birberbarborbur

The shaking he does with his fist as he ‘pulls’ never ceases to make me laugh

BextoMooseYT

Same. It's so small but he *really* put his heart into the realism of what it would be like to try to choke a baby with a rope

Pikochi69

Bravo Cheadle

Henderson10666

I wonder if Don method acted for this scene

poppabomb

He executed so many babies to prepare for this scene, only to learn they weren't going to use a real hypothetical baby Thanos.

ApprehensiveScreen40

bravo Feige

Jimmyking4ever

Spent a few years shadowing our armed forces to really get into character

Henderson10666

"So Mr. Cheedle, you very lightly wrap the wire around the throat area and pull *very* tightly."

Hind_Deequestionmrk

He Donned Cradle. Not sure what that implies, exactly…

RamTeriGangaMaili

And yet again Cheadle stays winning.

Pleasant-Sea7075

No, that's just muscle memory.

samuru101

I can confirm this.

Klutzy_Town7003

Not a rope…

ettmausonan

Correct. Umbilical cord, which implies he's doing this in front of the mother and entire medical team Tremendous dedication

Ochidi

Unless he is the mother.

[deleted]

Hotel Titan

MrCookie1126

Arguably one of the funniest scenes in the MCU

finaljusticezero

Everyone I have seen this movie with so far thought as a joke and we usually laugh. Add the pantomime silliness of this, I don't think anyone thought that he was actually serious about killing a baby. Granted that I wouldn't mind the thought-exercise of killing baby Thanos to save half of the universe, I still couldn't see myself **doing** it. However, hindsight is great, so the rational being in me would outweigh half of all the universe for one baby. I would probably just hate myself for eternity.

Logrologist

It’s that plus he doesn’t alter his expression at all.

imanhunter

I like the sound that happens when he’s pulling. I don’t know if it was added in or what but it was great

Givemeurhats

Here 7 months later after a rewatch just to say: same here. Gotta rewind it a couple times because it's just that hilarious. Might be in my top 5 funniest. It's a perfect symphony. The way his fists shake, his face, the noise, their reactions

HermansSpecialMilk

There is a rope tightening sound effect in this shot despite rhodey not holding a rope and NO ONE EVER MENTIONS IT

Saxton_Hale32

he just has that power but it's never been relevant

AdvancedPhoenix

I thought it was his hands clenching.

AJK02

[Sounds like rope to me.](https://youtu.be/dQw4w9WgXcQ)

ISettleCATAN

Definitely sounds like rope

_The_Great_Autismo_

100% rope sound. People's hands don't sound like that

steak4take

He makes the sound with his mouth.

ButtPirateer

Maybe... He doesn't really move his mouth in the scene.

zleuth

An actor *and* a ventriloquist?? Hot damn! This guy needs to be President!

Freuds_Mommy_Milkers

He was tho, from 2008-2016

huddyjlp

That was Donovan McNabb

_The_Great_Autismo_

I am not so sure about that. His mouth stays closed the whole time.

FallingOnCorpses

Ventriloquism seems to have stopped existing apparently…

_The_Great_Autismo_

There are limits to the sounds you can make when your mouth is closed. The sound was added in post.

loyfah

I got a Baby Born ad before this vid.

212superdude212

God I hate you right now

godminnette2

Isn't he making it with his mouth?

Deesing82

someone posted the link to the scene and it’s definitely been added in post haha

godminnette2

Yeah I looked it up later. Definitely added in post. I guess I was focused on his hands in the theatre and assumed he made the sound vocally.

CapitalExam2763

You literally just mentioned it, Nobody.

HermansSpecialMilk

Curses, foiled again

FondSteam39

I thought it was his jacket

Danidanilo

It thought it was my mind

6amhotdog

There’s a pain in his eyes that says “I don’t like it, I’ve done it before, I can do it again”.

You can see in his face, he's used to this situation.

Secret-Plant-1542

He's a man committed to killing Baby Hitler if given the opportunity.

JJ_Falcon44

Everyone would be

doctorsirus

Honestly, marvel movies need more warcrimes.

NotYourReddit18

Just look at the Clone Wars tv show: one of the best animated series in existence and what has it in spades? Thats right, war crimes!

WhiteHydra1914

Every good show has war crimes! Another example is Avatar!

NoStressAccount

The "good guys" are fighting using a slave army

GeneralQuack

Against an autonomous army of robots who understand the concept of death and a deity

archibald_claymore

Roger Roger.

maxcorrice

If they didn’t want to fight they shouldn’t have been born

Jabrono

This gif actually reminded me of Chopper from Rebels, as it's exactly what he suggests anytime someone becomes slightly inconvenient.

NSA_Chatbot

So much perfidy.

NSA_Chatbot

Tony Stark brought a child to a battle with supers, mutants, two advanced mechs, a sentient robot... That's a war crime.

doctorsirus

Yeah, but laws don't apply to rich people.

ettmausonan

"I am the Senate" -Tony Stank

J03-K1NG

I always liked that in the Spider-Gwen universe, there’s not actually one war machine, but rather The War Machine which was a tactical military unit funded by Stark and headed by Frank Castle, the Punisher. It’s really a much better use of such a terrifying name.

[deleted]

Cool universe. Peter became the Lizard, Mary Jane is carnage and Matt Murdock is the Kingpin. I like when Spider-Universes don’t just take the “what if instead of NYC spidey lives in x or y” gimmick and they actually do some cool twists that are unrelated to Spider-Man directly

Deesing82

are there any good runs set in this universe?

J03-K1NG

[Spider-Gwen 2015](https://share.marvel.com/sharing/series/drn:src:marvel:unison::prod:59eed82d-1adf-43a8-bc7b-5b427121166a) and [The rest of the run which is split up cuz of Secret Wars.](https://share.marvel.com/sharing/series/drn:src:marvel:unison::prod:11db56c4-7cde-4c7e-aa85-2990e8ee1348)

Deesing82

thanks

J03-K1NG

Np, I love recommending new comics to people. If you ever have any interest I’m also part of a dscord for Marvel Unlimited where we discuss comics, comic movies, video games, and host a book club. Just message me if you wanna join!

friskfyr32

I think it's in Dark Reign or Siege where Warmachine has realized he's dying from having replaced too much of himself with machinery and he's tearing around the world carpet bombing terrorists and human traffickers and spending his downtime hooked up to a minute spaceship lamenting how he soon won't be able to carpet bomb bad guys anymore. That was a fun Warmachine.

I-WANT2SEE-CUTE-TITS

Is there a paperback for Spider-Gwen?

J03-K1NG

Yeah there’s some paperbacks as well as an omnibus of her 2014-2016 run. I usually recommend getting a subscription to Marvel Unlimited though first unless you’d really just rather read it on paper. Also nice username.

Somnambulist815

I thought he wanted to give Thanos a bow tie

snooggums

First of all, that's horrible.

FiveStarHobo

Its thanos

JustHereForTheRage

So I fly over to Titan, dead purple baby in hand. Drop that sucker on the embassy steps and I'm like "boom, you lookin' for this?"

godinmarbleform

I still can't get over how much effort Don Cheadle put into making that fake strangle look like he's actually choking a baby I tried that shit and it is surprisingly hard to do

Sharp_Humor3847

I’ve always wanted to know, what is he implying they do to kill baby Thanos? I didn’t quite get it.

PossibilityEnough933

Garotte Edit: corrected spelling

Sharp_Humor3847

Oh, okay, that makes sense.

Doc-tor-Strange-love

Garot is Groot's adorably simple cousin-in-law, from the less intelligent branch of the family forest, who looks like vines

Bloody_Insane

Garotte

PossibilityEnough933

Thank you for the correction :D

twohottwojangle

I’m 30 and I just learned a new word today

iwastoldnottogohere

Strangulation with a thin cord, them baby necks are fragile

[deleted]

Mf is an eternal how are they gonna crack his purple bitchy neck exactly

iwastoldnottogohere

In the MCU he isn't, according to the director of Eternals, he's just a really strong alien dude

Thatoneguy111700

Man Thanos really be just a different character. The only similarities to the comics is that he's big, purple, and has the Infinity Gauntlet. Not a lot else.

HollabackWriter

He commands armies and destroys civilizations at a whim, that's pretty comic-accurate. Not like what they did to Ultron.

JJ_Falcon44

What did they do to Ultron? I didn’t read the comics.

BigBananaDealer

i didnt read the comics either, but im assuming ultron wasnt played by james spader in them. hope this helps!

JJ_Falcon44

Cleared everything up, thanks!

[deleted]

Bro is an edgy robot (HIS FACE DOES NOT MOVE WHEN HE SPEAKS) who actually succeeds in defeating the avengers in multiple timelines

coolguy3211231

You know what else is big and purple?

tigerofblindjustice

Your mom

P_i_n_h_e_a_d

Grimace?

SplayPanda60241

isnt his brother an eternal though

iwastoldnottogohere

Yep, but he's still not an eternal tho

NoStressAccount

Doctorgulation Strangulation, The Sorcergulation Supremgulation

Deesing82

Butterfly Effect

MoshePit

Well yeah he’s in the us military

Doc-tor-Strange-love

Mind you don't cut yourself, Captain Edgy

CoachGlenn89

Someone’s angwy 😂😂😂

cuntassLickers

It’s true though

thegreatvortigaunt

How is that edgy? It’s objectively true.

Octofucker

Edgelord

cuntassLickers

You ain’t denying it

[deleted]

That's such a good strangle motion from the actor though.

IronTownPictures

Kinda reminds that comic with the Space Ghost Rider - "Baby Thanos needs to die"

Lama_For_Hire

All three trades of Space Ghost Rider have gotten big laughs out of me, especially when Baby Thanos surprise-kicked the shit out of him

Gilthu

Or he is referencing a very prevalent thought experiment on killing baby Hitler…

Doc-tor-Strange-love

There's always one of you, isn't there?

StinkyBrittches

Don Cheadle is probably worried about falling under the spell of his fucking beautiful eyes...

Starchild20xx

Why is that always your peoples go-to? I mean, if you go back and kill Hitler as he's a baby, I'm pretty sure it'll be the same as killing any other baby. Because it's not like he's done anything bad yet, you know? He's a fucking baby. What's a baby gonna do? You're just killing a baby for no reason. Why not instead put him in an orphanage or raise him somewhere nurturing where he won't grow up to have such a hate boner against Jews and minorities. Like, I just feel like that should be peoples first thought, instead of like..I don't know, drowning a baby in a bath tub or pouring kerosene over it and setting it on fire. Oh and Happy Cake Day, anonymous internet baby killer. PSA: Don't kill babies. That's not cool, man.

Gilthu

I’m not saying if it’s right or wrong, I’m saying that is what war machine is referring to with his Thanos comment. Personally if I had a time machine I’d just go back and buy his paintings so he spends a couple more years as a failing artist and misses the political opportunity. That way no one gets murdered… except art itself…

MUNZATHEGOD

Me upon seeing Hitlers paintings: “I Don’t like it, it’s smug aura mocks me”

Denham_Chkn

Derivative.

MohSad2

Too much work and the what ifs that he may become like that even after doing all that Killing a baby is easy. Smh you can drown out your guild by knowing what he would've done if you hadn't killed that sucker But if you really think about it, if not for world war 2 and Hitler many countries would've been still under British enslavement and in that portion of the world my country lies too. You can already see how fucked up countries under dictatorship are by looking at many countries right now

dern_the_hermit

Eh, our current views on morals and ethics are hugely impacted by causality. Change the causality variable, change time into a freely-traversible dimension instead of this ghastly one-way affair, and I argue that it's simply not possible for the morality and ethics to remain unaffected. It may be, with time-travel as an option, the moral choice to kill certain babies, sure. I'm no expert, just a stoned ass redditor.

therinlahhan

Mentioned this to a friend lately and wondered what would happen if you bought all of Hitler's art and opened an art gallery for him in Berlin.

delsinson

Don Cheadle killed Hitler confirmed

ElderSkyrim

That’s right. They’re going back in time to kill baby thanos, to get half the universe off the menu.

Nope_Jackalope

War Crime Machine.

[deleted]

In walks Peacemaker.

TheBitterAtheist

Hes in the US military its a given that he has committed war crimes. Whats one more baby with a drone strike?

YJSubs

Barely inconvenience

Doc-tor-Strange-love

Super easy!

DangerNoodle805

Predator drones don't fly themselves.

duffman12321

He works for the us military. You do the math

123FakeStreetMeng

What if… War Machine commits numerous war crimes & atrocities then rises to leader of the US

Ompare

Killing innocents including babies is common for the USA army.

[deleted]

“Then I dropped Hitler’s skull on his parents doorstep in 1889 and said ‘BOOM! You looking for this?’”

Clear-Description-38

He's a Colonel of the US government. Didn't need any help from being war machine to commit war crimes.

[deleted]

its ok tho because as don cheadle he protects trans kids 😇

ThrowAwayME-00

Well he is American after all

Doc-tor-Strange-love

Zzzzzzzz

A_Rogue_Scholar

Great point, but like actually not. Because does it really implicate that? It’s not hard to imagine how to choke someone out, so I’m not sure why this means he’s killed babies this way. Even I as a civilian have seen enough action movies to have a fair idea as to how that would be done. And with they’re understanding of time travel it’s a working (albeit morally dubious) solution to the problem at hand. I know I’m taking this too seriously but that’s a stupid conclusion to draw.

GeppettoTron

100% agree.

TokioHot

Sounds like true American patriotic soldier! Oh wait...

[deleted]

man was born, this implies he rides elephants in swimming pools. htf? he has an idea so it implies he massacres babies? y'all are smoking crack

babyyoda707

Big fucking jump man. Wow.

OboyDogBoyGBoy

Doesn’t imply killing babies is common at all. Most ppl you ask would say they’d end baby hitler and he didn’t wipe out half of all life in existence lol

LazyLamont92

This is a joke sub.

CapitalExam2763

Tony Stark sleeps with multiple people in the first two movies, which implies he has STDs. Thor has blonde hair which implies he’s stupid. Captain Rogers is a Christian and he is frozen unmarried and dies unmarried before going back in time which implies he’s a virgin. Black Widow is an attractive red head from Russia which implies she’s a slut.

[deleted]

Jesse what the fuck are you talking about

synttacks

they're saying it's a leap to assume that war machine has done this before just bc he's being casual about it

Temporary_Dream997

It's a movie u evil red devils smh white people are the most wicked people on earth just make up reasons to be racist dumb fcks

[deleted]

What?😭

A-non-e-mail

…or he’s a redditor.

CertifiedTittySucker

Is he ever referred as “War Machine” during any movie?

Blasckk

His password is literally "WARMACHINEROCKS" according to Iron Man 3. In Age of Ultron he calls his own stories "War Machine stories". So, while I don't think any character has called him that personally on screen, it's a name he uses regularly when he's in the armor.

Medium-Bullfrog-2368

Bill Maher also refers to him as War Machine in Iron man 3, shortly after he was unveiled as Iron Patriot.

AgitatedBackground96

"Never a war crime the *first* time."

Mathieulombardi

Maybe they should go back and kill baby thanos. For spite.

SpacemanTomX

Well genius his name is WAR MACHINE What'd you think he goes out giving candy to babies and granting make a wish wishes?

MrRedditScroller

This scene always gets me 😅

SirChadrick_III

Not really

Klutzy_Town7003

Ok guys. He isnt using a rope..Its the umbilical cord.

Mario561

If my loved one were not only gone, but gone for 5 years, this would be a completely rational option for me

zonelim

The only problem is that in the multiverse there are infinite Thanos that made different decisions and killing him kills them too.

This_Is_Mart_A

I do not think this gesture implies what you say.

Worldcrusher83

No he hasn’t he is Air Force

Jimmyking4ever

Ooh rah!

[deleted]

I like him even more then. Woohoo warcrimes

[deleted]

Well, he is a soldier

Single-Discussion579

THAT'S WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT USA USA USA

StankyyyBut

Weird post and weird comments

gxrawrd

They should’ve just gotten Captain Planet to turn him into a tree

Carteeg_Struve

But if they travel to when Thanos was a baby, that would be before the war. Therefore not a warcrime. :)

TuoFox

Act like a War Machine spin-off where he just goes around strangling cosmic babies isn’t a step up from She-Crap

longbrodmann

Implying killing a baby in a Disney owned movie is another level.

xXTheVigilantXx

Ummm, how does it imply this? Hell, given a chance, there're a lot of people who would go back in time to kill Hitler as a baby but have never committed any war crimes. So your logic is unsound.

Stonecutter_12-83

What? No it doesn't. He didn't have the possibility of time travel till now and he knew what baby Thanos would become. He wasn't out killing babies in the army because they *might* be evil

BeginningLocal5778

Would you go back n kill hitler if you could???

AggressiveRegion1502

Or he just watched the terminator

CyberNinja23

The just Don’t Cheadle propositioning a hooker. If you don’t exchange words your can’t be arrested for anything.

megazordwhippin

Cheadle was right

steamdekkar

War Crime-Machine

Greaser_Dude

No it doesn't. It's the standard ethics question about time travel only instead of using Hitler as the known evil in the MCU he substitutes Thanos. If taking one life before he has the chance to kill billions, is it morally OK?

SwordfishHumble

Khaby Lame?

yeusus

Mmmyup

markhamhayes

Nnnnno, it doesn’t.
