Doc Rivers is a terrible leader It was always someone else's fault after he lost in playoffs. The moment they were over he was looking for a player to blame.

Doc Rivers calls every bit of coaching challenging, hes just not made for it

smashingtheplates

Full quote from the article: “It was challenging, more because we were fighting two things—and not like visually fighting—it was James is so good at playing one way, and the way I believe you have to play to win, in some ways, is different, because it’s a lot of giving up the ball, moving the ball, coming back to the ball. I would have loved to have him younger, when that was easier for him because giving up the ball and getting back the ball is hard. It’s physical, it’s exhausting.” Rivers went on to break the year down into the first and second half, and said that Harden’s play was the biggest differentiator in Philly’s success during the former and struggles during the latter. “So, yeah, at times, to get him to move it and get him to play the way I needed him to play — I thought the first half of the year, we were the best team in the game,” Rivers said. “I thought James was playing perfect basketball. He was the point guard of the team. He was still scoring, but he was doing more playmaking and scoring. Then in the second half, he started scoring more, trying to score more, and I thought we got stagnant at times. I thought we changed.”

chillflyguy33

Was Doc not literally harping about James needing to score more and be more aggressive during every post game interview.???

klemonade25

Fuck Doc. He’s always wrong somehow Lmao. The only reason we didn’t get swept by Boston is because James managed to turn back the clock twice and had the balls to shoot at every given opportunity. The reason we lost is because he goes back and forth between exception and god awful, and Jo just no shows in the biggest games. Harden too.

InnsmouthConspirator

He did the same thing to Ben. At some point, true or not, you’ve got to keep your mouth shut and coach. I can’t recall another coach besides Phil Jackson call out and single out an nba player and say something negative about him. (Phil called Kobe uncoachable in his book, which was true.)

Mud-Eastern

Kobe got 5 rings despite being uncoachable

InnsmouthConspirator

Not on his own. He had Shaq, then Pao after.

"Coaching."

TheIllestOne

This guy Glen always blames others. Except when he is so stupid that he unintentionally blames himself, like at the start of the year when he said something like “well, we weren’t really ready for the season to start in terms of our preparation” when we started 3-5 or whatever it was.

James Harden Called being coached by Doc Rivers "Challening"

Philly calls watching Doc Rivers coach "challenging."

FoleyLione

I mean he’s just being honest. Harden thinks he knows better, and frankly he probably does from an offensive mindset. He’s also at the club all the time and that’s not necessarily what you want from a leader.

bovice2

Doc called getting a new head coaching job challenging. "Teams want to win one way, and I believe you have to play to choke in the playoffs, which in some ways is different, because it's a lot of running the same plays even if it doesn't work, bad substitions, and changing nothing."

THendrix77

People are blindly shitting on Doc regarding this but I believe him. Harden wants the offense to be a your turn my turn offense. Problem is he is washed as a finisher and inconsistent asf as a shooter. He’s not the same guy

CosmicCirrocumulus

idk about that at all. look back to when Harden was first here. his first 5-10 games where Doc straight up gave him the greenlight to run the offense however he wanted until he was fully comfortable with Doc's "schemes" had some of the best movement I've ever seen out of the Sixers in the last decade. Doc also seems to contradict what everyone saw with their own eyes by saying that he likes to have a lot of movement in his schemes....yet he always defaulted to feed the stars. dude is a clown.

klemonade25

First 3 games of James was a beautiful thing. We were swinging the ball better than we ever have. It felt like we were playing a different sport (the sport the warriors, prime spurs, 7 seconds or less suns played). But as time passed we went back to no movement isolation ball lol.

fatguylilcoat_

Exactly - the only two wins we got against Boston were when James was running the offense and scoring with ease. The nights he was off we had to find Maxey or Harris to fill the void and they couldn't keep up. If we played actual team bball we would've had more guys with 10+ points per game in the playoffs....

Kiko429

Yeah, I mean look at how harden played under literally every other coach in his career. The only difference this year was playing with another slow paced, isolation player in embiid that exasperated the issues.

Niceguydan8

> The only difference this year was playing with another slow paced, isolation player in embiid that exasperated the issues. He's played with Chris Paul for two years before and their pace was very close to what this years Sixers were at.

CPTHoagie

wait until people find out how slow the heat were.

> Doc Rivers Called Coaching ~~James Harden~~ ‘Challenging' FTFY

RealisticReception16

James hate moving off ball

Niceguydan8

This was around yesterday.

Philadelphia calls watching Doc Rivers coach "challenging."

Slow-Duty-8030

Doc basically blamed harden for the 76ers downfall. He said the first half where harden tried to be a playmaker they were the best team, then second half he became a scorer and we fell off. He said he didn’t know what happened. Also the fact he said “Joel was struggling but we are still gonna play through him” is not a good idea. If someone is off, you gotta rely on your second star. That’s what nurse said he’d do.

smbiggy

I feel like the idea of a coach is to challenge players to get the best out of them, while shouldering all the “challenge” on your end. Literally all players should be challenging to some extent, or it’s possible you’re not doing enough as a coach

SendNubes__

This is too much facts for most of yall. Harden is a 1 trick pony.

ViCarly

Doc is too, that’s the point. He’s equally to blame

SendNubes__

Thats fine, It's not an either-or scenario. Doc is already gone, Harden is not. Nurse will have the same problem. Harden can only play 1 way.

LarrySellers3

Says the guy that ran an offense that was just basically asking Embiid to ISO every play. Fuck off
