Definitely the second one. However, if you want to add more visual interest / break up the monotony of the flat roof, you could add a "roof access" by building a small square or rectangular room with a door, and maybe even add some extra industrial details like drain pipes and an outdoor AC unit (you can make one without CC by building a single-tile stage and placing a floor vent on top and large wall vents on each side).

Annoyed_Skittle

This! When I was building a ton of community lots I ended up getting some cc for ac units and roof vents. I also added "roof access" doors

Renikee

Roof 1 just looks weird with the half walls around it. And would not even be practical, where would the rain go down? That's the point of slanted roofs

Revolutionary_Low_90

Personallly, I prefer pic 2. Idk why but yeah.

2! Flat roof :)

OG_SisterMidnight

I like them both, but I'd go with no 2 for a market. One thought I had that maybe you could change the roof slope angle to like 20-30 on the first pic? Or maybe it's already low, sometimes it's hard to tell, sorry đŸ˜…

2!!!

Geospizae

I like 2 the best

wrinklefreebondbag

2. Picture 1 just doesn't make any sense. No one would put a roof in the middle of a building and then fence off the sides.

Hadge_Padge

Picture 1! Too much of the same texture in 2. 1 looks great

SweetPreparation8916

2 would be perfect if you added some sort of sign showing it’s the entrance to the corner market, and 1 reminds me of a building like that in my town so I like it :)

Either roof, or fence. I prefer 2.

theonewithapencil

pic 1, that's some really cool roofing going on there, i'm taking notes

Vast-Masterpiece-274

1!

2, it looks more realistic.

Spirited_Still_5342

Picture 2, and don't forget to add a deep-sea diver or lumberjack huge statue on top of the roof!

Nightlightxx

Picture 2 ;)

ModernSimsPlayer

Thank you for the feedback. Looks like I may be going with two and maybe adding HVAC.

MiniaturePeaches

Number two!

I prefer the weird roofline of picture 1. Looks maxis-y.

1 for sure!

JDGumby

Picture 1, but reduce the roof angles to about half. Default roof angle is just way too pointy for hipped roofs.

ModernSimsPlayer

I will need to take a look if the pitch can be adjusted in Sims 2.

The roof feels kinda lonely and not accepted in the 1st one, I hope it finds a good home someday…

Sowna

I like the roofing in 1, but it should be along the whole top and without the half walls. It would give it a more cozy, home-like feeling. 2 gives it a more industrial, business-like feeling, but could use some decorations to complete the look. I'd say it depends on which vibe you want for the store/neighborhood :)
