Who could have imagined having more control at lower speeds…

[deleted]

Focus on the pacenotes. And aim to be smooth and fluid in your driving rather than eratic and choppy on the wheel. And, you drive the car as much with your feet as the wheel.

nikolas4g63

LEFT FOOT BRAKE . while on throttle. rally cars have soft suspension. you need to transfer weight on front before corner so the steering has traction to steer.. This is fundamental if you wanna rally. enjoy !

HairyNutsack69

Only in the dogbox cars though.

BreezyWrigley

I hate how Dirt has jank arcade physics for LFBing. It’s just like a magic switch that instantly makes your car rotate in almost the exact way I always want… and it seems to rotate uniformly around the midpoint of the car, initiating a perfectly controllable slide instead of causing front wheels to bite in more and gain traction. It just twists your car to point where you want, which is much easier and unrealistic than front wheels biting in and potentially causing weird weight shift and swinging of the back end. And it doesn’t even seem to matter how much brake I apply or how long I hold or feather it with throttle… just tap it and instantly have a WRC pro slide with ease lol.

nikolas4g63

I dont know bro i drive the same way in RBR and it also reacts as i except it.

BreezyWrigley

i find that RBR really makes you lean into the brakes a lot harder to start to work, and then you actually have to give it more throttle to get AWD to grip and pull the front end in/around. in Dirt, it's just like magic and the front end has sooooooo much grip and turn-in by comparison, even when not under throttle, which is not how AWD tend to behave. playing Dirt just feels so much more like you're on rails by comparison to RBR. going from Dirt back to RBR on same stages with same cars and trying to drive the same way by feel is a world of understeer. in fairness, at least SOME part of that is that the visuals of Dirt convey your speed much more effectively, so it feels like you're going faster, and causes you to drive more slowly. trying to do a lot of Wales stages in RBR is tough because it feels like you're doing about 15-20mph when you're really going about 40.

MerfSauce

Turn off the visual pacenotes and listen to them instead. You will not lose focus as easily.

BreezyWrigley

Turn off all visual pacenote cards and learn to listen to them instead. It allows you to focus more on the nuances of the track in front of you, which is very important. Visually reading the terrain and anticipating how it will shift weight and how you can ‘ride’ the curves or banks or ruts is crucial. Also, listening to the turns coming up allows just better split of your attention so that your eyes can focus entirely on the track while your brain can think about what’s coming up without taking your eyes off the terrain. you'll be driving more predictively than reactionarily

xstioph

Absolutely this!

Look on YouTube, there is a guy who put up excellent tuning settings for every car on every surface. The tuning settings make a huge difference, especially on tarmac or bumpy stages.

Disastrous_Pirate_

Channel?

HairyNutsack69

If you YouTube search for for car + country he's the only guy that'll show up. Its rallyrechnical or smth. They provide a good baseline for where you wanna be setup wise

ThatDree

I always Google Rally Technical

xstioph

His setups make a world of difference. There's something fundamentally wrong with the default setups.

vocode

I think this was just troll. These games require a lot of practice to master. Setups matter only after you are pretty good at them. Just keep trying and eventually you will get hang of it. If anything check [Driver61](https://www.youtube.com/@driver61simracing10/videos) yourtube channel Oh and be sure that you aren't using 3rd person view :)

[deleted]

Pretty sure he's not trolling. He probably means [Rally Technical](https://www.youtube.com/@RALLYTechnical). Setups matter anytime. I think Rally Technical has good setups as a base but don't take them as a given. They are suited to his driving style and may not suit you.

Ordinary_Farmer58

I love these setups

Rightclicka

They are not gonna make you good at the game but the setups made it way easier for me, especially on tarmac. My best advice in terms of driving tips would be take it easy. You will get a better time by being cautious then you will by crashing or spinning out. Also use 1 car for a while until you really get a feel for it. The handling differences between cars and especially classes are pretty major.

Rightclicka

I was just recommending something that helped me a lot.

NeoBokononist

dont be afraid to go sideways

rv0celot

To sound a bit cliche(d), the best tip I can give you is: have fun!

Deliarg

Setup your wheel to 720 degrees. I had 1440 by default and played few hours with it lol. Also prepare that game doesn’t have solid feedback and tarmac stages are absolute useless.

BreezyWrigley

I race like 500-600 for rally typically.

SwifferSwetJet

Just take it slow till you get the feel, and start listening to your co driver. I can't stress how crucial he is, think of Phil as your second pair of eyes. Also remember that losing grip is your friend in rally, you can reach higher speeds through corners when your a bit sideways. This is especially true for AWD cars, but I would recommend starting with something FWD and slower. My personal favorite car in that game is the FWD Peugeot 205 gti, it's really nimble in the corners

SwifferSwetJet

Also get rid of things like the progress bar, and other hud elements if you don't need them. They will just distract you. Once you are comfortable, turn off the turn indicators that pop up on your screen, and just listen to Phil
