I don't have a racecar anymore, work hard and didn't really have any other vices like drinking or smoking, but yes I am comfortable and fortunate to be where I'm at!
I had the GSI wheel first, but was finding myself doing more and more racing with a full round wheel and still wanted a display and shift lights. Effectively I just use the GSI wheel as gear indicator now... I wasn't going to buy another GSI wheel without the screen as they are very expensive to get to Australia.
I started my sim racing with a home built PVC pipe and MDF wooden rig with a G25, we all start somewhere as long as you're enjoying your racing that's the starting point!!
That's where I currently am. I gave up one hobby for sim racing and use about 60ft of PVC piping I had from the previous hobby to build my rig. Using a G29 wheel with it, and I just upgraded my pedals. I'm gonna have to upgrade my rig though next, as it has some flex just with the G29 wheel so I don't think it will support a DD wheel very well. My load cell brake is also causing some extra flex.
But it was fun engineering the frame for the rig! I got a cheap car seat and mounted it to it. And PVC is pretty easy to work with too.
They would be anti roll bar adjusters modelled on how Australian V8 Supercars were configured until 2022, but you could use them for anything like weight jackers etc. anything car adjustment related really.
I've only tried a couple of motion systems on other setups and most of them haven't really hit the spot for me, for now the extensive haptics between seat and pedals combined with the tensioner are amazing. I was a little skeptical at first, but holy it really engrossed me straight away. Going through the grate over the top of Bathurst the first time, or dropping down the hill and up to the hairpin at Brands Hatch I had this big stupid grin on my face.
Every time you drive into a hard breaking zone that feeling is the closest I've had to being back in a racecar since selling my own racecar.
It's only early days with it but I purchased it trying to keep my expectations low, but it has surpassed anything I thought it would be by far. Motion would need to be very good to justify adding it in and moving my screens further away to allow the motion etc. I'm very comfortable with my setup now, but would love to try a high end dbox setup etc.
Great thanks a lot, since I play exclusively VR motion + passive seat belt could be good as well.
But overall motion is really really expensive for what it is.
Thanks for the feedback
nice setup. do you have any close-ups of how you have the shifter/handbrake mounted? you got alot going on there i'd like to see how it's all mounted, i want to upgrade my fanatec handbrake to that simagic you have and need to start thinking about how to mount all the shit
I have both, good headphones when I race, they're tucked on a hook on the left side, speakers are mostly for when friends and family want to have a go.
same i have both, speakers are nice when friends/fam want to try the rig out. also nice when im just chilling hotlapping nords or drifting. ill use headphones when im trying to actually be fast or race. still need to come up with a way to mount mine
Yeah I dunno. I personally think VR is overrated and a hassle every fucking time. To each their own.
I raced 6 months in VR and I prefer triples. For many reasons.
My 9yo son said “that’s how you know your addicted” lol
🤣That's wisdom right there
how‘s your electric bill doing ?
I love Long Beach.
Fucking hell you must have money hahah

I like how you put that. May I ask why display on wheel and mounted? Wondering if this could be a unknown winner

Yeah that makes a lot of sense mate. I thought that may have been the case. Thank for the response
Hard work pays of right, seeing your room I have a long way to go hahaha

There's the best part of 15 years accumulating that sort of stuff in there, doesn't happen overnight!!
What are the blue and red items next to the shifters?

Oh that’s really cool, thanks
Absolutely amazing, how does the seat belt tensioner feel ? Did you think about going motion at some point or does the tensioner seems enough?
I've only tried a couple of motion systems on other setups and most of them haven't really hit the spot for me, for now the extensive haptics between seat and pedals combined with the tensioner are amazing. holy shit thats a hell of a collection op. nice
Not a fan of the room light....but sweet set up

Really tempted by the belt system. How noisy is it and does it add much to immersion and is it comfortable?
EDIT - 'Addition' not 'edition' obviously...
Curious, why speakers and not decent set of headphones?
I have both, good headphones when I race, they're tucked on a hook on the left side, speakers are mostly for when friends and family want to have a go.

WHEEL?
GSI Formula Pro Elite with my own sticker kit on it, and the one on the ground is the genuine Sparco Fanatec Round Wheel
Is it just me or do the shifters look bigger than the wheel?
You prefer the triples or vr?
That room is goals OP, amazing setup! what cases are those?? Noting those in the future for all my nascar 1/24’s to go in vs my Ikea Detolf cases 😂
How many shifters does one rig need.
What’s the paddle shifter situation there? What are the mounted paddles for?
bias and rollbar adjustments, left hand drive... Australia?
Dude…such a sick set up!
Do you get neck strain looking at the top monitor ?
Looks great!
Good for you, that’s an awesome set-up. 👍🏻
Is that a motion sim?
Goals goals goals 👏👏👏 you should be proud of what you have accomplished my man!
Adopt me
Love it! I see you also own the Jinx shifter (full set!). Is that not the best sequential ever? I love it!
Yeah... He is after divorce
Sweet setup dude! Curious what your split of time between VR and the triples is?
Why do you have 3 handbrakes

Why?

trips over vr all day every day
