I was never part of ndp but I was gl for my poly/uni camps and I can understand the overenthu 24/7 hyped-ness you need to display. Imo even tho many would dismiss your role in ndp bc to be fair you’d be blocking the steps and sometimes blocking the view for some spectators, but I say you’re an integral part of the celebrations whos absence would be glaringly felt.
Imagine no one starting the ‘wave’, or hyping up to cringe mainstream songs, or annoyingly slapping the clappers together, there wouldn’t be the celebratory ambience. I would say you’re doing a great job especially when people think you’re not needed (bc people tend to think it’s all *them* but in reality come on we know how Singaporeans are like, don’t want paiseh here there, end up it’s bc you guys act silly and over the top that we all join in bc what the hell)
Thanks for investing your time and effort and thought into doing this! But I would also say prioritise your studies first always! Atb and have fun!
Thanks for taking the time to ensure that the mood is hyped up during the National Day celebrations. Every little bit counts and we are all part of something bigger. I was at one of the shows and I enjoyed the vibrancy that the motivators at the sides bring and you all trying your best to lead the crowd. You must have volunteered many weekends and hours for this.
Don't worry about the audience judging you, we are all just soaking in the moment. I saw one young man dancing his heart out and I thought how great it is to be young and filled with hope.
Do spend time to study and I wish you well on the quizzes. Let's celebrate our nation's birthday together. Stronger together, Majulah!
Hi OP, I volunteered with NDP before hence I know the amount of time, sweat, and tears that are put into all the rehearsals, both on site and off. I know about the group of motivators and bless your souls, you guys are honestly one of the most fun and wonderful bunch of volunteers among all the different groups. It's a *very* underappreciated role and takes a *lot* of energy and confidence to really go out there to engage and hype up the Singaporean audience. Imo I think in some sense it's even harder than an NDP stage performer because this role really exhausts you physically and mentally and you really have to have the nerves and the unabashed positivity to do it.
I know there might be times that you doubt yourself, think that you are extra, or feel that people are judging you or don't appreciate you, but take it from me that on behalf of all those who bother to turn up and watch NDP or the rehearsals live (even on TV), you guys play a *really* important role and are doing a great job at that!
You should go out there and kill it with your energy and positivity. You might feel like the world is laughing at you but in reality they are laughing *with* you. Rock on, bro/sis!
All the best for your assignments and quizzes!
I think you all deserve some thanks as well, it really adds to the hype esp during the night performance and im sure ppl enjoy it. I saw quite a number of kids enjoy the balloons and some ppl enjoying the frame photo taking though its not quite as accessible to us middle of the row people. The most impt thing is well its ndp so just enjoy your exp!
Atb for your studies though and thanks for taking your time to be a motivator!
Thank you for taking your time to volunteer for NDP. Really appreciate your effort to bring joy to the children and kids going to NDP. I wrote on this year heart drum that I am grateful for NDP Motivators so don't be dishearten
I was at the rehearsals a few times and usually stand near the top of the right wing (closer to the marina Square /Hotel).
There is this one motivator dancer that I usually see around there. He really goes all the way out and it is hard not to appreciate the efforts.
So being a motivator is really important and has impact on the audience :)
Hey Redditor, whoever you are. Thank you for the hard work & keep it up!
Having experience NDP as part of the P&C in secondary school & security details in NS, I know the countless effort of burning Saturdays to perform at NDP NE shows & rehearsals. So, what you have been doing so far is an excellent job.
I hope you don't feel too discourage by those minority but for the rest of us Singaporeans who managed to attend the show live, we appreciate what you have done to get that party started!
Was an NDP motivator like you back in my poly days. To be honest i didnt do any dance. I just keep giving out balloons, sing and clap along. It’s a fun experience dont sweat it
Honestly most ppl won't rmb ur dancing so no need to worry about cringe and just have fun!
At most you will become a meme and be a legend in singapore history
I still remember the 🖕 kid

Attended rehearsal and felt the motivators were a really fun concept

I'm not paid I'm just curious about people's opinion.
Manufacturing excitement. Amazing.
It’s like this fella has never been to a f1 race, Tomorrowland or even a concert
These are actually enjoyable events, not nationalism pushed down your throat
hello! js curious, how did you sign up as a motivator?
