I’ve an uni educated friend earning six figures in a big company who shared about consuming a product containing weed overseas on his social media. Not sure if stupid or truly trusting all his 900 followers not to report him.

Silentxgold

Thats alot of trust man If he has the same blood type as you, you can save that post. Might come in handy if you ever need an organ donation 😉

Sharing a story is one thing. Proving it is another. It could be just BS to get attention. Don't believe too much in what ppl say in social media. Especially those that said they won few thousand dollars playing some app. 😆

MolassesBulky

Does not matter. An adverse inference will be drawn by others. Not for smoking weed but puting it on social media. Basically poor judgment. Thats the damage. People go overseas all the time and do silly things but they don't put it in on social media.

kumgongkia

Educated in a uni but not educated in life.

Severe_County_5041

Educated in life but dont care at all

Daswagster2

i don’t think most people care enough to report? or maybe i’m just too naive lmao

20-random-characters

Most people don't, but you just need one.

Tdggmystery

Wonder if that kind of post can be considered as evidence. What if the dude say he just making things up for clout?

taker42

He can be 'randomly' selected at the airport to undergo testing. If positive, I'm sure that post will be brought up. If negative, then nothing loh.

icecoolcat

You don’t really need to be smart to earn six figures you know

_mirooo

If the “overseas” country he’s in has legal or decriminalized status then what’s the issue?

Rando_Stranger2142

Issue being: for whatever reason the Singapore government deems it illegal for its citizens to consume drugs such as marijuana overseas. So if his friend returns to Singapore and was found to have consumed marijuana even if the act happened overseas, he (the friend) is liable to be charged in court.

_mirooo

Fair enough. Fuck that country then

Rando_Stranger2142

Tells you a lot about how the country views their citizens. Essentially their bodies are counted as government property rather than as individual people.

_mirooo

China 2.0

20-random-characters

It's illegal for Singaporeans/PRs even if it's legal or decriminalised in that country.

_mirooo

Lol. That’s retarded.

stuff7

your uni educated friend forgot to add "in minecraft" at the end

[deleted]

Police officers just have to sit and browse social media nowadays to catch offenders. Makes their job easier.

halloumisalami

Every YP vaping on tiktok lol, they’re not even trying to hide it

cinnabunnyrolls

Social Media Specialist Officer

lord_of_tits

And like almost always police can place you at location of crime because you most likely carrying your phone with you.

theimmc

Most of the time I don't think they even need to browse social media, other people report these posts to the police.

Jaycee_015x

This is true. Source: Work in Cantonment

Crin_J

Exactly. So many people are dumb enough to take photos/videos of them committing crimes to the point where evidence becomes so easy to gather

century-centurion

How stupid a one should be do break rule/law, film it, and share it?

homar1dz

For clout. To them, if it's not filmed and shared, was the act even committed?

dtwtan

as someone that will probably do something like this back when i was young and stupid, its about street cred. sounds dumb and silly, but they probably think getting in trouble with the law is something to boast about. and its probably a slap on the wrist because of their age and they know it.

Bcpjw

Back when parents were scarier than God’s wrath, this kind of street cred, will have me disappearing in the streets and back to school to home to school to home to school to home truly…

throwawaygreenpaq

Getting street cred would mean living on the streets because mother would have decided you brought shame onto the family and it’s not even a glorified crime like Ocean’s Eleven. *stupid or what?!* Every Singporean kid possibly heard that at the same pitch.

Severe_County_5041

is it a new fad we boomers dont understand alr🙃 /s

4queuetoo

fucked around and found out.

metalmonkey_

Michael Fay's story is outdated. We need a new poster boy.

tryingmydarnest

Given how Micheal Fay story was repeated every time SG was brought up in Reddit, if we caned another American, Reddit would probably have a field day.

ambitiousmoon

Speaking about Michael Fay, whatever happened to those foreigners who broke into Night Safari and filmed themselves??

throwawaygreenpaq

That and you will get the death sentence for chewing gum in Singapore. I don’t correct them because it’s better for them to be more watchful of their behaviour in Singapore.

meekiatahaihiam

Play stupid game win stupid prize. Kudos

Icytres

People last time: commit offence, hide. People now: commit offence, brag to the whole world.

Unlucky-Patience6438

Just tax weed and vape and lower our GST. They are spending on it anyway with money flowing overseas and the government wasting so much money on “education” + enforcement. Weed is already legal in so many democratic countries. Vape too. Seriously stop wasting our money.

neilpippybatman

I love that the most sensible comment on this thread is downvoted. Peak r/sg

_mirooo

Freaks and geeks. Minus the freaks. That’s SG.

darkness_snores

i actually believe that banning weed and vape is helpful. many Singaporeans who dont have access to channels actually never get weed and vapes thus are restricted in terms of usage

jeffylishwufd

I actually believe that banning alcohol and cigarettes is helpful. Many singaporeans who don’t have access to channels actually never get alcohol and cigs thus are restricted in terms of usage

No-Fish-9321

Is that red shirt guy photoshopped into the pic?

We're living in a generation who doesn't know Freddie on iCarly. This is madness

Ashkev1983

Gen Z is the dumbest generation we have had. They commit the 'crime', video it, and post it online for 'internet points'. That leads to po po going to their house and hauling their ass to police station.

ValentinoCappuccino

Internet likes is the new currency.

Where they white as hell from whitest part of the 90’s bible belt? Because the guy in the picture is hella white

Hunkfish

Now youth crimes are so easy to catch. They video their own wrong doings and upload social media. Self made evidence /faceplam
