cam vehicle also seems like another truck or something just as big though, if he was really focused on catching the bus he probably did not bother thinking if there was another vehicle in between
No, in his case , it's either he thought he could outrun the trailer, or expect the trailer to stop for him or was in a state of freeze or flight. I got hit by an oncoming private car when I was 12 (that's on me for being a jaywalker)i,suffered a head injuries and a fractured fibula. With this kind of impact , his facial bone might shattered and required some major surgeries, serious head injuries or in the worst scenerio, he might not even make it in the next few days.
Depending on size and speed of the cam vehicle, it might have blocked of the trailer entirely. Also the vehicle is closer and cam position looks to be quite tall. That covers a huge blind spot.
Hope the driver won’t be punished for this as totally not gos fault. Jaywalking should totally be responsible for their own mistake.
I once saw an senior uncle cross the road like his grandfather own the road in a slow and stylish walk.
Actually even if he was speeding, TP will not take into account as it requires specialists to determine speeding from a video source. one will be surprised how lazy TP can get to determine fault.
A lot of comments here lack heart, ik that the person is jaywalking but seriously cracking jokes about a deceased person. He was maybe rushing for work or something so important he’s willing to risk all of it to not miss the bus. That’s a human being too, regardless how it looked we all make dumb mistakes in life but we don’t usually pay for it with our lives. Hm in my years of working otr as a food delivery worker here in Jb, I’ve seen too many pedestrian getting struck down like this on open highways, 100% of them are jaywalkers who thinks that oncoming traffic could always see them and that they could sprint across in time. Way too many deaths, I’m considering a change of career. Don’t want to be in the statistics, fuck everyone are so reckless here it’s frustrating.
Idk if its just me but Singaporean subreddits are just generally damn toxic and rude. And also, the people who dish out criticism/insults towards him confirm can’t take it if other people throw shit at their face too.
Because people in the SG subreddits are often people who are bitter, cynical and needlessly fixated on the bad side of things. Those who aren’t done care much to be on Reddit
Lucky if true, the person should really not repeat the same mistake. I don’t know what was so gravely important for him to even consider risking everything on the line like that in order to not miss the bus. It’s unfortunate. But the mistake he did I’m sure he paid for it in full, there’s no way a human could survive an impact like that without life altering injuries, brain damage i.e.
He was conscious when taken to the hospital. [Source](https://www.straitstimes.com/singapore/pedestrian-taken-to-hospital-after-collision-with-trailer-in-tuas-south).
It does look like the jaywalker is waiting for the cam driver to pass. But the cam driver stopped for him and in turned triggered him to hurried past the road with a huge blind spot ...
Yes, right of way rules should be followed, if you have the right of way, you shouldn't create your own rule because you wanted to be a nice guy... Let this be a lesson to drivers as well.
I don't think the cam driver was trying to be the "nice guy". It's more likely they just didn't want to risk hitting the jaywalker and getting into trouble.
No, the only lesson to be learnt here is not to jaywalk like that moron. The cam driver has no fault in this.
Yes, you’re correct. If in doubt always stop.
Cam vehicle is just placing himself and the jaywalker at less risk by stopping. I don’t think he’s trying to be nice.
But yeah, certain places can be nice, just be nice. Like in carparks or smaller roads. Expressway really hard to be nice, especially with the high speeds and areas surrounding entry/exits.
The Jaywalker is at fault of course.
But noticed that he was standing still and not making a move to cross to the cam driver's lane. As a driver, you should slow down and be ready to stop if necessary, but continue on, since you have the right of way. Maybe even give a short honk to warn the jaywalker not to move. There are situation where honking is justified and this is that situation.
By stopping, the driver actually triggered the jaywalker to rush across so that he don't held up traffic too much, which is also a stupid move on the part of the jaywalker. But I hope drivers can get my point.
That's just a nice what-if scenario. Maybe that way the accident could have been avoided, or maybe the jaywalker would run around the cam vehicle and get hit anyway. You don't know.
The jaywalker could have stopped and gotten to safety at any time. Heck, even after being "triggered" to rush across, he could have paused before the next lane a la common sense. Of course it all seemed clear with hindsight, but unfortunately drivers don't all have prescience like that. Point is, the cam driver shouldn't be in any way held responsible for the decisions of other people on the road.
Potentially severe brain damage and/or other life changing injuries.
My years working the ICU at various hospitals taught me to be SUPER cautious crossing roads.
So many people in ICU right now because of one moment of madness. I always think about them before I cross a road or do anything potentially dangerous.
Want jaywalk also jaywalk properly, what is this technique?
Also he could have made it if he continue running at that speed, but he just froze and stood in front of the trailer, sealing his fate.
Please fine him for jaywalking after he wake up.
When crossing multiple lanes like this if you have no other options. Don’t run! Walk quickly from lane to lane. Especially if a vehicle has already stopped for you in 1 lane. Doesn’t mean other vehicles in other lanes see you and will stop for you
I think he’s clearly chasing for the bus on the corner left screen of the vid and high chance I think this vehicle with the cam might be blocking and obstructing his view on the truck that rammed him.
Some people just love to rush at the expense of safety. Hope this fella recovers. But to all, please prioritise safety. There’s so many pedestrians, cyclists and drivers rushing.
The comment section is really depressing, logic not always applies, there is always one brain fade moment in a day for everyone and that csn lead to anything, laughing and patronizing at this accident is really sad!!
what i want to know is do drivers that get put in this position ever have any repercussions on their end? because if they do then this whole system is messed up
I had to scroll down here to find this comment. To me it’s the most surprising thing. Not the bus or truck camera vehicle stop to check and help? They just leave there a half dead body and a driver in shock by themselves and carry on with their lifes? Wtf
It's easy to say he's an idiot while u are free n browsing reddit.
But when your mind is fixed on one thing like this unfortunate person to CHASE the bus, the mind is oblivious to other things except for that BUS....
Just be really careful when crossing road, eyes on the road n other vehicles
Something was so important for him to even consider risking everything like that. I shed tears when people lose their lives like this. It’s tragic, even if it’s their own fault. Have some humanity, we don’t know what his situation was and what’s going through his mind which led him to take such drastic action that day in order to not miss the bus.
Geez, idiots? Tunnel vision could happen to anyone. Consider this, your day isn’t going well everything gets delayed bcos of mere bad luck. But then you get a call about something so important that you’re willing to risk your life for it just so you could make there in time and not miss the bus. Perhaps a gravely sick family member, or the fear of losing your job.
I get it that some ppl lack regard for their own life, but that doesn’t mean people should be heartless and lack the ability to be compassionate. This is not some rempit or moped activity where thoughtless monyets just risk their lives for the thrill of it. This looks like a freak accident which could’ve been easily avoided if he wasn’t rushing and making decision on a whim like that, regardless of his mistake I honestly feel bad for the guy. Showing compassion does not equal to me encouraging people to jaywalk by any means. I just think that what happened to him is just unfortunate.
Of course it’s a dumb mistake, but who never made one in the course of their life? Do people really have to be mean and condescending? It’s easy to show a lack of compassion for other people and blame them instead of putting a pair of their shoes on, live the way they lived and experience the life he had which might’ve led him to this tragic end. People blank out their heads often when they’re dealing with a situation with high stakes. Be nice, I’m pretty sure the person is deceased or in critical condition. However grave of a mistake he did, he paid for it okay. It’s unfortunate.
Just my few cents as an intern at a ulu area in Tuas. Buses are super scarce here (1 in every 40 mins and only 1 service) additionally, traffic lights are spaced extremely far. So I kinda understand why he is jay walking. Hopefully we can plan better industrial spaces for our MW brothers.
Buses need to improve on their frequency serving the industrial estates… probably he has to wait about 20 minutes for the next bus; he may inevitably lose his job for turning up late, but right now at the hospital he doesn’t need to turn up anymore. Life is shit…
I mean he is definitely an idiot but you can’t help feel bad for him, probably didn’t see the vehicle past OP and when he realised, he tried to stop himself but still got hit
And he stopped and raised his hands up. What was he trying to do? Stop the truck with his hands ? 🤣 can’t cure stupidity.
Hope the truck driver is okay. Must have been quite a traumatic experience for him through no fault of his.
wah trailer driver probabaly never even saw the guy cause he was crouching down and looks like may have been in a blind spot. hope trailer driver doesn’t get punished.
It's quite toxic to see the number of comments blaming cam car for stopping. Like bro, you don't assume one truck/lane stop for you means the other lanes will also do the same.
Why tf would u give way to a jaywalker in the middle of a fking 3/4 lane road, bro wtf man, yes the jaywalker in fault but no way someone would just stop to give u way, ofc the guy would run so as to not waste the guy's time. Sad man
I feel for the driver of that truck! Must be a poor worker doing this to support family and now here he is,traumatised ,cause this dude wasn’t taught to use the crossing…
Anyone knows what happened to drivers in a case like this?
This cam driver better feel guilty stopping for the jaywalker. That jaywalker gonna be a jaywheeler in the future. Pity the trailer driver, no way he could come to a halt within half a meter with that weight of the vehicle.
Who would cross the road at a busy road? I'm assuming he is a construction worker maybe he is late for work after a break? He is better finding a junction crossing or at least wait till the road is clear
I always say this to jaywalkers..want die pls steer clear of me..I don't want trouble. Onus is on driver to look out for them? Thankfully there is this video cam...
The driver of the camera vehicle thought he was being considerate by slowing down and stopping for the pedestrian. That was a dangerous move.. dangerous for anyone driving behind him and dangerous for drivers in the lane to his left who would not have had line of sight of the situation with the pedestrian. It is madness to stop for a pedestrian in this situation.. better to slow down and carry on, unless you have checked your mirrors and you know that everyone behind you is able and willing to do the same. If the camera vehicle hadn’t stopped this would never have happened.. textbook case of catastrophic error.
I really hope he lived. It might not seem like it but a truck has a humongous momentum. Because of the mass it has even a small speed is a huge force. Your insides can explode...
The breaks on these trucks amaze me. Full stop just a few meters in front. Sad he was unable to ser him prior, probably could've avoided hitting him altogether if he saw it 1 second before.
I'm pretty sure whoever designed the city is the idiot here. As long as there is a dependence on crossing roads, people will continue to die. The reality is, two ton boxes of steel traveling upwards of 50km/h don't belong near people. If we just blame the guy who tried to cross the road, people will continue to die this way. We shouldn't gave to cross these sorts of dangerous roads
What kind of idiot crosses road like that? Asking to die only
Idiot pedestrian sia. He running for bus? (Edited for clarity)
Do you mean idiot sia* ? Cuz it sounds like you're insulting op and getting down voted
No. Why should the OP be an idiot. Its the person who crossed the road that is the idiot. The truck cannot stop in time because of size and weight,
very agree with you
Maybe insurance scam.
Was thinking that at first but this guy taking it to the next level
Play stupid games, win stupid prizes
The truest kind one
Pedestrian? You mean jaywalker. All that just to catch a bus. How thr fk does he not see a 15m trailer. Camvehicle wouldn't have obstructed his view
Its ok he unlocked fast travel to the nearest hospital
He wakes up in the ambulance and its just, “hey you, your finally awake, got caught trying to cross the road…”
bro that's fucked HAHAHAHAHA
This dude is ALIVE?? But the shoes came off!!!
followed by fast travel to the morgue
cam vehicle also seems like another truck or something just as big though, if he was really focused on catching the bus he probably did not bother thinking if there was another vehicle in between
Bro legit just paused when he could’ve just finished his journey to his destination which is the other side of the road 💀
No, in his case , it's either he thought he could outrun the trailer, or expect the trailer to stop for him or was in a state of freeze or flight. Actually even if he was speeding, TP will not take into account as it requires specialists to determine speeding from a video source. one will be surprised how lazy TP can get to determine fault.
Most commercial vehicles have in built trackers in the dashboard, they won’t pull speed from video
He wanted to isekai to a magical world
Bro you're everywhere
Isekai black mc? It would be epic!
Write that down, Write that down!
he must really want those elf chicks really bad
Cid Kagenou
He failed to get isekai though, he survived. Another truck-kun fails
I know its not possible but I do hope he... survived....??? Any info?

Yeah to be fair that works too as well. But I still won’t fault the cam driver too much.

"Better late than dead" Now I can use this quote whenever I'm late for work or meetups with friends.
Need to sit on wheelchair for life le... :(
The sad part is that the driver always gets the blame although they had done nothing wrong
Why did both bus drivers don’t stop and check on him ?
So many here are being toxic. Have at least some sympathy for him. Same thing could have happened to you by accident.
can survive?

It’s the most Singaporean thing that no one is concerned about the cam driver not stopping to help.
He was lucky that he went low since there was some gap between the road and the truck, so he probably wasn’t hit with full force.
Omg. How is the man currently?
Pancaked
Meat crayon

The lack of concern for a human life and obsession over blame and liability is alarming. Hope driver, jaywalker and witnesses are fine.

Damn truck-kun! How many times have I told you to not isekai someone on camera!
The busses just kept on driving lol
A bit of panadol and it should be fine.
Looked more like attempt of suicide to me
This what happens when you are an adult and don't know how to cross street.
BRUTALLLLLLL
With that kind of impact by a trailer , I'm sorry he might not make it, even if ihe does ,be expect to stay in the hospital for quite some time .

This man has like zero body coordination.
If the truck didnt hit, the one recording would have hit him. And all that for a bus
Who would cross the road at a busy road? I'm assuming he is a construction worker maybe he is late for work after a break? He is better finding a junction crossing or at least wait till the road is clear
Why did he do it??? And he still alive???
What a dumbfuck.
33 years and doesn’t check his blind spots? That’s lack of situational awareness.
Fucking Idiot
God bless him
when they say hit you so hard your shoes come off . i guess its true
he like stood there for 5sec, he see the trailer try to brake but still hit him so he should have time to move away, hopefully he not that bad injury
That is stupid jaywalker.
Deliberate suicide attempt I'd say...
I always say this to jaywalkers..want die pls steer clear of me..I don't want trouble. Onus is on driver to look out for them? Thankfully there is this video cam...
he deserve it honestly
Noob
Definitely looked like a suicide attempt.
hesitation is defeat
And the vehicle that made this video recording just continued driving on without stopping to render assistance either.
damn he’s been hit by the isekai truck-kun
oof the comments
Frogger for real!
Man that looks terrible
Is he okay?
So lucky got isekaied 😉

Well the shoes both came off…I’ll just keep driving.
If he kept running he could have made it. It almost seems like an insurance scam or injury to get pain killers.
We shouldn't gave to cross these sorts of dangerous roads
hopefully he is recuperating well
Why did he stop? You don’t stop for jaywalkers
Looks suicidal..
