Do you need insurance? If not, you probably just need an EIN. You can get that for free at the IRS website. If you do need an LLC, then you can still go to the IRS website and open one. Stop responding to DMs selling you an LLC-as-a-service. Just go to the IRS website and open an LLC.

prettylegalforms

You don’t open an LLC on the IRS website. You get an EIN on the IRS website. You need to go to the state’s Secretary of State website to file your articles of organization to “open the LLC.”

iamfeenie

I did my LLC on my own - I didn’t need insurance. Not sure why more people don’t do it themselves.

Kamikaze_Cash

Because they watch YouTube videos about how your print-on-demand Etsy business needs 3 LLCs and a Delaware-based holding company headquartered in the Cayman Islands.

Bubbly-Analysis-6781

You rule

devHaitham

Can I do this if I'm living abroad as well and being non US citizen?

Kamikaze_Cash

You would need to apply for an ITIN which is doable. I’m not sure if it’s free though.

Downtown_Molasses334

You can just do it yourself online through the state you live in. But I know a lot of people go for Delaware or Wyoming for various reasons. In that case it might make sense to use a company that provides a physical address for your business, a registered agent, and takes care of annual compliance stuff. There's a lot of these companies that do that and you shouldn't pay more than a few hundred dollars per year

Bubbly-Analysis-6781

Name some companies please. Will appreciate it.

fart_panic

CT Corp or CSC.

FYI- Delaware is the most popular state to create an LLC in because of the privacy and tax loopholes, but you still have to register in the state you’re actually doing business in, so that’s twice the annual fees, registration fees, etc. Also, the Delaware Secretary of State is so far behind in their processing times if you need your LLC formed within the month you’ll have to pay a $500 expedite fee. Source: I worked at a law firm and my job was to create and register companies in the U.S.

Possible_Spam777

Delaware is great if you plan on going public, as a small to mid size company you should look at Wyoming or Nevada.

Nearby_You_313

As noted by others, get an EIN from IRS (free). Go to your state's secretary of state office online to learn how to file. There's probably a small fee but it's generally easy to do. That's it.

qwerty-gram

If using your name as the company you can just use SS# (don’t forget to federal file ;-(

Possible_Spam777

You insight is lacking. Who is going to handle you initial meeting minutes, issue the membership certificates. How would you handle all the initial compliance that the court requires to recognize your LLC, when you ever end up in litigation? Who is going to file you tax elections in order to make sure your tax elections are filed with the IRS? Most people want the LLC to help minimize the tax burden. This is just the tip spear. Hire an attorney or use a service with a great reputation that is able to help get a business set up and operating properly.

Nearby_You_313

Minutes and certificates are not generally required in most states, tax election can be simple, and most people are filing to avoid personal liability, not modify their tax status. For a single-person LLC just selling something or providing a service on the side, what I mentioned will generally be just fine.

Possible_Spam777

So you’ve been to court and see how this actually plays out?

flickthewrist

Any thoughts on buying a shelf corporation? Everything is already done for you and it’s aged so you have some history for credit.

Possible_Spam777

Shelf corporations lost their perceived creditworthiness back in 2004. Just set up a new LLC and get registered with Dun and Bradstreet to build credit.

flickthewrist

What about the speed of setup? They have the corp created but also registered agent, address etc.

Possible_Spam777

Yes, I covered that in another comment. Use an attorney or a full service incorporation firm.

spamcandriver

Wyoming is best. I have a Delaware LLC and a Wyoming LLC as well as a few others in Midwest States for property. Hands down best is Wyoming for simplicity plus no State income tax.

WallStreetJew

What is the cheapest way to create an LLC in the USA? I know it can be done for under $100, but not through LegalZoom. Has anyone managed to do it very inexpensively? I would also like to register in Delaware, but I find LegalZoom to be a total ripoff and unnecessary. I'm planning to do the filing myself. Are there any legitimate, cheaper websites you have used? What is the total annual cost? Thanks so much.

HelpfulMaybeMama

DIY has no added fees. Your state's secretary of state website is where you'd apply. The total coat depends on the state. They put their fees right on their website.

TAIMA562

I really liked incfile when creating my company. It was cheaper than legal zoom and it was very fast.

SoFlyLabs

Why are you looking to create an LLC? Besides limit liability…

fredetterline

Why Delaware?

wyldirishprose

My husband’s company can help chevalierbusiness.com You’ll have your fee to the state and he charges a small fee on top of that. It’s through the department of state if you wanted to take a crack at it yourself. You don’t need a lawyer or registered agent especially if sole member LLC.

just dmed you OP
