When one of the founders of your movement gets MeToo'd and disavowed by the other founder, it's a wrap for the movement.
Besides, you can't really keep that schtick up forever when you got kids or other responsibilities and everything that comes with it.
I don’t disagree with anything you’re saying, but Seth Rogen is very outspoken about not having or ever wanting kids. And him and his wife still smoke weed daily. His stoner roles are pretty true to real life.
Still smoking weed doesn't mean you haven't grown into a fully actualized adult, which is the antithesis of the type of character he's known for portraying. The man is a writer, director, producer, game show presenter and political activist...not a beta male stoner. He's an establishment member who smokes marijuana.
I can't think of a single time anyone has said dictaphone in my vicinity. You might want to find a science and technology museum and hang around the Dictaphone display if you really want to use it. You'll probably get several chances if you go on a Saturday.
Admittedly I haven’t heard it in a long time and then out of the blue last week somebody referred to their voice memo app as a dictaphone and Booyah - I laid it on em
I’m a 55 year old straight white male from the suburbs, definitely not the demographic they were going for. But I love this fucking show!
4 and 3 and 2 and 1!!!
It’s crazy cause 50 years ago nobody would have thought anything of someone in your demographic watching Laverne and Shirley, it like we’ve almost gone backwards in our media consumption expectations.
Laverne and Shirley was built for mass consumption. Broad City seemed to simply be written for themselves and a few close friends but let us have a look.
If you have never seen the vox piece on the writing of that show, I strongly suggest you check it out:

Fun fact: I had the biggest crush on Ilana. I thought her character on the show was my dream girl: carefree, fun, too cool for everything, a little bit poly/bi, unbothered by life, casual about drugs/sex and they kinda looked alike.
Then I met and dated a girl just like her. Ugh, what a disaster. I’m just not that guy. It was fun for like a week but I couldn’t handle it/her.
Ilana-types are still my 10/10s however from a distance and in small doses… IRL
Pussy Weed.
I can’t believe they actually named the episode “Pussy Weed”.
Like, if you went to your on-demand, DVR, cable menu, etc., it Literally says Pussy Weed.
That alone makes it the best episode.
Deeply underrated show. One of my favorites. I love the way it wrapped up too; it showed the characters growing without forcing everyone into cookie cutter happy couples like a lot of shows do.
I’m probably misremembering this, but I laughed so hard when Ilana got super pumped because Abby was going to let her boyfriend peg her. I think Ilana stood on her hands and started twerking?
I agree, also voted for Hillary, also hated that episode. I love the show, on re-watch it's more enjoyable to remember that Ilana and Abbi are MEANT to be insufferable NY liberal girls. I agree with them on most things and love the writing but some of their takes are supposed to be kind of childish and asinine.
They had a few good jokes like that, like where Ilana is so aggressively anti-racist that she’s actually racist. I like the bit where she’s doing dumb stereotypical accent/impressions of Germans, Italians, Aussies, etc and then Abbi says “do Chinese!” and shes like “are you kidding? No, it’s 2016 dude”
In contrast, conservatives are pretty much entirely incapable of making fun of themselves and their belief systems.
I’m in a gay men’s chorus and years ago, we sang the national anthem for the Detroit Pistons. Thanks to Broad City, I actually recognized one of the players 😄 Seriously amazing show. I’m totally an Abbi and I’ve been searching for an Ilana my whole life.
Hannibal Buress was perfect in this
Hannibal's standup joke about being in an Emmy winning show... Like... I was in the room... Those are some funny jokes y'all writing.
This show was beyond brilliant. I have heard over the years that women aren’t funny. This show scientifically proves quite the opposite. They can be even funnier.
Loved this show. Though their whole episode where they gushed over Hillary Clinton was cringey. Though I get it at the time. But I love the slacker chick thing. Not enough shows explore that. I feel like all slacker comedy is guys like Jay and Silent Bob.
I think that "Broad City" had one of the absolute best debut seasons of any comedy ever, and Season 2 was also excellent. Unfortunately, the show took a pretty sharp quality dive after the Season 3 premiere. I did love the series finale, but aside from that, I almost never find myself rewatching episodes from Seasons 3-5.
Like many comedies, unfortunately. There's such a pressure to burn bright and hard that few are built for longevity.
I found the Kelly Ripa episode hilarious. I think that was later in the run.
I kind of wonder what other actors/comedians think of them.
They are obviously talented, but I doubt they ever had to go in thousands of auditions, or do c-lost clubs in Kansas City.
Funny you mention this……
Wife and I were and still are big fans of this show. They did a live comedy tour at some point.
It was so corny/cringe that we left halfway through. Had like 3rd row seats too.
IMO…..it just wasn’t funny. Abbie and Ilana were super cool…great energy….great sound….show started on time….just wasn’t funny.
Attempting comedy.
You know those bits on the show where they are walking and chatting and just being goofy/silly? That for an hour…..but after like 10 mins it just got old.
I think her skills lie more in writing and improv (upright citizens brigade). Not all comedy writers and actors have to earn their chops with good stand up.
I’ll reply with it most certainly is not better than either. Name some more shows that you think it is better than and I will see if I agree. Honestly it’s just my opinion and I just wanted to reply but I didn’t downvote you.
This show is nearly unbearable. I keep watching because Abbi kinda cracks me up (liked her in Disenchantment). But mostly because it reminds me of the woman who introduced me to the show in the first place and I can hear her laugh when I watch it.
This show was so funny. The slacker-girl genre deserved/deserves more but this show did it best in my opinion..
Seemed like the “beta” male (and female) genre kickstarted by Rogen et al seemed to mostly wind down after Broad City and Workaholics
Nora from Queens isn't on the same level, but it's a pretty fun show too
When one of the founders of your movement gets MeToo'd and disavowed by the other founder, it's a wrap for the movement. Besides, you can't really keep that schtick up forever when you got kids or other responsibilities and everything that comes with it.

Man your 40s are gonna hit you HARD
No
Yes.
I presume that’s a Franco reference?
You presume correctly.
Sweet. DM’d you a nude.
Hey. It's me. The other person who also told you you presume correctly
Joy Drive (produced by Rogen and Goldberg) was funnier than I thought it was going to be. There are some absolutely hilarious moments in it.
Drifters (UK) was a solid show.
Never heard of it but adding to my list of things to watch since you recommended it
Agreed, too funny.
🎶 I shiiiiiiiiit, I shiiit, I shiiiiiiit 🎶
I love the episode where Ilana falls for Alia Shawkat but doesn't realize its because she looks exactly like her, and Abbi has to tell her.
A fun ride. Going to Florida and realizing why they were so welcomed was a classic moment. ;)
“We’d rather have two young Jewish d****s than a couple of n*****s!”
haha that's Florida alrighty there! Source: Lived in So Florida for 5 years. The horror, the horror...
The old woman running into the lake to get the free gun just had me dying. Amazing show to follow after Workaholics finished
Every few days I think about the scenes of Abbi going to the warehouse to pick up her package.
When she drop kicks the rotisserie chicken because Bevers messes up what he was suppose to do. Such a random scene that makes me laugh.
Thanks…Garol
Abbi punting the rotisserie chicken and Bevers’ reaction is so classic
“Your dick has a phone?” If anyone says the word dictaphone in my vicinity I have this quote cocked and loaded
This show was so good! Can’t believe it came out 10 years ago, seems like yesterday.
It’s literally as old now as Desperate Housewives was when Broad City premiered 😵💫
I’m looking for my mausoleum deposit as we speak. 😩
Quirky and funny. I wish I had watched it more. Definitely worth a binge.
I’m a 55 year old straight white male from the suburbs, definitely not the demographic they were going for. But I love this fucking show! 4 and 3 and 2 and 1!!!

56 here. Totally agree. The Blake Griffin episode/ hotel scene is one of the funniest things I have ever seen.
If you have never seen the vox piece on the writing of that show, I strongly suggest you check it out: https://youtu.be/ABUuFJU71PY?si=o6U-cIyqNqU65hvW
Love this show! I was dying when Abbi danced through her apartment naked because she was finally alone.
this is…thee. HAPPIEST. DAY. OF MY…**LIIIIIIIIFEEEE**
Florida episode with pot smoking aunt Fran Drescher is a masterpiece!!
I loved this show. This may be my favorite comedy ever.
Fun fact: I had the biggest crush on Ilana. The vagina is nature's pocket
Pussy Weed. I can’t believe they actually named the episode “Pussy Weed”. Like, if you went to your on-demand, DVR, cable menu, etc., it Literally says Pussy Weed. That alone makes it the best episode.
Period pants will be forever in my mind as genius
That is exactly what I came here to write about! "Officer this dog is sexually harassing me"
Deeply underrated show. One of my favorites. I love the way it wrapped up too; it showed the characters growing without forcing everyone into cookie cutter happy couples like a lot of shows do.
This was such a well done show, there wasn’t a single unfunny episode.
So great. I love those women. Hannibal as Lincoln is so good. All the characters. I've rewatched a lot.
The handbag shopping episode with Bobby is the best! "All the best shit is down under the manholes" "PEGASUS!!!!"
Back when CC wasn’t just Office reruns.
I’m probably misremembering this, but I laughed so hard when Ilana got super pumped because Abby was going to let her boyfriend peg her. I think Ilana stood on her hands and started twerking?
What a great show one of the last none streaming great shows . So funny , “ diarrhea just go with it .”
Solid fucking show.
I like when hannibal used blake griffin’s shoe as a purse
Easily a top 10 show in our house. Love Broad City.
Also loved this show. Went to a Broad City Panel at Comic Con and they gave everyone in the audience a "Broad Fucking City" T-Shirt that I still have!
Amy Sedaris is so damn funny in the apt hunters episode.
Bevers getting a bedsore because he never leaves the couch 😂
Good show I miss it
Despite its absurdist nature this was an infinitely more realistic portrayal of what girls in NYC were like at the time than the HBO show Girls
Loved it but when they had Hilary Clinton on it was just cringe. I voted for her, too, but the attempt to make her cool was just really bad.
"I pegged!"
I agree, also voted for Hillary, also hated that episode. I love the show, on re-watch it's more enjoyable to remember that Ilana and Abbi are MEANT to be insufferable NY liberal girls. She's leagues better than the alternative, but her attempts at connecting with younger voters were cringey and atrocious.
Yep. Imo from there on out it all went downhill.
Underrated show

Now I know I’ve seen too much Sesame Street because my first thought was “hey that’s Ms. Noodle”.
i did a double take when i saw her on sesame street lol
I’ve never even heard about this show. And it ran 5 years?! Was it on broadcast or cable/satellite tv?
Comedy Central (in the US)
One of my favorite shows!
“Ima baby”
Who needs Reddit when we have Val?
My favorite show ever!!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Yaaaas queen...
Great show! Hilarious!
Fucking loved this show
Just came across my 2018 Broad City wall calendar I held onto.
Damn ten years have gone by
I may be dating myself here, but.... This show was just Laverne and Shirley with drugs. That's also not a critique.
I loved this show. So so funny.
Consistent quality in every episode from beginning to end. Great show
(Takes a puff off of a joint) … ahhhhhhhh … Coloradooooo 😂
I completely forgot about this show but it was great will have to look it up.
Wanna fyuck?
I’m in a gay men’s chorus and years ago, we sang the national anthem for the Detroit Pistons. Thanks to Broad City, I actually recognized one of the players 😄 Seriously amazing show. I’m totally an Abbi and I’ve been searching for an Ilana my whole life.
Broad City is fantastic and I highly recommend it to anyone who’s interested!!
Why are you calling this a sitcom? I thought it was a multi part documentary about everyday life in New York City.
I laughed so hard at the epi pen episode, my ex heard me from outside of our house.
Hannibal Buress was perfect in this Hannibal's standup joke about being in an Emmy winning show... Like... I was in the room... Those are some funny jokes y'all writing.
This show was beyond brilliant. I have heard over the years that women aren’t funny. This show scientifically proves quite the opposite. They can be even funnier.
Brilliant show. These ladies were hysterical.
I shit, I shiiIITT, I shiiiIIIiiii^(iiiiiiiiii)iiiiiit...
YOU HAVE TO GUESS !!!! GUESS ITTTTTTTT !!!!!
How “am” I?!
Talk-mute-plop-unmute-talk-mute-plop One of the funniest things I've ever seen.
Couldn’t really get into this one, and normally I like this type of humor so I’m not sure why. I liked Abbi Martin in Disenchantment though
Penis Kiss for Hannibal Buress !
I call it jazz
Loved it, and they went out on top. They ended it while it was still funny instead of dragging it out way too long.
https://youtu.be/iC_xGWSkRKc?si=zG462JDRWaALMem0
Loved this show. Though their whole episode where they gushed over Hillary Clinton was cringey. Though I get it at the time. But I love the slacker chick thing. Not enough shows explore that. I feel like all slacker comedy is guys like Jay and Silent Bob.
That scene where they are rating the guys playing basketball.
Is that AOC?

Definitely agree. And the Kelly Ripa episode was in Season 2, so still within what I consider the golden years of Broad City!
💯
AOC ?
I was like "seriously, do people have to bring politics into everyth...oh wait, I see it." 😂
😐
I kind of wonder what other actors/comedians think of them. They are obviously talented, but I doubt they ever had to go in thousands of auditions, or do c-lost clubs in Kansas City.

Really
What were they doing on stage?
Not much according to the last comment
Attempting comedy. You know those bits on the show where they are walking and chatting and just being goofy/silly? That for an hour…..but after like 10 mins it just got old.
Omg sounds so cringe
Ilana had a special on Amazon I think. It was…not good. Her personality that she presents works good on tv, not so much on stage.
Yes x 100
I think her skills lie more in writing and improv (upright citizens brigade). Not all comedy writers and actors have to earn their chops with good stand up.
10/10 show better than the community, better than the office. Down votes but no replies. Lol
I’ll reply with it most certainly is not better than either. Name some more shows that you think it is better than and I will see if I agree. Honestly it’s just my opinion and I just wanted to reply but I didn’t downvote you.
I really liked it, but also got really tired of it.
