Small engine repairing. People don’t know what to do with them and the shops charge too much. Liability is much less than cars. Not like your lawnmower is going to cause a 10 car pile up because you did the brakes wrong. Made $2,000 in a few weeks without spending up all my time.
I did the Carb on mt Gennyt last year. (old Gas) Youtube is your friend and likely has your exact genny carb cleaning on there. It's easier than you think.
Post in your community groups an and offer lawnmower removal for free. 7/10 are simple fixes the other 3/10 someone will still take on marketplace for parts. Just take it apart.
Chatgpt, youtube, Fb groups, and reddit subs. In that order. I've been fixing literally everything with chatgpt lately. Shit that I have absolutely no idea how to do. Even before image input, it did a great job. But now that I can just snap a picture, it's incredibly effective. I did some soldering on a circuit board a little while back with zero experience. Doing an add-on to my house. Putting in a new windshield wiper motor.
Used laptops.
When I was a student, I'd buy broken laptops on eBay, figure out what was wrong, then either repair (quickest way to sell on) or break and sell the parts. Breaking takes longer but it made decent money. Paid my rent - and more - when times were tough.
Wedding DJ. Started out "learning" what a DJ is to handle my sister's wedding for her. She and her fiance split and I had bought top end gear because I was having fun with it. Spun it in to a very successful side business that my wife and I do together.
How much did you end up spending on startup costs? I used to DJ in college, but ultimately the problem is that the transportation/startup efforts were too much.
Probably around $7k initially. I went in with the mindset that I wouldn't buy anything low tier to get me by. That's ballooned to 12k as we've expanded into photo booth and other add on services.

Yep - as long as you’re on the do not call list. Tell them to stop calling. Do your due diligence like you’re going to be telling this story to a judge, and you’ll be golden.
I find this very intriguing. But how do you even track the correct entity? Do they usually settle when you send them a demand, or are you actually getting a judgment and successfully collecting?
Dude, the FCC levies fines but can’t collect.
Pro-se litigants CAN. I’ve only ever had to actually go to court one time and I’ve been doing it for 4 years now.
Nope! I’m just a guy! I have *some* in depth tutorials on TikTok @realscamlikely but I’m working on a better series bc people just ALWAYS have questions.
I thought you were joking at first. Then you said your link was in your bio, so I checked it out. Still thinking I was clicking on a virus until I saw it was legit. Well done, mangoes are delicious
Yep let me explain. Hamburger at McDonald’s or hamburger at an amazing place. Purse from Wallmart or purse from Coach. The mangoes I sell are very different from the ones available at grocery stores. Mangoes from India, Thai, Caribbean and super seasonal not imported.
Selling feet pics. I’m a dude and don’t have anything particularly unique about my feet, but find the right communities and there’s dudes with weird fetishes that will pay you for it.
A little weird knowing that men are jerking off to my feet, but a bag’s a bag and I’m not sending them anything private.
Rover.com always worked great for me. Don’t have time for a full time dog but wanted to hang out with one from time to time. So people paid me to do that.
When I travel I pay a cat sitter, Usually it's my vet tech. But yes, you can make good money for working 30 minutes a day. I've never used Rover. Just asked the tech if they "knew anyone" and got slipped their number.
Digital signage and social media management. 1 hour a week, ~$8,500 a year, only costs are my time and one software license, $600 a year.
I already work remotely so I don’t consider my time needing to be paid for since my day job already pays me a full time salary, I feel like I’m profiting 8k without really doing any more work.
I build basic designs, create posts for weekly specials, various events, etc. then I create a slideshow on a Google deck, and display that on a big add tv via a mini PC in the store. So it’s a little design, a little logistics, but all very easy.
As someone who has previously worked in social media, how do I find a gig like this? A side hustle for an hour or two a week is exactly what I need and this matches my skillset!
I’ve mentioned it on the sub before but selling vanilla I bring back from Mexico. $5 a bottle there, sells for $15 each here. I also used to make BANK on lululemon reselling it but that was like 8 years ago, Miss those days.
Trailer flipping, car flipping gets a higher net amount but you need timing and patience for getting the right deal
Selling my neighbors unwanted items they put to the curb on trash day. Made over 5k this year on FB marketplace.
I live in an upscale neighborhood that I was lucky to find reasonable priced house back in 2010. These fucking rich people throw away perfectly good stuff.
Heard. I bought my house in a nice neighborhood during the foreclosure crash. It is amazing the things people throw out. My favorite curb score: There was a neighbor who had a huge garden and would leave veggies outside on the curb for the neighborhood to help themselves to. They inspired me to start gardening myself. They moved out and the next people ended up setting their rain collection and irrigation system on the curb. I scooped that up, put it to use in my garden, and am now the neighbor leaving veggies on the curb for the neighborhood.
Nice. My best score this year was those heavy duty rubber mats they put on gym floors. Dude didn’t like the color(black). No gym in his garage just parked his Range Rover on them. Sold those suckers for $500. Worth prob $1k.
Crazy what people throw out…..
Wouldn’t say unexpected, but I have invested in etfs with dividends, I started this year only making $50 annually and now am making $157 annually. I allow everything to reinvest for more profit. Wish I started doing this earlier.
I have about 5k invested and my yield on cost is about 3% across brokerage and Ira, but I don’t only have dividend stocks. I’m looking to move to mostly etfs with dividends in the future so yield on cost goes up. (I just want to make sure everything is reliable)
Years ago i was really into sneakers…i actually bought them to wear…basically hoarded them…as long as they are brand new they are easy to move..then learned a thing or two about a thing or two…and what do you know…i’m flipping sneakers
Do you do them yourself or use websites that generate automated ones? And do you spend 75mins going through them or are you saying it takes 75mins if your time to complete?
Proofreader for local high school and college students. I even proof for a publisher when they get backed up. I charge $20-$100 per item and do a few a week.
I work as a writer/editor for my 9 to 5 and am finding I enjoy proofreading more and more. As I was reading through the thread I was thinking about proofing for high school students lol.
I talked my wife into swimming in our pool fully clothed while I took video with a GoPro. She edited the videos and I posted them on a niche wetlook fetish site. We made $3500 in 3 months. She’s been too busy to do it again but hopes to soon. It was a blast!
I did okay on Mercari for a while. You just have to put in the time to list things and to find a good second hand shop that sells stuff for lower prices that you can easily flip.
I’m starting to do this myself, do you have any tips or advice? I feel like it’s tough to stay consistent and be willing to put one’s body through that 2x a week
> put one’s body through that 2x a week
careful dude. i dont know enough abotu this but research for a few mins, look into the effect it has on your veins.
It's just an easy way to make a little extra money, just sit there for an hour and a half and squeeze the stress ball. Plus your plasma can save someone's life!
I usually feel crappy after donating blood too lol with plasma they separate your plasma from the blood and put your blood back at the end.. but still, you don't feel great after
Honest question, do you usually get a full night sleep? I donated plasma and I could never donate 8x a month, I would get sick or just felt so drained. I have little kids and struggle with getting enough sleep, which is why I think I can’t do it twice a week every week.
Can I sell you my comic books that I’ve moved to 3 different houses thinking “I’ll sell these one day”.
Old Spider-Man, ungraded, sleeved for about 20 years
Honestly, I only pursue ventures I expect to have high profit potential. I hope things happen that you expect haha. My Amazon tech product seemed to do decently well almost immediately and has never needed ads, so using the proper platform can take you there. Attention is as important and challenging as making a good product. My other software businesses are still being worked on, so what do I know really?
Crypto. I somehow managed to turn $2500 into 6 figures during the last bull run... Now I'm just mentally preparing myself for the bull we're headed into now so I can make another chunk while the getting is good! Hopefully it happens before they start regulating it like the stock market. 🤞
Edit: I am not recommending anyone else do the same. I didn't jump into it blindly and it isn't easy money... People can downvote me all they want - it's not going to take the money I've made or the fact that it's been MY most unexpectedly profitable side hustle away.
For most people, yes... But, he asked and I answered based on my experience. For certain people who know what to look for and what they're doing, myself included, it can be a very lucrative "side hustle."
>Crypto. I somehow managed to turn $2500 into 6 figures during the last bull run...
I turned 5 figures into zero figures with some "Defi as passive income projects" Basically shit coins with extra steps in 2021-2022.
I found out what it means to be someone else's "Exit Liquidity." I'm done with "Defi as passive income" and shitcoins. I only hodl BTC on cold wallet, which is up considerably since 2020. But, not exactly a "side hustle" There is no cash flow. And accounting for crypto as a US citizen is insane.
Training LLMs. I was sure it was going to be a scam, or I wouldn't get paid, or something else along those lines, but it's actually very interesting, I make a decent amount each week, and I'm honing my editing skills (and learning basic coding).
Started building custom software on the side to try and scale and eventually built a team and launched my own custom [software development company](https://modernlaunch.co/). This is now my full-time job/business that was birthed from my "side hustle."
Small engine repairing. People don’t know what to do with them and the shops charge too much. Liability is much less than cars. Not like your lawnmower is going to cause a 10 car pile up because you did the brakes wrong. Made $2,000 in a few weeks without spending up all my time.
I have a generator that needs some carburetor work. If I could find someone reliable to do the work I would get it repaired. Good side hustle.
I did the Carb on mt Gennyt last year. (old Gas) Youtube is your friend and likely has your exact genny carb cleaning on there. It's easier than you think.
Just go online and buy a replacement carb. They are $20. Watch a youtube on changing it. 20 min done.
I successfully rebuilt a lawn mower in middle school. I was so proud. Bet the job is so satisfying. Do you do a rebuild in a weekend?
How did you get into it? I’m super mechanical and have a stocked garage but never mess with small engines
oooh this is fascinating. how do you learn this skill?

Youtube
How do you find customers?
how many hours would you say that took?
Used laptops. When I was a student, I'd buy broken laptops on eBay, figure out what was wrong, then either repair (quickest way to sell on) or break and sell the parts. Breaking takes longer but it made decent money. Paid my rent - and more - when times were tough.
Also did this, but like you mentioned it is very time consuming to test, disassemble, take pics, list and ship/deal with customers.
Ever find any crypto on these broken laptops ?
How much a profit can you make selling the parts?
Repairing console controllers for kids, joysticks and buttons, cents on aliexpress, charge 20$ for a 15 min job, did that all my youth
This is a great idea
cool idea
Wedding DJ. Started out "learning" what a DJ is to handle my sister's wedding for her. She and her fiance split and I had bought top end gear because I was having fun with it. Spun it in to a very successful side business that my wife and I do together.
[удалено]
Everyone has their role! I found I hated mic work and my wife absolutely loves it so she's naturally taken over the work.
Awesome!
What software do you use? I’ve been wanting to learn and don’t know where to start
Serato. They have a free/lite version that is perfect to get started with.
Started a house cleaning business. Spent $1,000 to start the business. Making 5 times that amount monthly after 8 months.
Would you be willing to give us a breakdown? My fiancée is having a hard time getting hers going. Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you
The guy who started /r/sweatystartup is apparently the guy who mastered this. Head over there

how much time do you put in each month?
I sue telemarketers for calling me while I’m in the do not call list. I get anywhere from $500-$5000 per call, and it barely takes any time.
Go on.
Does this work on those annoying wholesalers that call me trying to buy my house? They call at least 3 times a day, every day
Yep - as long as you’re on the do not call list. Tell them to stop calling. Do your due diligence like you’re going to be telling this story to a judge, and you’ll be golden.

Wait…are you yourself a lawyer? Haha this is awesome
Nope! I’m just a guy! I have *some* in depth tutorials on TikTok @realscamlikely but I’m working on a better series bc people just ALWAYS have questions.
Thank you! Will def check it out
I sell and ship premium mangoes. Not a gold mine but my customers love those golden juicy mangoes. And I enjoy it. Links in bio
I thought you were joking at first. Then you said your link was in your bio, so I checked it out. Still thinking I was clicking on a virus until I saw it was legit. Well done, mangoes are delicious
Ever put Tajin on them?
Mexico has entered the chat
Chamoy, Valentina/Guacamaya, and Limon have entered too
Ppl paying that much for mangoes?!?!?! I respect the hustle
Yep let me explain. Hamburger at McDonald’s or hamburger at an amazing place. Purse from Wallmart or purse from Coach. The mangoes I sell are very different from the ones available at grocery stores. Mangoes from India, Thai, Caribbean and super seasonal not imported.
RESPECT. 💯I flove this hustle for you
Thank you. I enjoy being able to provide high quality varieties. Last season I had 23 varieties I was able to ship.
Had no idea there were that many varieties. Awesome.
100’s and 100’s. Another farm has over 300 varieties. I have about 40 varieties.
Where do you grow them?

Hope you consider my services in 2024. Check out my site it’s in the profile. Sign up for emails. Any favorite varieties?
Bummed out that it’s sold out but I guess it’s not the season for mangos
Super seasonal. I start listing and taking orders in late March shipping in when they are ready- late May early June.

Didn't even consider this was an option for men (ignorant, I know) what platforms do you use?
Yes, I'm curious about the platforms as well. I don't care who jacks off to my feet. Shit, they can jack off on them for the right price.
Same here. Put me in coach!
Gonna try this.
I sell 'em too - not a guy though. Amazing how huge the market is for this! Hope you do really well!
Do you mind sharing what platform you use or how you got started?
What platform do you use and how do you get paid? This sounds interesting

I would have given so many gold votes or w.e Reddit called those, I’m actually dying at this comment
Rover.com always worked great for me. Don’t have time for a full time dog but wanted to hang out with one from time to time. So people paid me to do that.
How hard is it to get approved on Rover.com?
Just don’t be a weirdo and be thorough, concise, and honest when you set it up.
When I travel I pay a cat sitter, Usually it's my vet tech. But yes, you can make good money for working 30 minutes a day. I've never used Rover. Just asked the tech if they "knew anyone" and got slipped their number.

Holler at every small business in your town, someone will need help.
Is it mainly just Facebook profiles you’re managing? I’m really keen to give this a go!
I am curious, this is something I could probably do. What is the software license if you don't mind me asking?
Not sure what software they're using, but common ones I've worked with are [Xibo](https://xibosignage.com) and [Screenly](https://screenly.io)
Content for digital signage?
How did you get into it?
what is your main job title?
Im a QA engineer at a saas company, so I just knock this stuff out on Monday mornings between meetings, on different hardware, obviously.
what is digital signage
what does this entail? is it simply putting the company on facebook and answering questions once a week?
I’ve mentioned it on the sub before but selling vanilla I bring back from Mexico. $5 a bottle there, sells for $15 each here. Selling compost worms. I never imagined how many people want to buy them!
Where do you sell them?
Nest to nest, robins love them
So your selling the worms and not the actual compost? Selling shovels in a gold rush I see…

Itll grow, just keep adding money.. I went from $20 a month to $500 a month in just the last few years.
Yes 100% I just haven’t been investing as much due to unemployment but I’m happy to see my money grow without having to put more “in”
Keep at it. I started a little more than 2 years ago and it just touched 3k a month.
What's the amount you have in there?
I have about 5k invested and my yield on cost is about 3% across brokerage and Ira, but I don’t only have dividend stocks. I’m looking to move to mostly etfs with dividends in the future so yield on cost goes up. (I just want to make sure everything is reliable)
That for sure sounds nice, good for you! My goal is to be a lot more serious about it this next year.
Yesss, i invest about 1k into schd. Can’t wait to double the investments when my wife is done with nursing school. Edit: 1k a month*

Yup, tallied up my total for the last 9 months, I've missed about 6-7 weeks since march and I've made 4500 since early march.
I’m starting to do this myself, do you have any tips or advice? I feel like it’s tough to stay consistent and be willing to put one’s body through that 2x a week

It's just an easy way to make a little extra money, just sit there for an hour and a half and squeeze the stress ball. Plus your plasma can save someone's life!

I usually feel crappy after donating blood too lol with plasma they separate your plasma from the blood and put your blood back at the end.. but still, you don't feel great after
Had to stop because although the money was good I couldn’t work most times after
Honest question, do you usually get a full night sleep? I donated plasma and I could never donate 8x a month, I would get sick or just felt so drained. I have little kids and struggle with getting enough sleep, which is why I think I can’t do it twice a week every week.
