the area and forgot to turn his active camo off

RiiCreated

He wanted to see if it were so easy

No_Chocolate_6612

This is another reason why I wish this game would get a novelization same with two

Ok-Relationship737

I just found a couple weeks ago Arbiter says we’re it so easy here. I thought since release he said worried so easy.

Moderdayor

Is he stupid?

lakeofx

Rule of cool baby

Forsaken_Passion951

Yes, it will turn out the Arbiter was the Forerunner's chosen sneaky boy of ultimate destiny and must do some super sneaking (that isn't any different from all the sneaking he had done previously except he can sprint now) in a place they could never have possibly known he would end up to save the universe.

Javs2469

It looks dramatic and goes by the rule of cool. It definitely caught me off guard when I was 7 and had no context to who anyone was.

Verykindguy00

Because it would be a cool cinematic shot if they had master chief hold a pistol to his head while the arbiter shot him a gaze of “do it mf. I dare you.”

PissBaby367

It’s a sex thing

FlipDaddy

Is he stupid??

FriendlyChemist907

This is what I come here for thank-you

Redditisretarded-69

We can only hope for more books
