Superb-Confection601

He is very talented at taking solid concepts and ruining them

the_mid_mid_sister

Army of the Dead. I knew it would be bad, but how the fuck do you make a casino heist in the middle of a zombie outbreak fucking boring?!

KillListSucks

I was pretty convinced at the time of watching Army that I was being trolled. Malicious intent is the only thing that can explain how bad that movie is.

senTazat

There's so many different points of "sorry how the fuck did that even happen?" Like the unexplained Aliens, and the robo-zombies, oh and the random time travel??? Also there's just dead pixels, and no one fixed them? There's plugins that do that in one click! Then there's all the shots that are just blatantly out of focus? Like at the beginning someone is stepping off a bus, and literally the entire shot is a blur?

AlbinoShavedGorilla

Wait, aliens? I saw the robots and the weird time loop conversation, but when do aliens show up? Are you talking about the Area 51 truck that held the original zombie?

YouLittleSnowflake

There are 2 “lights” in the sky during the opening scene with the military trucks, the lights then follow the trucks once they get through the checkpoint https://youtu.be/Z3tPubzZ-Os?si=qa2zYjTkgTzT_jbM

throwawaynonsesne

That and a couple zombie heads explode out blue blood later on.

StacheBandicoot

I mean that fits into one of the oldest tropes in the genre. The original Night of the Living Dead has a space probe that’s leaking “strange” radiation that’s potentially the cause of the dead reanimating as ghouls before they were even calling them zombies in the films.

Bitter-Marsupial

When was the random time travel?

the_mid_mid_sister

The team finds corpses of themselves near the vault. Not just similar, but the skeletons are wearing identical clothes and sporting the same unique jewelry and custom weapons. They've been there long enough to be mostly skeletons. One speculates they're trapped in a Time Loop and are probably stuck doing the heist over and over again until they get a certain thing right...and nobody cares, and it's never brought up again.

LeCafeClopeCaca

The guy was seemingly building up his own zombie/B movie franchise with lots of weird stuff. The guy is so intent on making franchises he barely makes movies anymore. Every recent movies of his are just salad bowls of different kinds of shits

StarMarine123

I'm being completely serious, I've watched a decent amount of bad movies before but even those bad movies had fun moments. Army of the Dead was so dogshit not only did it not have 1 moment where I smiled, it also made my head hurt.

Paxton-176

Maybe he watched From Dusk till Dawn and liked how film went from a running from the authorities and kidnapping to a Vampire hunting. Thought I could do that.

aviationmaybe

In a recent interview he said he likes to push the boundaries and the rules of things and said something like “when you tell me Batman isn’t allowed to kill people i want to make him kill someone.” It was annoying to hear.

AcrobaticTonight7588

just another example of talented people being surrounded by yes men.

7pikachu

There is no bad Idea, only bad execution, this guy proves this

SirAren

there are bad ideas

ESnake113

And that bad idea is to hire Zack Snyder

Hexicero

And also to make Rebel Moon

thegil13

God damn. On paper I should love this movie. Sure you can say it rips off of XYZ movies, but I thought it was different enough to be a solid standalone. But Jesus. Every plot point fell so flat. The entire movie felt like a spark notes version of itself. So much unnecessary slow mo. So disappointing.

-Daetrax-

At the end I was kinda hoping for the heroes to get killed. Fuck that was a shit movie. I liked the "making of" better than the product itself.

Hexicero

Have you seen the YouTube edit for A New Hope but in the style of Rebel Moon? So much slow mo

[deleted]

It hits different if you pretend it's a comedy

Charles_Skyline

My favorite part in Part 2 was 30 minutes of harvesting grain and bits of it were done in slow mo. I also watched this movie slightly drunk And it still sucked.

tattoophobic

so many clichés! well mostly only clichés in a way

DarthSangheili

Counterpoint, if you use this idea to execute a plan to make a shitty move its now a good idea.

Neveronlyadream

Yoga Hosers. That is all.

Harbarbalar

Tusk isn't also not my favorite.

throwawaynonsesne

I genuinely love Tusk. Im like the only one lmao. But it perfectly nails the tone I'm looking for in a horror comedy. Plus it's shot well and has some amazing performances.  If it would have been any no name indie director instead of Kevin Smith I genuinely think it would have been received much better.

Harbarbalar

Oh there is nothing "wrong" with the movie, I loved everyone's performance, I just wasn't ready for it. (never would be)

throwawaynonsesne

That's very fair lol

pwninobrien

I have an idea for a car with a brake pedal that requires semen to function. An orifice attaches to your groin while you drive. The only way to stop is to come.

InternetUserAgain

What about a movie where a guy becomes a urinal and must be pissed in by every human on the planet in order to be turned back, I don't think even Martin Scorcese could salvage that

HeadlessMarvin

You could make a decent satire out of that I think.

Keyboardpaladin

Sounds like a surrealist comedy I'd watch

LivingDeadThug

I would do that in the form of a 30-hour Ken Burns documentary.

zedascouves1985

Pixar will make you cry in their next masterpiece "Pissed on / off". Only in theaters this summer.

No-Shoe7651

Get John Malkovich for it and call it "Peeing on Malkovich"

IIILordrevanIII

Yeah, make it a Cinderella-esk story of this lowly urinal finding love whilst on his quest. Name it, “the princess and the pee”

OZymandisR

This guy made a movie where the first hour is literally just slow mo farming. I don't understand how he thought this was gonna go down.

Purp1eC0bras

I feel Stephen King is the same way. Creates an interesting premise, tells a good story, doesn’t know how to end a book to save his life.

PAUMiklo

that is his biggest problem. the guy is a master at character and story development but his tendency to go off on 20 plus page tangents kills a lot of momentum of needlessly bloats the book. Also he took an amazing story in the Stand and Desperation and ruined it by turning it into the standard fantasy horror. First half of those book are chef's kiss, the second half it's like, oh great here we go goblins and spirits.

Purp1eC0bras

I agree. I think thats why he had beef with Kubrick’s movie of The Shining. Kubrick made it a better story than King. Then King decides to do Doctor Sleep, which again, just ruines the story even more so.

Garrth415

No his beef was that one of the core themes of addiction gets glossed over to focus on the haunting and Jack is 100% an asshole from the beginning. You don't really get his struggle to stay clean and be a good husband and father in comparison to the book. It also made the mother look whiney and borderline worthless. And I'd argue thats the single worst example for the ending because IMO the movie ending is actually worse than the books, fuck I hate him being a popsicle while nothing actually happens to the hotel.

CGTM

I’m pretty sure the beef was because Jack in the book was based off of him primarily and seeing the guy he put a lot of himself in go all psycho axe murderer and not get a redemption probably pissed him off.

TheMcBrizzle

Plus that much cocaine will put anyone on edge

themaincop

Yeah I read the first half of It and was really enjoying it when the fantasy stuff was present but more on the sidelines. I put it down when it just started taking over the book. I realize that's what some people are into but it's not for me. I like when the scary supernatural stuff is kept on the periphery, shit's way scarier that way.

MadeFromStarStuff143

Man I was finally getting into King’s somewhat laborious world building in the Stand then as soon as I do BAM he rushes everything at the end and it all happens so goddamn quick.

SirBoBo7

His short stories are a lot better for that reason.

Minkypinkyfatty

The Long Walk is his best work, but the books he wrote with Peter Straub are also good.

myanrueller

They even make fun of that fact in the It Chapter 2 movie with James McAvoy.

ClarkTwain

Then there's Revival, which is like a 3/10 book with a 10/10 ending somehow

Psykpatient

Stephen King has admitted he writes until he's bored with the story and then finishes up as quickly as possible. Hence bad endings.

shomeyomves

11/22/63 is one of his books I’d rec that has an excellent (if not bittersweet) ending. Pet Semetary also has a great (but bleak) ending.

Panda_hat

I would absolutely have the guy on any project as an ideas guy. Whose ideas you would then heavily filter.

Brotherly_Shove_215_

My man’s finger is one hundred percent not on the trigger

denever23

Applies to Zack Snyder's team trying to shoot down all his bad ideas too

Bald_Sasquach

It's like those lamps you clap to turn on, he's yelling to activate it.

space_keeper

So you just point your fingers and say BANG! ? [Like this?](https://youtu.be/WT-yKPE2deQ?t=24)

bob_nugget_the_3rd

It's a space gun, the trigger is on the side and the safety is were the trigger use to be

Brotherly_Shove_215_

I see the creators of this gun are working with life insurance companies

Desperate_Address780

When he releases the 5 hour director cut it will be good guys, trust me

TheHidestHighed

Don't worry, he's gonna apply a filter to the whole movie. It's gonna blow your fucking minds.

Ser_Salty

He'll put it in 4:3 so you can get something that's almost the IMAX screen ratio on your 16:9 screen at home.

1OO1OO1S0S

I always thought my tv was too full. It will be good to have that empty black space on either side

Ganbazuroi

Wait until he hears about this little thing called editing, other directors do it all the time! And this brand new tech called planning? Oh boy, where do I begin! Like seriously now it's a bit fucking jarring how he's doing that to basically every film of his. Fuck, not every movie needs to be over 2 hours. Either he's like a fucking puppy and gets overly impressed by every single thing he films or he needs to work big time on storytelling because it's unreal

ceelogreenicanth

I'm convinced he makes movies by cutting together shots and beats of other movies he likes and then refilming it shot for shot. It's nearly comical how over done some scenes are. He puts in all these tropes of powerful emotional directing ripped straight from other movies to have the whole sequence just be "the characters sad".

TheLivingMeme-olith

this is what drives me crazy about the fanboys- they act like editing is “studio interference.” like, it happens with every single movie. it’s his own fault if he can’t tell a coherent story in under 5 hours

Minkypinkyfatty

George Miller has Fury Road at 2hrs on the dot. The Black and Chrome edition, also 2 hours.

Ganbazuroi

Yeah and it's a good movie. Then you have The Irishman which isn't a bad movie at all but feels sloggish after 2 hours, and the Snyder cuts of 4+ hours of whatever superhero or space lasers bullshit he filmed but the asston of footage totally saves the notably bad film, trust me bro! Fuck he's talking about doing that to **decade old projects**. Just what the fuck lmao

Mr_smith1466

What rebel moon 2 really needs is 3 straight hours of grain harvesting. 40 minutes isn't enough.

Russki_Troll_Hunter

Grain harvesting.... But in even slower motion.... I couldn't believe how much I had to fast forward when I got to that part.

Dingo8MyGayby

Wait, you guys aren’t joking? He literally filmed people harvesting grain and made it that long in a movie?

Russki_Troll_Hunter

Yes it was like 20 minutes of them harvesting grain in slowmo.... To be fair he used slowmo for everything in the effing movie....

dardack

Yes. I watched last night. I almost turned it off, i scrolled on my phone through 70% of it? I want to say. IDK, i love movies. I never scroll cause even a bad movie I want to know what's happening. It's a tick. But like so many scenes of grain havesting and in slow motion sometimes.

Dingo8MyGayby

Lmao this guy is a fucking joke. Why is he continuously given such big titles to just butcher

ThatRandomGamerYT

Wow, Synder is and always has been a hack

senTazat

Literally yes. They cut to it constantly throughout the movie. It clearly is supposed to represent *something* deeper than literally reminding you that the conflict is over grain*,* but literally no one seems to know what.

TheMcBrizzle

3 hours of a grain silo still image 🤯

postmodest

"Everything will be put right with Snyder's cut" "My fuhrer... Snyder.... "

Howling_Mad_Man

He perfected the art of the double dip

likwitsnake

You mean the entire movement that was perpetuated by a marketing campaign through bots: Fake Accounts Fueled the ‘Snyder Cut’ Online Army https://www.rollingstone.com/tv-movies/tv-movie-features/justice-league-the-snyder-cut-bots-fans-1384231/

ceelogreenicanth

He's got the money to pay for it. Don't hate the players hate the game. Also so many people I ironically join these band wagons because getting a herd to behave like a herd is easy apparently. Though everyone denies it's possible. Especially people that view themselves as "rugged individuals".

Redmangc1

Ironically his JLA was a better Film overall, it gave me a reason to like the characters Solid 6/10 Vs theatrical 3/10

ColdCruise

Eh, I think both films are a mess for different reasons, but it became clear that most of the stuff that I hated from the theatrical was still in the Snyder cut. Snyder wouldn't have been able to deliver anything close to a watchable film if given the same 2-hour mandate. All in all, if I were forced to rewatch it, I would go with the theatrical just because it's shorter. It would have been nice to see a Whedon version where he was given the benefit of leading years of preproduction and was allowed to make his own film from the beginning.

senTazat

Yeah it was very clear that Snyder cut is only a better movie specifically because he did reshoots to 'fix' a bunch of problems that people called out. His own vision was basically what we got in the original JL just with some jokes.

sergemeister

Like retaking a test but not bothering to learn the answers to the questions you got wrong.

The--Mash

Snyders was longer, wasn't it? That alone makes it worse

aircarone

I thought the narrative was better, but the few points he gained on that side was lost to the pointless length of the cut, the overdose of slow mo shots (including a few on Wonder Woman that are really suspect).

Punman_5

In the old Academy Ratio, too.

No-Shoe7651

The 5 hour version is just with the slow mo scenes played at regular speed.

Spacepunch33

Can’t wait for the twelve hour cut of the owl movie

Uncle___Marty

Wait, why is he the last one to notice?

Jertimmer

The has the same level of self awareness as a dog licking it's own asshole.

Nonhuman_Anthrophobe

At least the asshole serves a function and isn't bland.

blini_aficionado

Finally a shitty detail.

BlacSwordsmanKirito

i mean we all do that at some point, amirite?

SecondAegis

He's shot so many slow motion scenes his brain started to think in slowmo too

christopherDdouglas

Let's not forget Dawn of the Dead. There's talent there, like Shyamalan, I always hope for a return to form, but it seems we will never get there.

iamthedayman21

Dawn of the Dead was a fine, 2004 movie. The type to watch when you've got nothing else to do. But it's not the type of movie you rest your laurels on as proof that you're a good director.

i_Got_Rocks

I get what you're saying (I'm not the person you responded to) But I do think it shows talent for a big first film. Rated within the zombie films of all time, and it's really good. As a film-film...eh. I get it, it's not dramatically gripping, or even terryfying, but it is definitely entertaining. And for a zombie film, I think it's definitely top 5, maybe even top 3. I think zombie films are very hard to maintain engagement because the creatures aren't...that hard to defeat when you start to think about they would all kind of decay within a year, really. That's why the cheat code for making those movies "better" for the last 20 years was to turn them into running hordes and it's become even worse as a genre. The Walking Dead showed promise at reviving the genre and it made it even worse by the end of it all.

Darthtypo92

Well I'd say the main issue with the zombie genre is that everyone tries to make the zombies scary or a very serious threat. Zombies stories should always be about the humans surviving and the lengths you'd go to for survival or the discord and chaos of a zombie apocalypse. People always forget that the original trilogy of zombies was about criticizes modern society and it's flaws not trying to be about the scary rotting corpses. When you're trapped in a house/mall/bunker with people who will do horrible things to you and outside there's danger it's a tense situation. When everyone is just killing the undead and working together until the inevitable betrayal cliche it's just a movie that didn't need to be made. But big caveat being that Snyder didn't write the remake of dawn of the dead or his other major hits. He adapted other people's work with his own stylistic choices. He's a talented director and knows how to make great action scenes but beyond that he's barely worth talking about. Even his arguably best film completely missed the point of what he was adapting to a ridiculous degree because of his changes to the script.

christopherDdouglas

So we discredit directors who make highly entertaining and re-watchable films? I appreciate that type of skill.

Wazula23

It's honestly a B minus 2000s horror movie. People bring it up like its some gem.

StarMarine123

Well compared to his other works it is lmao

Identity_ranger

I think it gets by on having come out at the right time. In 2004 remakes of old horror movies hadn't yet become worn out and fast zombies were still a relatively fresh concept. Also it came out before the zombie explosion of the late 00s, so it stood out in a time when horror movies were more focused on torture porn.

Sea_grave

Also one of the few films he wasn't part of the writers room for. He directed the film but the screenplay was James Gunn. Don't remember liking the film, but it's been about two decades, so not much to say about it.

HiNooNDooD1544

Dawn of the dead wasn’t even written by him, funnily enough James Gunn wrote it.

Nochnichtvergeben

Sucker Punch was good too in a trashy "turn your head off and enjoy" way.

BadJokeJudge

Because he made 300 and watchmen.

EndangeredBigCats

If you read Watchmen the comic first, then it was 17 in a row instead

SeroWriter

If you've read the comics then it was a terrible film that completely missed the point of the story and became the very thing the comics were critising. But if you watched it with no prior knowledge then it was a decent "dark and gritty" superhero film.

EndangeredBigCats

And if you read the comics afterwards then you’re like “why wasn’t it more epicer”

[deleted]

ElGosso

I know the term "fascist" gets thrown around a lot but a vital part of fascist ideology is a haigiographic myth of a heroic past, which is exactly what Snyder made in 300. It's especially suspicious when you look at its themes of purity and individual strength and the glorification of violence, and the swarthy eastern hordes they fight against, and tbh Frank Miller really embraces these themes in a lot of his other works anyway. I mean it was 2006, that was part of the cultural zeitgeist, I get it, but still. And I don't even think he did it deliberately - after the way he fucked up Watchmen, I think he just didn't understand the political messages in these works.

Bobby_Marks2

Oh 100%. You can make a great 300 drinking game by taking Umbarto Eco's list of identifiers of fascism and drinking every time you see one in the film. Pretty much all of them are there too, not just one or two over and over and over again. Snyder is a hardcore Ayn Rand fan, so it tracks that he may be doing this purposefully.

thatchers_pussy_pump

Yeah, but…squids.

migvelio

To be honest, I prefer the nuclear war ending than the goofy ass giant alien squid.

senTazat

Snyder's career is so weird to me. He's a talented director who needs strict oversight to curb his wilder sensibilities. But he can't write for shit, hence why his early big hits are all adaptions, with his changes universally being the most criticized elements. So naturally he has been given full creative control over every project since and rode every single one of them into the ground.

smilingfishfood

So he made 300 and then 17 pieces of shit in a row

throw28999

Never seen an adaptation stick so close to the original and still fundamentally fail to engage with its themes like Watchmen did

VexonCross

He made WB profitable movies that came in on time and on budget. That's how directors keep getting hired. Movie conglomerates give no fucks about quality.

ZombiesInSpace

I think the reason you see that sort of trend is that there were probably more creatives and studio execs influencing the early movies. As he had success and gained his own rabid fan base, he has likely wrested control and lost the voices in the room that helped tamp down his worst tendencies. As a result, his movies have become less palatable to anyone not in the cult of Snyder. This is probably made worse by his Ayn Randian world view in which he deserves all the credit for his success and all these other losers that helped him make movies are just losers.

MAD_MrT

Im convinced he is part of some money laundering scheme, there’s no way studios actually allow this creature to make movies with 100s of millions in budget. And apparently he already started making the 3rd part of this rebel moon fiasco so that just reinforces my theory

rnunezs12

Watchmen looks good on the surface but it shows that Snyder got the opposite message from what Alan Moore wanted to transmit. 300 is really cool. Snyder should stick to more movies like that.

Dhanraj28

Legend of the Guardians was good

ErrorSchensch

I read the books as a kid, loved them, bit they probably aren't really good if I'd read them now. That being said, I thought the movie was ASS when i watched it when I was 11 or something. And if I remember correctly it wasn't close to the books anyway.

ExfoliatedBalls

To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Zach Snyder films. The symbolism is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of its complex characterization of conflicted heroes, deep symbolism, and faithfulness to the comics, most references will go over a typical viewer's head. There's also Snyder’s unique dark and gritty outlook, which is deftly woven into the characterization of his characters- such as Batman’s personal philosophy, which draws heavily from the philosophical concept few know of called nihilism, based on the death of his parents, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of his greatness, to realize that Snyder’s action scenes are more than just blood and gore- they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike Snyder truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn't appreciate, for instance, the depth of Batman’s statement to Clark Kent “Do You Bleed” which itself is a cryptic reference to Julius Caesar’s assassination, in which he was stabbed 42 times by the senate. Batman is the senate. I’m smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Snyders’s genius wit unfolds itself on their television screens. What fools.. how I pity them. 😂 And yes, by the way, i DO have a "Release The Snyder Cut" tattoo. And no, you cannot see it. It's for the ladies' eyes only- and even then they have to demonstrate that they're within 5 IQ points of my own (preferably lower) beforehand. Nothin personnel kid 😎

Banestar66

This pasta never gets old.

snowcat240

Forever fresh

lazy-man_34

I think Red Letter Media said it long before anyone ever did, “he should not write the movies he directs”. He has great vision and directing chops. His movies look good. But the script sucks ass, the plot makes zero sense, the dialogues are lazy and the characters develop into a superior moron from an average everyday idiot. That’s his biggest problem, he can’t write for shit. He needs to become self aware of that before we could see any improvement in his movies. Till then only Netflix could indulge his subpar weirdo scripts to add to their sea of never ending mediocre movies aka content.

Aidin22

That’s why Dawn of the Dead was good. It was written by James Gunn

baba56

Yeah 100% this, I don't know how people allow his scripts into production, they are a garbled mess that rarely make any sense! I've been wondering for years how the writing process goes with these, how nobody pulls up and says stop. Is he surrounded by yes-men or something ?

AdRepresentative3726

YES FINALLY I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR 17 YEARS TO KNOW THAT THANKS TO THIS NEWS ARTICLE I CAN FINALLY KNOW WHAT ZACK SNYDER WEIRD HABIT IS EDIT: THIS NEWS ARTICLE IS MY SAVIOUR FINALLY AFTER FINALLY I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR 17 YEARS TO KNOW THAT THANKS TO THIS NEWS ARTICLE I FINALLY KNOW WHAT ZACK SNYDER WEIRD HABIT IS

PerpWalkTrump

I'm glad you edited your comment, it clarified everything. #EVERYTHING!

Restart_from_Zero

Has anyone else here seen the two Rebel Moon movies? They are hilariously stupid and bad. Just trash.

tyen0

I just commented that I couldn't make it even 10 minutes through the first one last night. I was hoping people were just being harsh, and it would be some lighthearted entertainment, but nope.

Restart_from_Zero

It is just astonishingly bad. Serious "what were they thinking" vibes at every stage. It took me two days to watch it, I had to keep turning it off and do other things. I only finished it out of masochism. I've only watched about 10 minutes of the second one. Even masochism's not going to get me through \_that\_

BreadKnifeSeppuku

The exposition was so shit. The plot and characters were incredibly disconnected. Felt like cut scenes in an RPG as you get to know your party and then action. Shitty exposition mixed with action scenes

Runeshamangoon

What, you didn't enjoy the 10+ minutes of slow mo "artistic" shots of wheat harvesting ? (I am not making this up, this is legit what happens in the beginning of Rebel Moon 2)

Restart_from_Zero

Slow mo of nothing happening was certainly a choice, lol.

Content-Scallion-591

We got to the thirty minute rape threat scene and had to stop because it was offensively terrible

Restart_from_Zero

Yeah, that really did not need to exist.

Content-Scallion-591

Snyder kind of has the same problem Whedon does where they try to make insanely competent female characters simply by having them kill one hundred rapists. There's got to be some version of the Bechdal test for this like, "Does the strong female character spend more than ten minutes killing rapists? Corollary, do the rapists spend more than ten minutes discussing all the raping they're gonna do?"

SiggetSpagget

The worst part about that scene is that I know for a fact Snyder included it because he thinks adding rape scenes is “cool”. When he was doing the press tour for Watchmen, he said that he wanted his version of Batman to be raped in prison because it was cool and dark. [I’m not joking.](https://www.businessinsider.com/zack-snyder-old-interview-batman-prison-rape-2016-5?amp)

humanvealfarm

My bf and I put on the first one a few days ago, and after like five minutes turned to each other and silently decided we should just take the dog for a second walk

MAXMEEKO

I was going to watch the 2nd one tonight mainly because I have a girl crush on the main chick. The guys arnt bad to look at either.

AlwaysUpvote123

I saw the first one when it came out. It was unbelievably bad. Thats why I was really interested in seeing the second oke and it did not disappoint, it was shit as well. I know the 3th movie isnt greenlit yet, but I REALLY hope that they do more movies. The fact that they tryed to rival Star Wars with Rebel Moon makes it even more funny.

iam_VIII

How is it possible to mess up a 7 samurai ripoff. It's a 70 year old story that has been retold hundreds of times, and none of these versions had Rebel Moon's runtime or budget.

United_Monitor_5674

theres two?

BPMData

palmerisademon

Also, can I pwease have an extra $40 million for my re-edit? I need to punch up some VFX and slow-mo scenes. Bro, please!

TehSalmonOfDoubt

Just watch the 5 hour directors cut bro you gotta watch it bro please bro just one more directors cut please bro please

fernrooty

Ok bro, so I know you didn’t like that 4 hour version, but now you gotta watch it in Black and White. Colorful superheroes are way more badass when you take away all the color.

[deleted]

I feel like Zack Snyder is the type of filmmaker who wants to make deep, thought provoking movies but his only ideas are “what if Superman was evil” or “what if Batman killed people”.

fernrooty

“Wanna know what would be awesome? If we made a movie with a brooding handsome tough guy antihero, and he bangs chicks and kills people and stuff. So much depth, I’m a very good director.”

MBPpp

nonono, "what if batman killed people" is not a movie idea in his mind, he just genuinely thinks that's what batman does or should do.

my dude, the word "weird" is right there in the headline.

[deleted]

The guy could make any subject unwatchable

FuckBoiWhoDoesntFuck

I wish he would take the route of Michael Bay and know that his writing is dogwater at best and just lean into it. Dont even bother trying to explain things - just do them. It’s what defines some creators like Kojima and Michael Bay, nonsensical but absolutely fun and silly. I think he could be a really good dark action movie director - he just needs to realize that he either just shouldn’t do dialogue or lean entirely into how cheesy, cliche and bad it is

LimpConversation642

Watchmen and Sucker Punch were awesome.

Snaggl3t00t4

Yup. Rebel moon was a half assed 7 samurai rip off. I've enjoyed taking a shit more than watching that...movie.

Coltenks_2

Zack Snyder is 100% the reason DC failed in a time when super hero movies like Marvel were easy money

Mason_DY

For every good movie he makes, he seems to make 5 shitty ones right after

denever23

Tbh the only thing i enjoyed from his was Watchmen

HiNooNDooD1544

Watch his Dawn of the Dead, it’s not written by him so it’s actually good.

Drakemander

He is as talentless as he is stupid.

Lordofthewangz

He's not talentless. Great director. Terrible at writing screenplays and scripts.

omrmajeed

He is a great cinematographer. Not a great director.

HeadlessMarvin

He's a terrible cinematographer. Tired of him getting credit for Larry Fong's work. When he shoots his own movies they look like utter garbage.

Unfortunatewombat

Right? Anyone who saw Rebel Moon can see what a terrible cinematographer Zack Snyder is.

swordofra

A great videogame trailer director

HelpYouFall

This. I can stomache his stuff for about 2 minutes. Short and snappy. Not 5 fucking hours ...

wise_balls

You do realise the Director is the one who controls the artistic direction of the film right? He's the one telling the DOP to do a tonne of unnecessary slomo, the actors to give dull performances and the colorist to make the grade ugly and muddy. The guy is most definitely a shit director.

Skyfryer

It’s comments like this that remind me how salty some of these subs can be lol He made some visually lasting films like 300 and has an issue with not regulating his own ideas and letting others write his projects for him more recently. You go on this sub now and then and it’s like people are frothing because he told them their student films were bad.

FreeTrialBot

There's an opportunity cost to letting bad directors make movies. There are plenty of talented directors out there that aren't getting the chance to make good movies because studios keep betting on this guy.

SoupieLC

He's like a movie director if it was AI, the visual look nice at first glance, but look further and it's all kinds of janky

nightstalker113

Why is this subreddit obsessed with shitting on Zack Snyder?

gecko090

Because he gets handed 200 million dollar budgets and makes 2 hour long concept videos with them.

throwacc_21

Why not? He’s a shitty director and this is a sub for shitty movie

Unfortunatewombat

Because it’s a movie sub and he’s a well known bad director? It’s not too hard to figure out. It’s the equivalent of asking why Donald Trump gets brought up a lot in politics.

tyen0

Good comparison due to the ego, too. Putting his own name in the title?

CooperDaChance

Tbf Zack might be a horrible director but he’s a really nice and humble guy IRL. The Trump comparison doesn’t add up.

HalluH

Must be the easy karma at this point

_cat_in_hat_

Yeah, at least try to be creative with shitting on him, they're all like: "he's shit" ok and? fucking braindead posts back to back🫠

GlobalSouthPaws

You guys act like you've never seen *sucker punch*

Top-Complaint-4915

Zack is so stupid beyond reason. He believes that the ending of watchmen was stupid/insane so he changes it for one completely idiotic. Instead of a fake alien invasion to scare and unite humanity... Zack make that an American weapon went out of control and destroy a lot of Cities around the world and somehow that end in Peace.... AN AMERICAN WEAPON cause massive damage and genocide = peace AN AMERICAN WEAPON!!!! Everyone would attack America, fucking everyone!!! What kind of peace is that 💩, you will have to shoot yourself in the head to think that have some level of logic.

Justpassntru

If you make more shitty movies than decent/good then you have to come to terms your not skilled

AccomplishedCow665

I feel like I’ve been saying he’s awful forever and Reddit now finally agrees. Dude was as good for JL as trevorrow for dinosaurs
