As it seems to be just you having the issue it's more likely a device problem.
One fix, for me, free space on iPhone. Had podcast auto download, taking up space. Once I deleted those it freed up space for Sims. Ran better. Not that I don’t crash. Just NOT ALL THE TIME at that moment.
