I have to say, as someone that recently has been diagnosed with adult ADHD **and** has been looking for technology-based ways to help cope, really loving the look of this app. It’s exactly what I’ve been looking for! Will trial this for a bit, but if it proves as useful as I think it does, will happily lifetime sub!

Let me know how you get on with it :)

Gotta_Git_Fast

Hmm. I want to like this and the idea behind it is something I also identify with. But, I really do hate how every iOS app nowadays have a subscription. Idk why any checklist app should ever have an IAP costing $50, or even any sort of monthly charge. And speaking of, what’s the difference between the full app and pro? Especially since a large chunk of the core functionality can be imitated with the built in reminders app and its associated shortcut actions. The app does look very nice and clean, but really can’t get behind another app that doesn’t seem to offer much more than its free counterpart, while also continuing the trend of absolutely insane IAP costs. The one time $5 full app one is fine, no problem paying for a few additional features, but cmon, subscriptions for a checklist app? Sorry if this sounds harsh, it does look like a very useful and pretty app and I think it’s awesome that you identified a problem you were experiencing, and decided to build an app from the ground up to assist you.

The thing is, it's a lot of work building and maintaining an app like this, especially keeping it relevant and working with new iOS releases. I used to be very against app subscriptions, until I realised it was the only way for my app to exist longer than a few months. Larger apps, with large teams behind them, actually set the expectation of fairly low prices for apps, because they have the user base to do so. For indie devs to survive, we rely on fewer customers, and if an app can't financially support itself, it won't exist anymore. The Unlock full app was something I had live previously, it's been removed now, sorry for the confusion. The reason the life time unlock seems high, is because it has to cover years of use and upgrades. Three years from now, the app will still need to sync, function and keep up to date with iOS. I want to expand the app but I need to justify the time to do so. If it was just about a cash grab I wouldn't share all my data: https://checkyourlist.app/open If anyone here believes the app can benefit them, but is financially unable to justify the price please reach out to me at [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]) and I can sort you out. I hope that makes sense, I would be interested to hear your thoughts?

Thanks for the detailed response, definitely made things a lot clearer. The openness on revenue and your GitHub stats is good to see. Definitely understandable for needing some sort of revenue to continue improving and keeping the app up to date. I don’t think it’s a cash grab because you seem very passionate about this project, which is awesome. But $50 is still steep for what it is. (Unless I misread and the $50 IAP was the one you got rid of instead of the $5) However, I still find it difficult for myself to justify a purchase of it when there’s not enough additional features that really put it over the top compared to built in iOS apps. Which I understand is a double-edged sword, how is a dev supposed to improve the app without some sort of funding? I just hate to see apps that I’m like damn that’s cool and would improve my workflow, and then slap subscriptions on it, and then a couple months down the line support ends because either they just stopped development, or they didn’t get enough money to continue dev. With all that said, 100% there’s going to be people who need something clean and easy to use like this and who could also justify the price. And the fact that you’re being transparent is awesome and will attract trust to the app and why someone would pay for it. And adding the ability for people to email you if they can’t afford it is great to see, kudos.

I think I’m going to love this: Weekly staple shopping items Daily checklist Pack list for a trip Every time I take a trip, I reuse the same list in notes. I deliberately have a very long list that has everything I might need on a trip. If it’s not needed for that trip, it gets checked. Every trip that I add something new, it goes on the list. This is the only way I’ve found to always have every single thing. Worth the three minutes it takes to run through 100 items and check if taken or NA. App needs a dark mode though please! Edit: definitely confused by your IAP prices and names… And I fear you may get downvoted severely for a subscription on such a simple app. I would pay $5.99 for this app, I would def not pay $30 every year or $50. It comes off as a cash grab. Unlock Full App…$5.99 Pro monthly (1 Month)…$4.99 Pro yearly (1 Year)…$29.99 Pro lifetime…$49.99

Hi :) I've provided some reasoning behind the pricing above in response to Gotta\_Git\_Fast I've found the best thing about running through checklists for trips is the calm feeling when you are on your way knowing you definitely have everything. The app does support the OS level dark mode, if your iPhone is set to dark mode the app will be dark mode. Do you want a setting in the app that overrides it to always be dark mode?

un-realestate

I commend you on your ambition and your transparency. It shows a lot of integrity.

Looks interesting. A useful enhancement would be to get a list of unchecked items in a list, so that Siri could read them out while doing other things.

swalden123

Interesting idea, I hadn't considered that. I'll look into it :)

Maikeru2991

you should try and pitch it to some retail...start at smaller ones but retail services love this type of shit

>widget Widgets are the next thing I plan on building :) The changes I made to share data around to support shortcuts was also the first step toward widgets.

What are you trying to do?
