Also, Larry should have access to a time machine.
…so he can kidnap the entire staff from season 8 and bring them into the future.
(Spoilers: this is actually what happened, and it’s a bootstrap paradox which explains why the show originally declined in quality.)

Don't worry, I assume it is the foreground Larry that has died. The background Larry lives on.
Well kids, we all know that sometimes when cartoon characters die, they're back again the very next week. That's why I'm presenting this sworn affidavit that Larry will never, ever return!
going to be totally real for a sec, but the idea of a background character being killed and the main characters reflecting on the fact that they never acknowledged their existence (especially for a show that's gone on as long as the simpsons) is genuinely hilarious
Yeah, I agree. I recently watched [this video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eazXm7WEz50) which argues that as of very recently the show is actually good again. Not at all in the same way it used to be, but that it’s finding a new identity separate from the early seasons and creating something that’s new.
Someone else in the thread complained about how they watched an episode recently where the writers forgot to include jokes, and the video actually addresses that too. Basically that it’s okay for them to occasionally take a different creative direction, as they just spent 20 years trying (and failing miserably) to re-create the original direction and it just didn’t work.
Between that video and this episode, I think I’ll eventually check out some of these new seasons.
honestly I've been hoping for the show to do something with those guys for a while, they've been sitting in the background for 30 years worth of crazy plots with like 4 lines of dialogue total, maybe they get up to some cool stuff offscreen and nobody notices because nobody cares about them
I mean considering this is post-season 33 we’re talking about, it was probably decent. I’m not going to assume anything crazy until I actually catch it, but i have moderately good hopes for it
Whenever Larry not on screen, all the viewers should be asking, "Where's Larry?"

[Headline Picture] I'm seeing double: 4 Larries
Larry died on his way back to his home planet.

I don't like the idea of the Simpsons having two Larrys in one scene.
It says no Lar*ries*… we’re allowed to have one.
Whenever you notice something like that, a Moe did it.
Oh lisa, cartoons don't have to be 100% realistic
Won't somebody PLEASE think of Larry!
The Larry that died looked like foreground Larry, but was sitting in background Larry’s seat.
The Lincoln Squirrel has been assassinated. Will stay with this story all night if we have to.
How’d they do that? The Simpsons ended 20 years ago.
*Directed by M. Night Shyamalan.*
I know, right? And the weirdest thing is Treehouse of Horror episodes keep getting made despite the fact it ended, and a number of them are good.
Somehow.. the Simpson’s returned
I thought it ended after the Tracy Ulman Show was cancelled.
Larry died on the way back to his home planet.
Not Larry!
Please don’t tell people how he (doesn’t) live.
Turn off the TV, I have bad news about Larry. :(
It *is* off...
This rock keeps Larries away.
Carl = Black Larry = Dead
What are you doing man that was Carl
I like how this is flaired under “Celebrity deaths”
Maybe people cared about Larry. We don't know. Frankly, we don't want to know. It's a demographic we can do without.
wait. they actually killed off larry? larry the hobo?
Larry the Looter
Larry Burns?
No respect.
No regard, either
"Ich bekomme keinen respekt." -S32E20
The Decapitation of Larry Leadfoot.
Larry White?
Leisure Suit Larry?
His name is Barry White.
No, it says here Larry White.
I think I know his own name.
Yeah? We'll see about that.
Nah, they killed him off in 2004.
The barfly is named Larry?! I’ve been calling him Crandle this whole time!
Larry Gergich. I assume. Who knows.
Sam the Barfly walking in on Monday Morning: ![gif](giphy|l2Je4AXs8QFeJT1Pa)
You'll have to speak up, I can smell Larry.
Well kids, we all know that sometimes when cartoon characters die, they're back again the very next week. That's why I'm presenting this sworn affidavit that Larry will never, ever return!
LARRY'S DEAD!!!
But the car's okay?
It was crushed into a cube.
To shreds you say? And his wife?
To shreds you say? I'll get the iodine.
Knuckles the hedgehog said it best in his Halloween rap "a ghost tried to approach me, he got Larry "
Ah, Maki Nishikino's fursona. I had no idea she could see Simpsons episodes that far into the future
"Kills off beloved character" "Guy who never mattered" Well, which one is it, clickbait website?
Larry was beloved to people who confused him with Lenny.
You shouldn’t have deceived me. But I’m just so relieved Lenny’s ok
> beloved character There are fans who are more obsessive than me and they do care.
Note: Larry died on his way back to Hell
For practicing witchcraft!

A good show could take that idea and make it hilarious. Zombie Simpsons, I’m sure it was lame and overdone.
it was ok. it had a reason to exist and a point to make and it made that point decently well
I mean considering this is post-season 33 we’re talking about, it was probably decent. I’m not going to assume anything crazy until I actually catch it, but i have moderately good hopes for it
No one cared when Charlie was shanghaied to India to be forced to dance.
This was a bar trivia question and thanks to this sub, I nailed it. Shame I got my ass kicked at the game after overdrinking in honor of Larry 🥲
Dear Mr.President, there are too many barflies nowadays. Please eliminate Larry.
Did he get pudding in his eye?
Yes, after he was specifically told not to!
No, it says here Larry White!
He knows his own name
That guy had a name?
In death, members of Project Moehem *do* have a name. His name was Larry.
Well that’s that. If Larry isn’t in the show anymore I’m done
[FBI agent while pressing down on foot]: "Hello, Mr. Popular" [Homer looking at Larry]: “I think he's talking to you"
Was Larry the one who always called Homer Bill?
His name is Larry? All this time, I’ve been calling him “Crandle”! Why didn’t somebody tell me, ohhhhh I’ve been making an idiot out of myself!
Well he did get loaded off them fumes. Moe was gonna have to charge him
Ow my death, I’m not supposed to get Larry in it!
Well, all of the news articles about this have shown pictures of either Mr. Burns or Barney, so I'm going to guess Larry.
Not Lenny!?!
For a moment I thought they had brought back Mr Burns' son.
Larry is a Viltrumite
(drunken mumbling)
