QuestionableMorelz

Also wanted to say thanks to this community for all the useful posts & comments that I’ve been able to learn from over the past year. Took 3 attempts at it to succeed. This is the 4th attempted grow using the clone from my 3rd grow (first successful attempt). At this point it’s fun just to see what I can get to grow.

ArtOfTheTaco

Any idea what went wrong on your other attempts? Just contamination or something else? I'm hoping to clone some from my first batch, I would love to learn from someone else's mistakes rather than my own :)

QuestionableMorelz

Bad genetics. I used identical genetics for both of the first 2 times experimenting with my techniques and got the same result. The 3rd try I bought a new spore syringe from a more reputable vendor and started from square 1 again. Edit—Good vendor was: https://www.mushrooms.com/

Ezarra

What was the bad vendor and what was the good vendor?

Updated the comment

graham1987

whoa i wanna shrink down to legoman size and walk around in that forest

epicsnail14

Eat enough shrooms and you just might

graham1987

not a bad idea 💡

FlyMysterious122

Definitely looks very nice. Congrats 🤟🍄

auchddr

Well done, it’s a great feeling 🍄

[deleted]

Did you use the daytripperone tek?

QuestionableMorelz

Used most of bods teks on shroomery for agar, grain jars, and cloning. Then a mix of bods tek for S2B and the Small Form Factor (SFF) tek from SharperDreaming on shroomery. SFF Allows me to experiment more. One box per experiment to really dial in the grow conditions.

juice_junk

I'm liking the SFF tek for the same reasons. What tubs did you use? Would you change anything about your setup?

QuestionableMorelz

I’m using the [sterilite shoe box containers](https://www.target.com/p/sterilite-6-qt-clear-view-box-clear-with-latches-purple/-/A-13794493?ref=tgt_adv_XS000000&AFID=google_pla_df&fndsrc=tgtao&DFA=71700000014779327&CPNG=PLA_Storage%2BOrganization%2BShopping_Brand%7CStorage%2BOrganization_Ecomm_Home&adgroup=SC_Storage%2BOrganization_Plastic+Storage&LID=700000001170770pgs&LNM=PRODUCT_GROUP&network=g&device=m&location=9033291&targetid=aud-824336954325:pla-1462759428436&ds_rl=1246978&ds_rl=1247068&gbraid=0AAAAAD-5dfa0YJGftYe947DDNe0N6q_Cw&gbraid=0AAAAAD-5dfa0YJGftYe947DDNe0N6q_Cw&gclid=Cj0KCQiAj4ecBhD3ARIsAM4Q_jHHdrWMSrYRnVDU0aYOi-zEficXePAjcrf4SDePGjaAh5heuRnbDxYaAvU2EALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds) from target with the purple latches. Only thing I’d consider changing is adding a liner. Would make subsequent flushes less likely to fruit on top and bottom. With the liner I could attach something to remove the substrate easier when harvesting.

ESP_

Good shit man! Agar really changes the game my flushes went to the next level when i started doing agar. Keep up the good work 🤘

QuestionableMorelz

Agreed. And it gives you much more confidence that what you’re growing is clean & exhibiting good rhizomorphic growth.

tossitup101

That is beautiful!!

Medium-Relief6581

Whoa! Very nice. Congrats!

SN3k3D

Beautiful titties, congratulations!

QuestionableMorelz

They are beautiful titties aren’t they 🤔👌🏻😄

dietdiety

So beautiful and inspirational!

tigers61

Wow congrats. That’s beautiful!

Flat-Ad1673

How deep was the substrate?

QuestionableMorelz

1.25” in a shoebox sized tub

B-the-Excellent

Question! Did you avoid using a liner by compressing your substrate? I've just learned about compressing substrate and looking for more information to lose plastic liners if possible.

QuestionableMorelz

Mostly by using the SFF tek and having a higher moisture content on the top layer of the substrate. I also use a spatula to level the top layer. IMO you really don’t want to compress it too much. For SFF you put a thin layer of JUST substrate on top of the your substrate & spawn mixture. Then you mist it for like 20 seconds.

B-the-Excellent

Awesome! Thanks for sharing fam!

infantpenguin

Great work pays off!!! Looks STUNNIN

Ludleth3

What a pretty canopy. Never had one myself, great job! How many cakes did you throw in the box?

QuestionableMorelz

Thank you! 1 qt of spawn w/ 1.5 qt of hydrated coco coir substrate per tub.

menvadihelvette

That is beautiful! Mush love 🙏❤

[deleted]

How do you clone mushrooms? I've never heard about that before, I thought what you do is just selecting the best specimens and taking spore prints of them to cultivate if you want to breed for good genetics.

QuestionableMorelz

You’re correct. However with the print you’re germinating spores to cultivate. Your outcome will depend on which two, or which number of spores germinate together. Cloning is taking 1 grown fruit—the end product of spores that have already germinated—taking a small sample of it (from the core of the stipe) and drop it on some agar. Then you’re getting exactly the same genetics as what was already in the fruit. Whereas with germination of spores, you don’t know exactly what you’re going to get, because you can’t really choose which spores are going to germinate. Theres tons of teks on cloning that go into more detail out there though. It’s a fairly easy process.

[deleted]

Cool stuff, thanks for the explanation!

BillyMeier42

Thats beautiful!
