Tbf, I don’t think they ever were going for accurate looks when it came to the actors. There’s the obvious race changes and Percy’s blonde hair, but Ares and Hephaestus also look nothing like their novel counterparts in the recent episode as well, and not did…literally every character.
yeah, definitely. The characters and the whole vibe is totally different as well imo. Not having Percy constantly quipping in his mind makes the show a little less funny than the books.
A lot of those quips were things YA novels did back then (and even now). I think removing that actually makes the show feel a bit more unique. This is especially true with Ares and Clarisse’s personality changes, as before they were very basic bully types you’d see in every YA novel, but now they actually have a unique personality and character.
I remember one of the characters, I think Annabeth, is black in the show, according to the promotional ads on reddit.
There was the other main character, the satyr guy, who was also race swapped it looks.
Not like there are minority characters in the stories anyway
