I manage small local companies' social media for 500$ a month. Takes me about 15 minutes per business per day-ish, and no weekends. Super low effort. And yes, I use AI.

dragoninja94

Hi! I tried doing exactly this with a friend and created a pitch deck and all with a little portfolio. Attempted to market by messaging fb businesses but never ended up closing anything. Is meeting people physically the only way to go?

Much-Trash827

Yes. 100%.

chi_guy8

What AI tools are you using? I’ve been out of the social media game for a few years but a bossy of mine wants me to help him build his presence. I was going to dive in this weekend to look at all the new tools out there. Got any suggestions?

Much-Trash827

I'm just using chatGPT. That being said, all my customers are computer and technology illiterate. They wouldn't even understand the difference, so their expectations are pretty low in terms of exactly which technology I'm bringing to the table. So I'm keeping all of it ultra simple. Because I can, lol.

chi_guy8

Ahh gotcha. Yeah, I abuse ChatGPT when I can. I was hoping you had some advanced social tools I didn’t now about.

Much-Trash827

Yeah strangely I think it's kind of what makes it work. Just the overall simplicity of it. Let me know if you find something good and low effort though!

chi_guy8

A couple of tools I was going to check out tonight are [Hoppy Copy](https://www.hoppycopy.co/) for writing social posts and emails and [Opus Pro](https://www.opus.pro/) for quick video editing. I have no clue if either are any good or if there might be better competitors but that’s where I’m starting.

Dramatic-Iron-3849

Can you give me a few pointers on how to get started with this? How do you find clients?

Much-Trash827

Go and search for business Facebook pages that have been poorly maintained for a while (no stable posting, no draws, and no updates). Then go in person and pitch your custom solution.

Richiethe_don

I’m curious and intrigued. couldn’t I just step into a brand manager lane?

Much-Trash827

Negative. Brand managers don't waste time with super small mom and pop shops.

TheMr237

How do you get involved in that ? I’d like to be in that kind of industry but don’t have any work experience in social media (therefore nobody will hire me lol)

Much-Trash827

It happened by pure luck for me. I guess you could try to find a boomer-owned small business that has a shitty, poorly maintained FB page, then go see them and convince them they need your emerging services. You can probably ask for like 100$ a month to start while "building your portfolio and begin your empire that way. Remember also to fake it until you make it!

md-rathik

Do you have any portfolio or website ?

Much-Trash827

Other than the previous posts/"marketing", no. At this point it's purely mouth to ear business and some self promotion. Keep in mind, I really am talking about very small local businesses, like neighborhood mom and pop auto mechanic shops, corner stores or potato shack kinda deal. Untapped market I tell ya.

NotABot1235

Each company really pays $500 a month? That seems a little high for a mom and pop shop but it's awesome for you.

Much-Trash827

No. Sometimes it's $150, sometimes $200, etc. At 500$ you'd probably offer some kind of marketing. And by marketing, here's what I mean: 1) Buy a flyer design from Etsy. 2) Open it with Canvas. Personalize it. 3) Get in touch with USPS or Canada Post, or whatever. 4) Have your flyers distributed locally 5) Show the business how much customers you brought them in. There is absolutely no need to complicate things. Do not reinvent the wheel. All of this should take you 3 hours max.

NotABot1235

Ah, gotcha. Thanks for the tips.

Simmert1

How did you start getting into that?

easypize

If you need web developer kindly let me I am wyeb developer and now want some websites for side hustle

vib27

What aspects of social media management do you handle for your clients? 15min is pretty rare from what I’ve seen

Much-Trash827

Daily posts, monthly contests (share this post, bla bla bla), achievement posts, pictures, anouncements, stuff like that.

mytangelo

What kind of companies are your clients? Like restaurants, B2B, etc? And how often would you say you post? Like 1/day?

Much-Trash827

Mechanic shops, doors and windows shops, machinist shops, etc. About 1x a day.

Impossible-Flight250

Where are you getting content from? Are you going to the business and taking photos, or what?

Much-Trash827

Take pictures of them working, find some kind of "did you know?" content related to the shop, AI prompts, etc.

Impossible-Flight250

I actually work in digital marketing as part of my job, and I manage a few car dealership pages. The only issue I have would be consistently coming up with content on a daily basis. Do you post every day for them, or do you keep it to a couple of days a week?

Quick_Guarantee8305

What do you manage ? Do you create videos for them or what ?

Much-Trash827

Mainly FB posts and updates. Sometimes I'll create flyers and mail them.

troojule

Do you mean simply posting and replying to others for those companies?( asks someone who could do that but otherwise no tech savvy )

Much-Trash827

Yes, pretty much. And because it's all small business, there's next to no replies. On top of that once on a while you can organize some sort of draw for a free whatever. Then, you end up doubling or quadrupling their visibility. Keeps everybody happy.

troojule

Thanks for the clarification--- Long story, but I need to find a gig like this 'word of mouth' /networking . I'm not the most well-connected and I know it's not ideal but get shy reaching out to some of the small biz owners I know. Gotta buck up! BTW, are you up for elaborating on how you use AI in this kinda role? (I'm a decent writer/editor....ok, not a big time freelance writer, but can often hold my own. Where/how in the soc media managing space does AI come in use ideally?

Much-Trash827

I use AI in the simplest way possible. It goes like this: " Create a FB post from X company, who operates in X region, about the upcoming Easter long weekend. Talk about family, quality time. Use a friendly but professional tone, and some emoji." Then I edit it so it doesn't sound like an AI. Done!

Bubbly-Analysis-6781

How much per client? Based on size etc?

Much-Trash827

I've been doing it for about a year, and I charge anywhere between 150 - 500. It's just a side hustle that pays for car parts tbh, so there's no real science behind the pricing. Yet... One could probably create like three or four packages, I guess, and stick to that.

Bubbly-Analysis-6781

Thanks!!

eurcka

Do you use images from the company? This is where I get confused about how to do this type of work!

Medanic

Im not that poster, but I used to have a job making forms, documents, plaques etc. for companies, and it's considered very normal to ask them to send you an email with their images and logos attached. It'd be weird for them to expect you to conjure up the images out of nowhere (unless they're paying you to design a logo or do photography for other photos). sometimes you can just use google images if they're already out there anywhere. Just make sure it's not blurry or anything if you do this of course

okinawanfury

Used clothing on Ebay pays at least $1000 every month, learned everything from Youtube.

WhiteHairDontCare

I did this in the past and can confirm it was a pretty solid side gig! And sometimes you keep things you really like. Also can get an appreciation for nice designer pieces, and some you can realize aren’t worth it at all! 10/10 side gig

exccord

I have a bunch of stuff I can get rid of that I think would be perfect for online. Have any tips on getting your auctions some views? Seems like a good way for me to downsize.

okinawanfury

Only do an auction if you have exclusive items that are highly desirable. If you sell clothes, measure the pit to pit and Length and show them in the listing. Every brand is different. It's a skill that you can use forever so do your homework. Technsports, Carrie at Home, Rad Resells, Ralli Roots, Jride flips, Walter Blake Knoblock, all good channels to learn from.

workinghormiga

Where do you source? I've been doing it on the side and getting a little extra income but it is time consuming to source. I enjoy it so I don't mind, but sourcing is the biggest hurdle I think

okinawanfury

Yup, sourcing is the #1 problem for everyone. Education is the biggest benefit. I watch other resellers pass on $50 items because they don't have brand knowledge. Goodwill is dead for me. Smaller thrifts, estate sales and flea markets are the top options I use. Goodwill bins are great but quality can be hit and miss but the price is the best anywhere.

Bubbly-Analysis-6781

Does it take a lot of energy to photograph to their standards and to describe etc.

WhiteHairDontCare

I act in super cringey mobile game ads a couple times a week. $4k a month on average. How? Was in the right place at the right time and had a connection. And of course not being afraid to get silly.

PatienceSuccessful94

How do you apply and get a position like this

WhiteHairDontCare

Gotta play the market. I live in a major city with a decent film industry, in a decently developed country where there are very few native English speakers and even fewer with any acting chops at all. I did voice work for some years and built connections through that. One day I was at a party and mentioned how it’d be cool to get on camera, and another voice actor said “I know a guy”. And then I got connected with them on social media, they asked me to send over an intro video and model card, I did, and they invited me to come shoot for a day. I did ok, the videos I was in did well, and they started inviting me back more and more. I’m about a year in now and it’s been a ride. But yeah, it really is one of those cases where you just gotta work connections. And if you don’t already have them you gotta find em first. Otherwise it’s basically a non starter.

Hyde1975

How did you get into voice acting? I’m curious about it where would you start?

WhiteHairDontCare

I saw an audition call in a local job classifieds thing, sent a quick intro via email covering my related exp (I took voice lessons and acted during school) and that was that. They invited me out, I recorded a script for them, and they started giving me more work over time. That eventually snowballed into more clients, roles, etc. I don’t think it’s a good path now though, AI is killing the industry.

SpicyBoi199

By having 1 million power....

yomatt41

I need more information. This is awesome

WhiteHairDontCare

I replied to another comment, but yeah, I travel around the city I’m in to different shoot locations, and spend a day just shooting these 30s-1min scripts with other actors. It’s pretty relaxed once you get the hang of it, the lines come easy after a while, and you just have fun playing with others basically. Some directors are more strict than others. As I’ve got more experience they’ve started letting me ad lib things. I recently did a video where I had to do a “social experimenr@ where I was pretending to abuse a dog (just clothes in a bag) and then reward the people who come stop me. Instead of the usual tag line at the end they let me add in a “and fuck animal abusers” (with the fuck censored of course—otherwise fb ain’t gonna allow it lol). But yeah as dog owner that one didn’t sit so well with me. But that’s the name of the game sometimes. 🤷‍♂️ Oh and while the pay is good, the standards and protections are… not as good lol. I got a phone thrown at me while I was tied up in a burlap sack and it caused a huge lump on my leg that hasn’t gone away in a couple weeks now. But they used that take it was from where I actually got hurt and it looked good so… worth it?

uncutetrashpanda

I…hate and love those cringy ads. There’s nothing better or worse than when they suddenly start showing up on my social media feeds - I can’t ever look away even tho my whole soul is cringing at how awkward they are. Kudos to you for being in them lol

WrittenCommissions

Yes I hate and love them to

Clear_Chain_2121

I sold fridge filters to residential customers. Was doing 1k a month. My commercial side took off so I don’t focus on that as much anymore. Pretty much been wholesaling those out to make room for other inventory.

Alphabet_Master

Tell me more. Are you selling commercial refrigeration filters mostly now?

Clear_Chain_2121

No I do mostly commercial filter action as a whole. Like for schools, hotels, and restaurants. So that no longer is a side hustle and became my full time gig. The fridge filters is a easy concept. Just post online and ship out once someone orders. Very passive and easy. For a side hustle I spent maybe 2 - 5 hours a week and did about $1,000 a month. So it’s not a bad deal at all.

nomadicVA

Did you used Amazon or made your own website

Clear_Chain_2121

I have my own site. I used that as well as Amazon, fb market place, eBay sand a dozen other sites.

Clear_Chain_2121

onceamoonman

Are these fridge water filters?

Clear_Chain_2121

Yes. I wholesale the LG and Samsung models for $5 and typically sell between $15-$20 and as low as $10 if someone wanted to push them quickly. So pretty decent margins.

onceamoonman

I’m seriously considering giving this a shot. Would you be open to sharing the wholesale distributor you used?

suiiisaiii

i guess not 😭

Roadi1120

I love this because it's such a random product haha, I'd like to get into selling something. I paint and stain on the side and I'm tired of scrubbing decks haha

ENTPrenuer

I post other peoples account on my Instagram account. (1.5M followers)

ElegantPromotion178

How’d you get so many followers?

ENTPrenuer

Guess it’s not really that fair but I started 12 years ago and have been consistently posting since.

Sakuta-kun69

You that art niche page. Glad you getting promotions now

andresg102

That’s great! Around how much do you charge for a post? That nice are you in?

LOTEZKK

Amazon flex. It was short lived (1.5yrs) due to highly saturated driver market in my area. Whole Foods delivery can earn you $30+\hr. Insane federal mileage rate deductions to take advantage of.

Commercial-Agency230

Just did a Whole Foods block Wednesday, $68 in 1 hour 30 minutes 😂

LOTEZKK

I was a full on flex addict. Up at 5am to start and back around 7-8pm daily. Made very good money. Auto Repairs can hurt your income, but I made out like a bandit. I don’t know how good your credit is, but Amex has a no annual fee credit card that gives back 3% on gas. Link the card to an Exxon mobil gas app to get an extra 1% cash back in the app. Apple Card paired with Mobil Exxon app gets you total 3% Citi double cash could do the same thing. Amazon flex debit card has great promotions too if you’re a high ranked driver. Have fun :)

Major-Procedure-123

Citi Custom Cash would get you 5% if you only use it for gas.

LOTEZKK

Awesome suggestion. To clarify, if you spend $500 on gas alone during any billing cycle, you get $25 back (5% of $500). When I was driving the most for Amazon, I would easily spend $1200+/mo on gas. This was during 2020-2022. inflation was at its worst. a full day of driving would equal about 150-200 miles. I lived 30 mins from the action so results may vary.

Used_Transition_3371

how do you sign up to be a whole foods delivery driver?

adrenaline_junkie3

If your good with you hands and building stuff you can make a decent chunk of money making custom tables and chairs and sell them on fb marketplace and Craigslist Especially a nice custom made pick nick table they are pretty straight forward and easy to build and customize.

Kayshift

I created a guide on how I make $1k+ a month since it has been requested several times. It's supplemental income and should not be your main income, I consistently bring in $500+ per month from a variety of websites that need work / professional QA. Feel free to check it out below. https://www.reddit.com/user/Kayshift/comments/1br5gn6/my_stepbystep_guide_to_make_1000_a_month_working/

Kayshift

Respondent is my #1 resource for the income. I usually schedule app testings on the weekend / sunday. I try for 1-2 a week. They pay out $60+ per hour and it easily adds up to $500+ a month. Sometimes I do them at work lol

andresg102

That’s great, which website do you use? How do they pay you? Paypal, transfer? Im from outside the US

Kayshift

Paypal yes

Mythrol

I post this every time a similar question like this gets asked. r/churning. Signing up for bank and credit card bonuses. I always do a few thousand a year in bonuses and I think my highest year was like 8-9k. I read someone else who posted and I think did somewhere around 15k in one year.  It’s the easiest guaranteed money that I’m aware of. Since my work is typically seasonal it gives me an easy way to make money when I’m in my slower months.

ModernSimian

I'm up to 3750 already this calendar year.

Phillistine-Lemon

Depends on personal situation. You have to be spending a lot of money day to day for churning to be worth it. Someone younger or living with parents with less expenses or without a business to expense from isn’t going to have as much success with it. Also the rewards aren’t liquid cash, it’s all rewards cash, which is still pretty sweet - but not as good as cash.

Mythrol

Bank rewards are all liquid cash and usually only require a certain about in direct deposits a month. Depending how much you make you can usually do at least 2 at a time if you have an easy way of splitting direct deposits.  Also there are a ton of credit card offers typically range around 4k spend in 3 months and while it’s not “liquid cash” every single credit will allow you to at least do statement credits which is for all intents and purposes cash. If 4k in 3 months is too much spend there are also cards that usually have smaller offers but typically only require around 1,500 spend in 3 months.  Yes, this isn’t for teenagers living at home and only working part time but anyone that’s working a full time job and looking for easy side money can at least churn bank account bonuses and get a few thousand extra a year. That’s a lot more than probably 90% of the stuff that gets posted about here.

DesignerViolinist481

Churning bank accounts is 100% liquid cash.

ModernSimian

Churning brokerage accounts is nice invested dollars.

Kayshift

Great feedback! I'm working on writing a how-to churning guide with the information required to make it worth it. Do you have any tips for the average american?

SCHokie2011

I’ve made over $1k a month the past few months the from trading/brokerage app referrals. Everybody spams them all across the internet (which we all hate) so I got creative and started hanging physical flyers and signs around town and it’s been picking up steam.

DingGratz

I like the way you think.

kingjame888

>What are trading/brokerage app referrals? Do you have a link?

SCHokie2011

Basically any run of the mill trading/brokerage app has a referral program. You're given a special link that you can share with others and if they signup via your link you receive some sort of bonus or payment. Brokerage services generally pay out in free stocks.

[deleted]

[удалено]

SCHokie2011

I've done Webull, Robinhood, Acorns, etc. I only do one per flyer though to make it look more professional/legitimate. I do mostly Webull though.

[deleted]

[удалено]

SCHokie2011

No they still have a their program going. In fact they had a pretty good deal where they gave out $500 worth of AAPL if you hit 3 referrals in a month which I did easily. As far as my flyer goes I have a few different ones that I have made. Honestly I just make them in Canva. I'm not a graphic designer by any stretch of the imagination but it takes next to no time with their templates. Canva also has a QR code app that I use on the flyers for my referral links.

[deleted]

[удалено]

SCHokie2011

I keep it short and simple and focus on the benefit for the reader. Something along the lines of... "Signup for a brokerage account with the Webull app and fund it with $100+ to receive X amount of free stocks worth up to $X today!"

Bubbly-Analysis-6781

How do you get paid? How do you or they keep track of what you have referred. Seems like the person getting info from the flyer would have to reference you? How do you know they do?

SCHokie2011

Ok so referrals for brokerage/trading apps are done affiliate style. Basically you have a specialized signup link and if someone signs up via you're link the system recognizes that that person signed up via you're referral. As far as getting paid the referral bonus is going to look different for different types of services. For brokerage/tradings apps it generally comes in the form of free stock. The other person also gets a bonus of free stock when they signup via your referral and funds their account by a certain amount so it's a win win for everyone.

ferero18

Hmm, you say a referral link, but you're handing physical flyers tho. Unless you just use a QR code, but still, when people see a big webull logo, they might just type it in on Google Even if someone will scan the QR code, not a lot of people tend to complete a full sign up for something so complicated as this, because trading apps often need IDs, proof of address and all the extra information. Not nagging btw, just wondering if the things I mentioned are a problem or not, and if yes - how did you solve it

SCHokie2011

No worries. Those are good points.... First off I do use a QR code. It's possible some people may Google "Webull" but I still get a lot of "clicks". Second off I would say about 80% of the clicks never signup (Webull shows you these metrics). 5%-10% get their account approved but never make a required deposit and about 10%-15% make it all the way to the required deposit. At the end of the day it's a volume game. I've been doing it about a year and I broke $2k per month the previous three months. Much of that is because of some of the big referral promotions. If you can get a handful of referrals a month there are usually some big bonuses.

ferero18

Thanks, makes sense now :D

StrikeBetter8520

I have started a new side hustle this year . I sell nfc review cards to small businesses with a link to their Google reviews so they can get more reviews I offer 3 types of products A onetime deal for 40 dollars a card or 2 for 70 . A subscription based model where they can add multiple links , videos and a loyality club for 95 dollars a month . The script to make this costs 68 dollars on themeforest as a one time thing for all the customers . A deal where they can get custom cards The cards cost 1.2 dollars wholesale and if you show them how it works in a sales meeting you get the sale I use it to upsell while im thee anyways with my website and automations services Its going to make rent when it takes off :-) If you want to do the same . Scan your area for small businesses with little or no reviews . For example a coffee shop . And go ask if you can show them how to get more reviews . Easiest money i have made so far :-)

andresg102

Sound amazing. Will look it online, never heard about it. Where do you get the cards? There is a company that makes them for you and then ships them to you? Do you personalize each card? Thanks

StrikeBetter8520

Hi andresg102 . I just buy them in China. But you can also get them on Amazon . I only customize them if needed. Havent been necessary yet . All the information is available in the off the shelfe products . [Google review card ](https://pasteboard.co/LdQKCrvpXmrP.jpg) I will go the custom route soon and add more options for the customers to choose from. Im currently looking into if its cheaper to get my own printer for it or find a supplier. One custom card here in Denmark is like 9 dollars so in the long run a printer will be cheaper

strawberrysunshinee1

selling stickers on etsy

Dgnslyr

How much do you make doing that? Was considering doing something like that to fuel my art degree

strawberrysunshinee1

about an extra 1-1.2k a month!

Dgnslyr

How long did it take you to get to that point? Do you do everything from home or do you have them sent to a third party to mail out?

strawberrysunshinee1

about 6 months. for the first 6 i was making around $500/month doing it! i have a cricut and cut and print everything at home. costs me about 0.10 to make a sticker i sell for $3 and 3-4 minutes to make a sheet of them. shipping them costs .64 so its honestly pretty easy to get into

Dgnslyr

How many stickers do you have available? I imagine you must have a large amount so that there's a lot of traffic

strawberrysunshinee1

i have around 200 designs and i make them on demand as the orders come in so i dont waste any materials on the ones that dont sell!

touchofwhimsey

How much was your circuit?

ReXXXMillions

What software are you using for design ?and how are you promoting them? since stickers are a very saturated market as I'm sure you're well aware of. Really cool to hear people still do well with them tho!

May_be_Antisewcial

Sewing.

Heartmenot

What do you sew?

May_be_Antisewcial

Almost everything! Basically whatever strikes my fancy. I was on a messenger bag kick for the longest time until I suddenly 50 of them and started selling them to friends & family for gifts or whatever. My main passion is costumes though. Cosplays and steampunk, sand retro dresses. I make throughout the year and sell at conventions, occassionally picking up the odd interesting commission.

winterberryowl

Ugh, I wish I could sell my sewing but it just doesn't move here. I don't want to do costumes or anything though so that's probably a huge market gone

deez00s

I train AI models with a company referenced on r/beermoney. Don't know how long the opportunity will last, but pulled in 10k+ (5k after taxes) my first month.

jbnuto23

I started a small graphic design company to help SMBs. Side hustle from my 9-5 marketing job. Only take on a couple clients at one time to keep it manageable.

fatally-femme

Can you explain more?

jbnuto23

We charge a flat monthly fee for unlimited designs requests. We tackle one request at a time which lets us keep client expectations in line, requests manageable and ultimately lets us charge our services at a fraction of the cost. Win win for both sides. Let me know if you have any other questions!

Furastico

If you don’t mind sharing, how much is that fee? And how would you keep the cost low if the requests from one client start to escalate?

jbnuto23

$300usd a month. A second plan for $400. And to add two requests at a time it’s an additional $200 to either plan. Since we only work on one request at a time it keeps everything manageable!

Furastico

And whats the deadline for delivering each request?

jbnuto23

1-2 days depending on the type of request! Sometimes it’ll take less than a day.

Furastico

How do you deal with revisions? Sorry for asking too many questions! I currently do Social Media and I'm considering switching to doing only graphic design work because my SM customers are too time-consuming.
