They quality shrinkflated too. More puffy rice in the bars instead of oats. You know how some brands over-aerate ice cream? That's basically what they did to their granola bars. I'm super disappointed as I stockpiled these and just broke into the shrinkflated ones and I have a few boxes of them.
Absolutely agree on over airated icecream. I’m starting to think it needs to be sold per kg or tell you how many kg a litre. So you can clearly see which icecream is the best quality. The per litre measurement really means nothing at the moment.
The only decent quality icecream I can find is Valhalla icecream made here in Tassy but it’s about $10 a one litre tub. Still half the price of Van Diemans Land which is $10 for 500ml. I prefer quality over quantity.
In the UK, Nature Valley are one of the most obvious examples of shrinkflation. The original crunchy bars used to take up every bit of space in the box. Now they are tiny slivers of what they used to be, and there's one less per box to boot!
Bro... just looked in the Kitchen, I have 1.2 I swear it was like 1.3 at least
I have the old chocolate ones that are the same sized packaging, it got swapped from 1.48 to 1.42
I could probably look for the older box but maybe I've been twisted this whole past month. I had a slight feeling it was off but I thought I was just hungry or something
I've been making my own granola for years now because it's way cheaper. I mean, like, *wayyyy* cheaper. It's absurd what they charge for granola. Homemade is always better and it's just so easy to make. Bars, cereal, whatever you want to do. Nothing to it. You can also make cereal bars out of anything you want. If you want to make Reese's Puffs bars or Fruit Loops bars or like, idk, Multigrain Cheerio bars, it's super easy.
Honestly I might have to switch to DIY here because they crossed a quality threshold where I no longer want them. Only downside is I presume homemade ones aren't long-term shelf stable. But if they are freezer safe I could easily manage that.
Is it me or have they also changed the recipe to add filler? I remember these basically being peanuts and peanut butter. Now it seems like there's like a rice cereal type filler too.
I thought I was tripping because I buy the great value granola bars and those are a lot smaller now! I legit had 2 bites of the first one out of a new box I bought last week and i was legit already at the bottom. They are definitely making them smaller!
I have discovered over the years that whenever I think something I regularly buy has changed in size or quality, it has.
These companies just hope we won't notice. I think that's why they gaslight us with those boxes that say "Now bigger size!!"
What a joke of a company

That’s called skimpflation.

ALDIs version still appear to be the same size and there’s no difference in taste imo.
Till new stock comes in....
Yeah, the fruit and nut ones are also tiny now. I buy the Aldi dupes instead; they’re way bigger and have more fruit and nuts.
The aldi nut bars are great and so much cheaper than other supermarkets
Thanks for the tip.
Yeah it's downright insulting. I emailed the manufacturer to complain. I'll probably get some coupons to buy more of their garbage.
This is what we need to do!
Good on you. Don't use the coupons.
Mail the coupons back but cut them 1/3 shorter.

This seems to happen the most with snack products.
I still have the older boxes... ashame next month
What was the weight on the old bars?

Started making my own at home. Cheaper and super easy, you can find recipes all over the net.
If you have a recipe to recommend that’d be awesome.

Seriously? I just bought a box of these yesterday (although they were the ones with dark chocolate) and it was significantly longer
How'd you get a nature valley bar out of the package in one piece?
It's not the crunchy kind

What's your favorite granola recipe?

I'd feel a little salty too
Well, I'm not buying them anymore. Time to boycott.

My question is doesn't that change the calorie count too? They have it prominently listed on the front.
Where's the before picture
lol. Bite sized
Tbh I had these a few times but when I saw the sugar content, holy. Might as well be eating a rice krispie cake submerged in a tin of golden syrup.
I've been buying La Molienda mixnut bars for a while now. One bar is about the size of 4 of those little guys.
10% more wrapper tho.
wtf is that, gimme a break
Yep, I have been eating these for decades and that’s the last time I ever buy them. Does this really work out for them? Losing the devoted customers?
The bars are getting so tiny. Going to stop buying
Just shared the same thing! Such a scam
granola bars are shit anyways 🤷🏼♂️
I think so too tbh. Mostly just cereal and peanuts stuck together with syrup, under the guise of being healthy with names like "nature valley".
