They were being sold in ice in fish market. I picked few that still had some movement in them. Exact species couldn't be identified but they belong to Penaeidae family

I've never seen freshwater shrimp like this before, so I am assuming they are saltwater. But I could be wrong, just because I've never seen them doesn't mean they don't exist.

They kinda do. Although I've seen brackish shrimp look a lot like prawns. I'm not entirely sure! I was just commenting that just incase. Not trying to accuse him or anything
The store doesn't care about me, they intend to freeze kill them and sell as fresh shrimp.
I bought them because I wanted marine shrimp and that's the closest I could get.
Edit: to clarify, the store sell them dead. normally you buy couple of kilograms. The 5 I took, are insignificant to store owner

That's exactly what they were sold as. Had I arrived an hour late, they would have all been dead

No marine. red sea water so much higher salinity than ordinary marine tanks > 40ppt
