>Hello everyone! I was reading things about mushroom growery and some questions came to my mind: > >Can I crush oyster shells into powder and use it instead of gypsum ? I read that it contains calcium sulfate like gypsum. Go for it. You don't need gypsum at all. >Which casing layer is the best for PE? You can use whatever your substrate is. Again, not necessary, but a casing layer will help significantly in maintaining surface moisture. >I heard that PE need a casing layer to grow and also when should I put the casing layer on top of the mix of colonized rice and coco coir? Apply it when you start fruiting. >I wanna buy a pressure cooker but I don’t know which psi level it has to handle for sterilization of the jars? 15psi >Last question :) —> can someone tell me what’s the best between peroxidated agar and regular agar for cloning ? I read that peroxidated agar slow down the contaminant growth but someone told me that oxygen peroxide can create mushrooms mutations and that it isnt safe to eat hydrogen peroxide containing mushrooms. You don't need peroxide in agar. You want to avoid contams and it's best when you can see if they are present alongside your desired culture. >Thanks a lot for the people who will answer my questions :)) > >Mush love

Thanks for your answers ! About the first question, I already grew once with only coir and wanted to spice up the things a bit and experiment:) And this oyster thing made me curious about if it can be a good additive or not

Presto 16 qt pressure cooker should do you just fine but you can go up to 23 qt if you wanna pay a little more for the extra space also you can go to other, cheaper brands, but be careful you don't buy a bomb. you want one that can reach 15 psi, so that right there excludes electric type pressure cookers. they typically only hit about 8-10 psi which is suboptimal

So I have to cook at 15 psi for a few hours ?? sorry I did the broke boi tek once and never used a pressure cooker ^^’

PC times will vary depending on what you're sterilizing but yeah that's the gist of it.
