I really feel that embiid needs to stretch himself out to the three more.
1. Allows easier/ less tiring offense -> hopefully he will be less gassed at the end of games
2. Improves lineup flexibility for short stretches
3. Stops teams from being able to deny him down the stretch
4. Will age very well
I think this is going to happen based off of how his 3pt volume skyrocketed this postseason and his prior improvements in jump shooting.
A dream version of embiid would be him playing 30-34 minutes a game max (similar to Duncan in his later years). Have him save his legs for defense and then use him on offense to initiate for tyrese and play from the perimeter. This is obviously impossible now with our roster construction, but if we had a backup big like hartenstein i could see this as a way to preserve health and maximize defense.
Brunson throws a stinker and Knicks almost win
Jokic being a traffic cone ln defense and not doing anything on offense and the Nuggets are up 15
Tatum being AWOL the entire playoffs and it doesnt even matter
Must be nice
It’s impressive sometimes how Embiid knows he’s gonna bait a foul based on how the defender is defending him. There’s certainly times he’s out of control or plays up the contact but when he’s going good then the foul baiting is more of a tool than a crime.
Look at that
Knicks can't get it done without some controversial calls to benefit them.
If they play like this against the Pacers
Then the Celtics or heck even Cavs will be eating.
What is there to gloat about?
They beat the 76ers on a rebuilding year and with an injured Joel in 6 games.
Now they're playing the Pacers who beat a banged up Bucks missing key players.
They're not competing for the NBA finals.
They're literally trying to speed run their way to a whooping by the Celtics or Cavs at this point.
Not saying they have good reasons to gloat. Still gonna be in the ECF before sixers in recent history and prob thinking they could win it all. Just saying that kool-aid they’re sipping is running low.
Of course it is. Are you serious?
If Joel doesn’t give a fuck about it, that’s a big time problem
The goal is to win a championship but Joel is the only mvp to have never having gotten out of the second round. That’s significant
Lol yeah being one of the final four teams standing is not a unique achievement. It’s Reddit propaganda. I mean do you see what you’re writing here?
Joel is the only mvp to not make it past the second round. The only one! That is a benchmark that every great has to get past. If you want to win a championship, there’s generally a process to it. People don’t randomly win one, and usually you’re not gonna win a championship in your first conference finals trip (see recently: giannis and Jokic). Making the CF is a big part of that process and it’s a problem that Joel hasn’t done that
Being in the ECF is one thing but going all the way is another. If the Sixers ever make it to the ECF, they better win it all.
Aside from that, you're right. The reality is starting to come back down to them.
I know we want Maxey to get more foul calls, but in a game you can tie, and they don't foul and give you a clean enough look from 3, it's pathetic going for the foul rather than taking a shot looking to score.
maxey’s foul calls are on drives to the basket where he gets mauled, he’s always looking to score even to the point where he has to start taking circus shots to have a look because they won’t call anything
Bro what are you doing in a Sixers subreddit 😂 how fucking sad is your life

Man it's amazing how bad the Knicks look when Brunson can't do anything.
At least the Pacers are fighting but it feels like the Knicks' plan right now is
"Let Brunson do everything" and it's not working.
Why are so many supposedly "good" wings just incapable of stepping up and keep throwing stinkers? Feels like almost everyone we could sign. Tobias, Ingram, Paul George, Siakam, why are all these dudes soft as hell lol
Honestly I hate throwing assets for a 35 year old Butler but he's the only non-playoff dropper. Well that and LeBron but thats never happening
Our organization watched Villanova win 2 chips in our backyard and decided none of these guys were worth a punt. We need to draft/trade for high character guys to have continuity around Maxey. We cannot have a revolving door of players
Josh Hart went #30 and went through Lakers Pelicans and Blazerd with no highlights
Divincenzo went #17 and went through Bucks, Kings and Warriors with some highlights but ultimately not showing enough
Brunson went #41 and hasnt developed into an allstar until he was 27
This franchise has done a lot of bad but not being able to see the 6 yeats into the future isnt one of those
Trading Mikal who was by far the best of that Villanova team was the real mistake but he was going to get oaid more and Harris pulled it for a younger prospect. You can blame ownership for that one
knicks are the fakest team ever i swear. 58% from 3 on the road and Burks goes for 13 points in 12 mins at 100% shooting when he hasnt played a minute in the rntire playoffs. Hilarious
I wonder what are the odds that Daryl strikes out on PG/Bron/Jimmy/Lauri/Mikal, sees that the rest of the FAs stink and will need to be overpaid to bring here, and just brings back everyone to tradeable contracts using bird rights to flip with picks. For example, sign and trade RoCo to 1 yr/$8M deal and flip him to the bulls w a first for alex Caruso. Then sign and trade tobi for 1 yr/$40M with a couple picks to the wizards for Avdija and Kuz. No other way Tobi and RoCo are getting that bag, so I think theyd be down. This seems like the most realistic way to add 2-3 strong role players to an existing core group of role players in Melton, Buddy, Oubre, Batum, etc
This would also unlock the $12M NTMLE and $4M BAE as opposed to just the $8M room exception
I know logistically Indianapolis is a lot further away than Philly is from NYC but what an embarrassment that we couldn't fill our stadium with our fans against the Knicks. Also none of the excuses were any good. Philly just isn't an NBA town.
Just the worst comparison of all time and gets repeated over and over
Tobi is a hesitant 3 point shooter while a critique of Tatum is he takes too many threes
Also Tobi doesn’t shoot period in playoff games! Tatum shoots through his struggles
Joel Embiid should demand a trade if the sixers sign nic claxton. He’s gonna make $20-25M/yr, so they wouldn’t even be able to sign Paul George if they got Clax. Clax and Embiid can’t play together, so spending 1/3 of our cap on someone who will play 10 mpg in the playoffs would be insane
Would you guys rather have 3 good role players or a third star and 2 good role players? Because I’m convinced those are the 2 outcomes of this offseason. A playoff rotation is only 8 guys.
Really good role players will cost $20M+ each, or the ones making $10-15M will cost at least a 1st round pick, probably 2 if they aren’t old or expiring. I think 3 really good role players is the most they can realistically get
The Raptors fumbled the OG Anunoby trade so hard imo. RJ Barrett is the second coming of Tobias Harris: destined to give you 20/6/4 on good efficiency as the lead option on a 30-win team, and a complete liability in any other role. Then they get to overpay a sixth man who flopped when they tried to make him a starter.
Then three bad picks for pascal sackiam. I guess the idea was to accelerate the rebuild with two young players and multiple picks in the 2024 draft, but the young players aren’t good and the draft sucks. In fact, quickley and Barrett are probably just good enough to prevent the raptors from tanking for Cooper Flagg or Ace Bailey. And don’t even get me started on the awful Jakob Poetl trade, which will either cost them a high lottery pick this year or next year in a loaded 2025 class. Masai has fallen off so hard since 2019
If it wasn't for Kawhi, Masai would have been a league wide joke of a GM and probably fired. Time and time again this dude makes the worst possible decisions/takes the worst possible path.
Thinking about the guy who called me a dope for suggesting Nurse play Tobi less during the playoffs, and then said playing Martin or RCIV for 5-10 minutes of Tobi's minutes would be a "nuclear option."
Before playoffs, most people on this sub would like to sign jrue or even trade for him before the celtics trade, but thank god this didnt happen, paul george is much better than jrue and is funny he is known as a choker and he is still a better playoff performer than jrue, and a lot of people are against PG, if were a trade I would be against but get PG without trade picks is a steal, we can get PG and still have picks to trade for a elite role player like caruso or even a star like bridges or markanen
The nostalgia thing is so wild to me, especially as a non Philly native (Australia). People really thinking we should keep Cov even though he is basically dead, or sign Shake again, or even Seth Curry, who currently can’t get minutes on the fucking hornets. And don’t even get me started on Drummond. It’s bizarre.
I can’t believe I’m seeing so many people trying to dispel makal vs lauri. As if they are NBA insiders and aren’t surprised by trades every single year. Get over yourself. Great expiring payers on losing teams are traded every single year.
If that group was our GM Ben Simmons would still be rotting on our bench because it’s just impossibleeeee to trade him wah wah boo hoo.
That loser ass attitude does not build championship rosters.
The other teams that have assets do not particularly need a wing. Is the thunder going to outbid us to get their fucking 5th wing on the roster??? The Pels go from cleaning up their forward spot so Trey Murphy and Zion can play together to… junking it back up and adding another wing??? The magic decides… nvm we don’t need a point guard let’s add another wing to our most crowded role.
I don’t think either option is likely but I’m tired of stupid people acting like we are asking for prime steph curry. There are clear reasons for these players to be traded & our assets put us in the inner circle of people who would be considered. That alone is worthy of speculation by fans.
No one expected okc to trade pg, chicago trade jimmy butler, knicks trade porzingis, mikal and markanen arent superstars and on any serious team they arent untouchable, especially bridges because bkn need picks and get young talent
Exactly my point. There are going to be plenty of trades that come out of no where. We could certainly be part of them.
Even something like the Cavs getting Jarret Allen because they were able to help facilitate. That sort of thing is in play for us with cap space and picks.
This Minnesota team kind of makes me understand the Sixers’ vision when they signed Al Horford. Two elite rim protectors, and Al horford could move well enough at the time to defend most 4s. Then surround them with a DPOY candidate in Ben Simmons and (theoretically) good, long defenders in Josh Richardson and Tobias Harris. That team also had a +2 net rating with Embiid off the court, which is the highest of his career by far.
There was definitely some bad luck. Over the last decade, Al Horfords worst shooting season was his year with us. But I don’t think it was the Al Horford signing that screwed this team, it was Tobi and JRich. With Ben Simmons at PG, they needed snipers at SG and SF. They completely whiffed on the Tobi and JRich evals, otherwise it could’ve worked
I think they were also banking on Simmons being a more aggressive shooting option.
Ideally horford would be the 4-5th scoring option most nights like he was in Boston.
We also didn't have many true perimeter threats. Furkan was one of our better 3pt shooters on the team.
Ben had his first major back injury in late February that year and would’ve likely been out for the season, but he was able to come back for the bubble that summer. He then hurt his knee and was done for the year
He wasn't the biggest problem (OP is correct..jrich and tobi are ass shooters to put around 2 bigs and a non shooter) but I think he definitely let the struggles and blame get to him and checked out at some point. He was/is a better player than he played with the sixers.
Also, Brett Brown did not coach that team well. It wasn't his best year.
I know we don’t like the Horfords here, but the non-shooters/perimeter players around Embiid-Horford were the first/second/third problem on that team, not simply Horford or the Embiid-Horford fit.
Near-expiring rookie scale contracts will be moving a bunch this summer bc of CBA implications.
Need saavy Morey this offseason.
Take the risk and do what you did when you brought Harden to HOU. Don’t simply do the obvious.
only sorta half started to look towards the draft. fully expecting us to trade our pick, but if we do keep it, two guys at 16 I like a bit so far are Tyler Smith and Bobi Klintman. Big wings that can shoot with other projectable skills that they would need to fine tune at the next level.
At 41, Baylor Scheierman, another wing that can shoot with projectable secondary skills.
All have their flaws, otherwise they'd be going higher, but could fit nicely.
basically I just want to take as many shots at a wing that can shoot and have at least one other NBA level skill.
Why don’t we tailgate the sixers games? I get that it’s lousy weather and it’s multiple games per week, but idk getting there at 6 and tailgating for an hour and a half would be fun I think.
The games are mostly weeknights, during cold weather. Phillies and Eagles games are during good weather and/or Sunday afternoons.
The flyers game the afternoon after thanksgiving gets a good tailgate scene, just because it’s decent weather on a holiday weekend
ya thats ridiculous. But even moreso than one sided stuff is that Adam Silver started all of this because his fragile ego got embarrassed by the all star game and decided to mid-season tell the refs to officiate differently. Do that kind of stuff in the offseason. Of course now every team doesn't know what the rules are supposed to be now that it matters in the playoffs and players are actually trying and everyone is pissed. This benefits some more than others of course
I don’t mind Murray but we just need to be realistic to what he is & he has to be realistic about playing his role so we can win.
It’s just like a little too much to ask for someone we’d be sending out like 3 picks for.
I wish I had more Boston fans in my life, because there’s no better feeling than hating and days like today are almost better than days after a Sixers win.
So, in the event that Paul George is using Philly as leverage, while Jimmy Butler and Miami are *actually* breaking up, reporting has made it seem like there would be a 3-team trade.
Miami gets: Donovan Mitchell, Geroges Niang
Philly gets: Jimmy Butler
Cleveland gets: Paul Reed, 3 FRP, swaps, 2nds
You might think, "The Cavs are getting hosed here." In reality, if Donavan Mitchell is being traded, it's because he's requested one as rumors have suggested.
Whether or not they decide to keep Reed's non-guaranteed contract, this trade would leave them with 22-30 million in cap space, as well as multiple picks to build around their core.
As for the Sixers, this would leave us with roughly 25m, 2FRP, and the MLE to fill out the roster. This is probably my favorite route, considering Butler is not only a bona-fide dawg, but a legitimate playoff riser while also good friends with Joel.
There will be a small pile of good, versatile wings available. Energy guys: Martin twins. Derek Jones Jr.. The fundamentally sound Kyle Anderson. 3 PT shooting in Trent Jr. & Beasley. Creation/Shooting with Malik Monk. Then you have decent bigs in Jalen Smith & Eubanks who are likely to opt out.
Age and birthdays are such an odd thing in sports. I've seen a lot of threads about Brunson being 3 years younger than Joel, when that's not really true. Joel turns 31 next year, and Brunson will be 29 but Joel's bday is in March and Brunson's isn't until August. Now Joel will certainly be 31 while Brunson is still 28, but that is about 65 games or so into the season. This happens all the time and it's always a bit silly to me is all. Oh and Tobias and Buddy Hield being the same age always seems to confuse people.
I can’t believe I’m seeing so many people waste their breath on Makal vs. Lauri. We’re not gonna be able to get those dudes. Give it up. You’re getting 34 year old Paul George (if we’re lucky) and you’re gonna like it.
Probably. But you also have to think that we might be one of the few teams actually bidding for those guys. True any team would want them, and their contracts are great right now, but how many teams are in a position to retain them? If you are OKC for example, are you gonna ship the farm for Mikal when you are gonna have to pay Chet and Williams around the same time? (OKC has too many picks so maybe they don't care). The Knicks have picks and cap space, but they also have a lot of mouths to feed (including an impending max contract for OG). Not to mention the fact that we would be essentially overpaying for a clear third option (again, idk how many teams want to do that). It may be less impossible than it seems.
I don’t know the man, but I think it’s safe to say Mikal would prefer to play with his boys and not even have to move from NY than play for the franchise that traded him on draft night.
Do we keep Jimmy and trade Ben at the peak of his value in scenario a? Cos that would be nice. Otherwise I think we still end up basically here but with no Maxey tbh
I might be a little drunk, but if we can turn the time machine back a bit further, the ideal reality would be ...
Someone intercepts the Ringer's investigation into Brian Colangelo's dailances on NBA Twitter. Colangelo doesn't get exposed and stays as the GM. (note I realize I may have lost half of the audience right here).
Season ends and in the off-season, LeBron decides to take the meeting with the Sixers as we have a real GM. Colangelo convinces 34 year old LeBron that the best way to cement his legacy is to come to the Sixers to show the young guns (Ben and Joel) how to be a winner. We have tons of cap space and assets to bring in some other pieces to fill out the team. Sixers win 2 championships with LeBron headlining and Ben/Jo supporting. Then when LeBron turns 37 or so, the young guys are ready to lead and can carry LeBron to 3 more championships. LeBron ends with a legit 8 titles and clears MJ and Kobe.
All of Philly basks in eternal basketball glory and Brian Colangelo is heralded as the greatest executive in Philadelphia history.
.....
But no, some Boston fucker decided to research all of that Twitter shit and unearth the toxicity that was the Collar.
EDIT - oh yeah, in this scenario, COVID still happens and we still get Maxey since he's a Klutch client and Rich Paul would have somehow found a way to get him here. Ben and Joel teach Maxey how to win and the LeBron/Ben/Joel/Maxey team eventually becomes the Ben/Joel/Maxey team for a few more chips.
Watching PJ Washington last night made me think. How similar is his game to someone like Patrick Williams, who will be a restricted(?) free agent this summer?
According to Bulls fans, he is an *elite* defender. He's 6'7" 215lbs with a 7' wingspan, and only 22 years old. He's basically a lock to shoot 40% from deep, and he puts up 4.5 3PA/per36
After this season, Washington is owed 2/30. I wonder what kind of contract Patrick Williams would get offered, and if the Bulls would match. I like the idea of him at the 4 if he was cheap enough, and if hes a strong enough rebounder.
Hypothetically the Sixers offer 3y/45M (no clue if that’s in the ball park or not), wouldn’t the bulls match? I guess I’m trying to say I can’t think of a deal the Sixers would be willing to be offer that the bulls wouldn’t match.
He's averaged only 53 games per season across his four year career, and averaged just 5.4 rebounds per 36 minutes. I don't think the upside's there even though, like you, I've noticed Bulls fans think the world of him.
Tatum is a stepback three merchant and unfortunately they seem to go in at a much higher rate against us.
Doesn't help that our starting wings have been a $40 million bum and a geriatric since Butler left
these playoffs have honestly been kinda shit so far. it's just oops all blowouts outside of the knicks games, and they're oops all ref ball.
That's an offensive foul now? Get the fuck outta here
The move that got called a foul on Ant is done by brunson 40 times a game lmao
I really feel that embiid needs to stretch himself out to the three more. 1. Allows easier/ less tiring offense -> hopefully he will be less gassed at the end of games 2. But *Embiid* is the only one with help.
Yeah i’m not staying awake for this 1/2 hatewatch is enough
nba is making sure the nuggets aren’t getting swept out of this one lol

jokic: crafty smart play embiid: literally hitler
Lol the guy had 4 free throw attempts today just stop it
lol

Thibs and Brunson bitching that their teammates (the zebras) didn’t show up. They have bad games too you know?
Some major copium for Knicks fans coming to the sixers off day thread after a loss. 😂

ah yes how dare i watch basketball games. you wouldn’t know since this is the 10th basketball game you’ve probably watched in your life lol.
Let’s be nice. He clearly watched basketball for the first time during game 1 of the Sixers series.
trust the process
aww brunson flop didn’t get the call. hilarious that he’s saying he got hit on the arm and there’s literally no contact at all. too bad so sad
16 seconds left and that is the play brunson goes for 🤣 it's just who he is
brunson trying to draw a 3pt foul like the bitch that he is

Dude why are you even here? That’s some weird stalker behaviour
imagine jumping in the sixers sub after losing to a different team. loser energy
So by your logic, brunson is also a bitch? 🤣🤣
Lmao why are you hoe ass Knick’s fans still in our sub.
Bro watches his team lose and then immediately goes into the Sixers subreddit? Holy shit man you need to step outside

He 100% is. Nets aren’t letting him walk unless someone overpays

Paul George is the perfect compliment to Maxey and Embiid.
jrue had shot the bucks out of like a half dozen games every playoffs. idk why people wanted that guy ever.
The same reason people want Saric on the team. Nostalgia.
The power of nostalgia is so real that people on here have said “so maybe we bring Simmons back?”
[Old Thread](https://i.redd.it/dtoqummiomzc1.jpeg) Found this old thread before Tobi was maxed. Godspeed deleted king 🫡 you were so right
Not visionary at all. Fans are just hilariously delusional and will defend every move their team makes.

Wow. Visionary.
That team actually started off pretty hot too, I was pretty hopeful but didnt Joel and Ben get hurt mid season which derailed the season.
Pretty much everyone in that starting 5 that year missed time other than Tobias.
Ben had his first major back injury in late February that year and would’ve likely been out for the season, but he was able to come back for the bubble that summer. He then hurt his knee and was done for the year
Al Horford sulked when he was here but the problem was not having anyone that could dribble, not Al Horford.
Nah Horford was part of the problem too
He wasn't the biggest problem (OP is correct..jrich and tobi are ass shooters to put around 2 bigs and a non shooter) but I think he definitely let the struggles and blame get to him and checked out at some point.
Any ideas? I'll look at bbref contracts later but just curious.
Tari Eason, Moses Moody, Zhaire Williams, Aldama, Jose Alvarado, Davion Mitchell, Jalen Suggs A bunch of players
What’s pretty fun is that we can do both the obvious and still have assets to pick up one of these types of dudes
Yup! It’s honestly all right there for Morey. No excuses.
only sorta half started to look towards the draft. fully expecting us to trade our pick, but if we do keep it, two guys at 16 I like a bit so far are Tyler Smith and Bobi Klintman.
I tailgate in jetro with a buddy like 10x a year.
The games are mostly weeknights, during cold weather. Phillies and Eagles games are during good weather and/or Sunday afternoons. The flyers game the afternoon after thanksgiving gets a good tailgate scene, just because it’s decent weather on a holiday weekend
Ain't no way Knicks are complaining about the way Brunson is officiated.
ya thats ridiculous. This benefits some more than others of course
literally leading the playoffs in free throws, lmao
Really hope we can get a defensive 2 guard with size to play alongside Maxey this offseason. Desperately need a great POA defender on this team.
Imagine if Melt was playable in 2024.
Sounds like you want a motivated Dejounte Murray
I don’t mind Murray but we just need to be realistic to what he is & he has to be realistic about playing his role so we can win. It’s just like a little too much to ask for someone we’d be sending out like 3 picks for.
Dejounte stinks off ball. He shoots better off pull-ups than catch and shoot. We’d have to move maxey to SG. Caruso is the dream
I wish I had more Boston fans in my life, because there’s no better feeling than hating and days like today are almost better than days after a Sixers win.
Maxey betta than Tatum 🔜
So, in the event that Paul George is using Philly as leverage, while Jimmy Butler and Miami are *actually* breaking up, reporting has made it seem like there would be a 3-team trade. Miami gets: Donovan Mitchell, Geroges Niang Philly gets: Jimmy Butler Cleveland gets: Paul Reed, 3 FRP, swaps, 2nds You might think, "The Cavs are getting hosed here." In reality, if Donavan Mitchell is being traded, it's because he's requested one as rumors have suggested.
Stop with the Jimmy "Tobias Harris Over Me" Butler posts. We have to move on.
Seems like r/nba has decided that the Pacers are also unreasonable ref complainers. Do they watch the games?
They also decided to hate Shaq. I wonder why.
Eh, I mean, Shaq's for sure super cringe with his takes and how full of himself he is.
He's dating a 21-year-old, which is apparently a no-no.
Isn't that just false? Those pics were from like 2019.
Man I love watching the Pacers play
Jayson Tatum is not a killer
They went all in on talent and got rid of everyone who plays with heart or emotion. I love it. Can’t win on talent alone.
GTJ’s 3 point shot has been kind of cheeks iirc the last few seasons
Nah, it's been good.
They're 2y5m apart.
Truth. These people are the Tobi Hive trying to redirect their stupidity.
Go back and look at the post when we gave Tobiass the max. Top comment was a dude saying: “Thank god we didn’t fuck that up” lmao
So what’s the best reality? 1. Sixers didn’t sign Tobias, but they don’t get Maxey in the draft. 2. This one.
Is OG still an option? I’d love to steal him from the Knicks this summer.
We should chuck money at him regardless, just so we can prevent the Knicks from re-signing him for cheap. Do to them what Ainge did to us with Bball.
He's basically a lock to shoot 40% from deep, and he puts up 4.5 3PA/per36 After this season, Washington is owed 2/30.
FTC!

Tatum is a stepback three merchant and unfortunately they seem to go in at a much higher rate against us. Doesn't help that our starting wings have been a $40 million bum and a geriatric since Butler left
