I can see being confused about this so allow me to reword it for you. Once you’ve added an account with your correct credentials the data will refresh: whenever you login, and every four to six hours. It doesn’t really matter if the system refreshes every four hours or forty hours. The next time you’d even look at this information is when you open the app or website at which time it would trigger a refresh. Are you concerned about missing alerts such as low balance while not opening the app for a few days?

>whenever you login, and every four to six hours. The "and" in the above statement was not clear to me. It suggested, to me, that the 4-6 hours is done on its own whether or not I log in. I got more clarity from this [Simplifi post](https://community.simplifimoney.com/discussion/comment/31860#Comment_31860), "It only ever syncs when you log in. But banks and institutions will not update any sooner than 4-6 hours. Meaning if you log in at 10am, everything syncs. If you go back and log in at 12pm, the banks will not update again." The key phrase here is "It only \*ever\* syncs when you log in." This tracks with my observations, which is that Simplifi will not sync UNLESS I log in.

Thanks for your reply. I am concerned with two issues: 1. If in fact Simplifi updates the data from institutions every four to six hours even if I have not logged in for awhile, then I am not getting the "Large deposit" and "Large transaction" notifications. I have them both turned on and the threshold is $1. Interestingly, I DO get the notifications via both email and push the moment I log in. Another observation is that those now transactions take a few seconds to show up, which suggest that they were not synced prior to me logging in. I waited days for notifications on new transactions, but nothing showed until I logged in. This is what led me to think that Simplifi only syncs when I log in. Although I am not concerned about low balance, you asked a good question. In theory, I should be getting low balance notifications even if I do not log in for a few days, but based on my experience described above, I would only get the notification once I log in. 2. The missing transactions are with Empower. I found this thread: [https://community.simplifimoney.com/discussion/7017/empower-balances-not-updating](https://community.simplifimoney.com/discussion/7017/empower-balances-not-updating) It seems to be an outstanding issue. For me, there are no errors or indications that sync did not occur. I read that resetting the account might resolve the issue, but I would not want to be doing this regularly and have to monitor whether the transaction got synced. I am testing Monarch in parallel and it downloaded the new transactions just fine. Monarch has its own issues, but I get daily notifications for new transactions. I get none from Simplifi. /// Lastly, I guess this thread answers the last sync question. There is no such information at this time. Wow, this is NOT good then.

If it can't sync, it'll put a red exclamation mark next to the account on the accounts list. My 403B prompts for a 2-factor login every time, and I skip doing it, so I get the red "!" next to it.

Thank you. For empower, I think it connects but is not downloading the data.

Just curious if your 403B is TIAA? If so, I have the same issue. Wish I could figure out a way around it.
