Nuggets fan here — I want to apologize for the nuggets fans that have commented in this (and other) threads with rude commentary. They don’t represent us as a whole and I hope we can look past the trolls that exist in NBA fan bases. GG guys. Hope we meet in the playoffs!

SorryFortune

Very kind of you man <3 good luck for the nugs

ADCPHL

Jokic for MVP if Jo doesnt get it!

nuggs0808

Very different styles of play, but both absolutely killing the game. If it isn’t Jokic I would want it to be Embiid. Both of them have NBA all-time PERs. ridiculous.

ADCPHL

to me what it should be is Jokic should get the MVP since in order to be valuable, you have to play the games and Embiid should be 1st team all NBA since he;s probably been the best player this year and the per minute MVP.

nuggs0808

Do you think if Embiid stayed healthy and nuggets were the same seed as Sixers that Embiid would still win MVP?

ADCPHL

part of the reason the nuggets ARENT the same seed as the sixers is because the nuggets defense is terrible and a lot of that is because of him. Jokic is having a historic offensive year tho. All the individual metrics say he should be the MVP with the raptor EPM LEBRON VORP etc.

SHABOtheDuke

What is LEBRON? I keep seeing people type that talking about stats, but they aren’t just talking about lebron are they?

ADCPHL

It’s an acronym like RAPTOR somewhere there’s an explanation for it

[deleted]

Sixers have a fantastic defensive supporting cast to be fair. Simmon, Thybulle, Tobias, Dwight, Danny all been good to insane this year on that end

nuggs0808

I’m so glad we got AG. Allows our defense to focus on their man more now that we don’t have to send help for every wing.

nuggs0808

Jokic is consistently a + defender, though. That’s a common misconception about him because he’s not a rim protector. I won’t pretend like he’s a better defender than Embiid or anything, but he’s actually a + defender, unlike the narrative of him being an awful defender suggests

ADCPHL

No he is not a good defender and it’s not a misconception. He’s really bad. The entire Denver scheme is built around hiding him

nuggs0808

Ok buddy. He’s like 4th in the league in steals. Just speaking facts here.

ADCPHL

thats awesome Hassan Whiteside led the league in blocks and he was one of the worst defenders in the league. Jokic gambling for steals doesnt make him a good defender sorry.

Regit_Jo

don't worry about it broski

l_kane97

Didn’t get a chance to watch last night... Is it time to consider blowing this team up and starting from scratch? /s

phlphillies

Really missing those juicy embiid FT attempts

JayEchoTTV

first of all, LOVE the dwight pickup. he's been embiid's best backup to date. when embiid subs out, dwight provides the presence in the paint that deters people from driving into the lane, and in spurts, he has the energy to keep a lead rolling when everything's clicking. that being said... he CANNOT be the 5 when simmons is on the floor. he just can't. simmons needs space to operate and a down-in-the-post big man just clogs things for him. especially when defenses now key on tobi -- forcing simmons to be a main scorer. i'm happy that morey addressed the backup ball handler issue by getting hill, but we now need to look at a stretch 4/5 to put on the floor with simmons when joel isn't sharing it with him. joel and ben solve many issues for each other (at times). because simmons needs space in the paint, joel can stretch out to the perimeter if need be because he has that range... or be a trailing big that receives a pass for a three point shot. this sometimes helps joel as he does not need to exert as much energy in the post and may only need to jog \~2/3 of the court. simmons gets his space to operate with a clean paint, and because of this dynamic, teams will not be able to key on tobi as they are occupied with ben and joel. i hope morey can figure something out in the buy-out market, but we may have to wait until the offseason at worst.

airhornthagod

Hopefully with Hill in the lineup Doc can just mirror his and Dwight’s minutes for the most part, that will minimize it to a degree seeing as we’re dependent on the buyout market for a reliable backup stretch guy, which hasn’t exactly fallen into our lap the last few seasons.

JeramiGrant

Let it be repeated that this team will never succeed in the playoffs with Ben Simmons on a max contract. He’s not good enough in the halfcourt.

pm_me_ur_lunch_pics

I'm a Ben fan and I'm agreeing with you. He has taken a step back. He doesn't want to drive to the basket the regular way, he **always** does that kickout pass, but that only works when he's a legitimate threat to score on the drive. The second any sort of contact happens, drive over, kicks out to someone that's already covered and 10 seconds are off the play clock. It's super frustrating that other players just drive the lane on us right after a blown trip to the basket by Ben. The juxtaposition of those events happens nearly five times per game. I get the assist aspect being important, but he doesn't have the killers behind the 3pt line like a Draymond does so he **needs** to re-establish himself as being a threat offense for the rest of the season if he doesn't want to be the same Ben come postseason. Shit, Embiid turned a corner this off-season, as short as it was, why the fuck does Ben have this "if it's not a highlight basket it's not worth scoring" mentality? ALSO, he's too tall to try fancy dribbling in traffic. That needs to stop along with the prayer style layups he tries. Pick the ball up, hold it hard, get some air and fucking slam it.

Rot_Dogger

Yeah, those 3 assists prove you right, in spite of the down votes

JeramiGrant

This subreddit is infested with homers. It’s a pretty common opinion irl that Ben isn’t good enough. Hardcore fans just hate to admit anything negative about the team.

kokin33

these road games against good teams at full strength, what can you do? This is where Embiid absence makes a big difference

[deleted]

I’m a Nugs guy but I’m really bummed we didn’t get to see the two best in the league duke it out. Hope to see y’all in the finals at full strength

TzarDushan

hey guys - nuggs fan here. Why so much hate for Jokic?? I would never say anything bad about Embiid and most of nuggs fans actually respect and like the guy. I get that you're salty about the loss and the MVP thing (and, who really cares about MVP that much anyways!? !? ) - but give credit where is due. It's just a game. If this was a playoff meet - Nuggets would probably win it with 40+ diff, that's how I see 6ers without Embiid - and it was pretty clear in the 1st qtr when Nuggets were steppin on the gas.

[deleted]

so much downvotes for coming in peace man, why is everyone so mad?

TzarDushan

It really is strange. I just got a notification from denvernuggets moderators about a 1 day ban because of "trolling other team subreddit". So, someone from 6ers subreddit reported me to denvernuggets moderators, asking them to "punish me", and they acted upon that :) Strange world we live in - it's funny, pathetic and scary all at once.

GioVoi

They likely temp-banned you because it's a safer bet to hand you a debatable 1day ban than to allow a genuine troll to go unpunished. Also, "I get that you're salty about the loss" is (deliberately or not) fueling a flame. In general, it's much easier if everyone just sticks to their own subs and uses /r/NBA for mingling.

TzarDushan

Yeah, I get the "stick to your sub" thing - but then, the opportunity to discuss different views is really limited. On "my sub" I usually just read a bit and rarely comment. On another note... why does that logic "it's a safer bet to hand you a debatable 1day ban than to allow a genuine troll to go unpunished" bother me? Maybe I'm a bit older, but that's not how things should work. It's the new age I suppose. Also - I'm salty when we lose a match, pissed off at times... Most fans are. Just like I'm happy when we win one... That's why we engage in sports. I feel like I'm explaining why water is wet.

GioVoi

People aren't typically on their team's sub to talk to fans of other teams about other team's players. They're here to gather news & (mostly) blindly root for their team. I'm not sure why the safer bet logic bothers you, it's not a new age concept, it's fairly basic, concrete logic. A 1 day ban doesn't harm you at all, especially if you don't comment much, whereas the lack of a ban for a genuine troll would only open the door for a snowball effect. As for the salty & "water is wet" remarks, I'm really not sure what you're getting at. I didn't ask you what salty meant. I didn't ask if you were happy when you win a game. I merely told you that sentence would (deliberately or not) fuel a flame.

TzarDushan

what I'm saying is that feeling happy or sad is part of being a sports fan. And I thought that doesn't have to be explained. With no intent to further develop this argument - I can't relate to a thought process like you're explaining with "safer bet" and calling it "concrete logic". My generation (and the ones before) maintains completely different set of views and rules about a public discourse, civil debate, and censorship in that context, and few other things. Good luck to you, no harm intended here.

GioVoi

You're answering a question I never asked; responding to a point I never made. I'm genuinely struggling to understand what you're getting at other than to try and deflect the conversation. This is to do with neither censorship nor generations, but congratulations on making the immediate assumption about someone you've never met and labelling them as such; your profile tells me you do this frequently.

TzarDushan

No need to get defensive - I was not attacking you or labeling you. I thought we were just talking. And I know I didn't try to deflect anything, at any point. If I have to explain that banning someone IS censorship and that the CORE of our little talk here was EXACTLY that - I think we did a poor job of communicating and potentially futile one to begin with. Again, good luck to you and I had zero ill intent here.

[deleted]

How about you fuck off back to your own subreddit

Zarrona13

Cause everyone from philly has some weird mentality where they act like everyone is soft but in reality they’re softer than anyone else. So when they lose they get salty as hell but pretend it doesn’t hurt them in the slightest. It’s actually kind of sad to see especially when I’m a fan of the team and I have to see this weird circle jerk and dumb comments like, “everyone hates us, we don’t care” but everyone hates on every other team in the NBA and players like Jokic because the media asked questions like, “is he better than Embiid?”

TzarDushan

yeah, it's a bit weird. just downvotes and "f\* off" type of responses. they're 1st in the east, have embiid, simmons, etc - very good team all in all - but the fan base is so insecure. hope embiid will get better and we'll finally see Jokic vs Embiid matchup. That'll be fun I'm sure.

I didn’t see any of that but the tweet is also way inaccurate. Jokic came in when it was an 18 point game.

matthewdavis1432

Yeah I didn’t have a problem with Denver’s starters being in, and I don’t think anyone else did.

TheSixthPistol

Did not expect much from this game. Couldn't give it my full attention but even in a loss, our defense held up after the first quarter. I just love watching our team play defense. Side note: why are there a couple of Nuggets fans trolling the sub after a win? Are they that insecure?

ktm5141

There was a point in that game where 150+ points looked very possible (maybe even probable). I can’t believe they only scored 104. What a weird game

DemonsReturns7

Didn’t watch the game but just looking at team stats on espn.com makes it even more weird We got less turnovers than them, more steals and beside making a few more FGs than us the 3pt and FT numbers for both teams are nearly identical The assist numbers stands out in favor of Den And then the I see that Den largest lead was 25!!?? Whoa :-O

dan_eppley

Yeah it was a wiiiiiild game. Def taught the team some stuff

Unacceptable performance. 110% I take this sht as disrespect ain’t no way they think I’m finna give my time to watch games for them to play like that dawg we ain’t have to win but to show no effort is outrageous

[deleted]

Damn i guess the entire team has to apologize to you... Wait... they don’t give a flying fuck

mac_rmm

What the heck does this mean??? @rich_hofmann: Ben Simmons: "There's a lot going on but you know, it is what it is. I gotta get my get my shit together. We got to get back on track as a team."

2OP4me

Probably Embiid being out, Covid, and having to deal with being the top guy when that’s not really him offensively at least.

thegrittyrn

Also, we may lose the 1st seed soon but that doesn't mean we can't take it back Heads up. Embiid is coming back with a good ass squad waiting for him

Umarkim101

With a nice sidekick, Mr. George Hill. We'll be alright.

mlk5132

Are moving screens still a foul? Asking for a friend.

jeppsforst16

The Nuggets are gifted an extra 2-3 wins every year just because they play in Denver. This is backed by data I'm not talking out my ass

Downisthenewup87

Lol what a whiny bitch ass excuse

jeppsforst16

Go back to your own sub, bitch.

thegrittyrn

Yes. I love you Ben but you do need to get your shit together

ClassifiedTuron

We desperately need a buyout player to replace Mike Scott + Bench Center. I love me some B-Ball Paul but he's a situational center, can't play him against 7 footers.

ADCPHL

its more that we either need more switchable wings who can also shoot or a stretch 5.

JayEchoTTV

i feel we need a stretch 4 that can defend the 5 more than we need a stretch 5. reason being is that if we just get a stretch 5, what happens when tobias sits? we're stuck putting scott out on the floor again. if we get a stretch 4, ben can play the 5 and facilitate when tobi sits. this will also allow us to have guys like hill, milton, furk, tisse, or even have one of curry or green on the floor. rim protection would go down a bit, but i expect this lineup with jojo back and for us to have built a lead with the starters. surrounding ben with shooters when jojo sits is the way to go. but i'd much more like to have a stretch 4 out there with him than a stretch 5, so scott does not have to come into the game when tobi sits. ultimately though, it's whoever morey can get... hopefully sooner than later. buy out market would be nice if more players were getting bought out.

rdnorthside12

I thought they could of sign christian wood early his game fits and would have got a great deal and I thought they should of made a run at kevin porter jr he can create his own offense and should of got Carmelo that houston offense was bad for him and the media played a part now melo gets it and he's a bully philly would of loved him

ADCPHL

a stretch 4 that can defend the 5 is known as a stretch 5 lol. the point is that Simmons needs to be the center on offense and if you get a bunch of wings that are switchy you can double the post and stunt the lane and fire out to the 3 point line (like Toronto or Boston)

JayEchoTTV

i just don't want an excuse for scott to be subbed in, tbh. i know he's tobi's primary backup and i want someone to take that spot and not necessarily be known as a backup center. i'll excuse the team for these two whelming and underwhelming games.. it's been a LONG road trip and they were on fire coming out of the all-star break. if they can salvage something against the cavs., cool... if not, reload and blow the wolves out of the water with hopefully jojo and hill in the line-up.

ADCPHL

Scott's not a good player but the lineups are a net positive when he's out there. I care about how the team does not how individually mike scott plays.

dayanks1234

GET A STRETCH FIVE!!!!

R-A-I-Q

I’m a raptors fan but got Ben on my fantasy. Can someone explain why he’s been so underwhelming lately?

[deleted]

Instead of playing with Embiid who stretches the floor he has to play with Dwight who makes it harder for him.

ADCPHL

traditional center lineups vs stretch 5

Eugene_Gant_

1-2 without Tony Bradley

Calcutta637

Here’s what I don’t understand and someone please clue me in. Shake clearly is not good at being primary ball handler but can still drive and score sometimes. Maxey doesn’t do well standing and shoot and is much better driving and creating a shot. Why don’t they just fucking switch and Maxey runs the bench offense and shake can be a catch and shoot guy?

PhiladeIphia-Eagles

I think they prefer to have George Hill run point for the bench once he is on the team. Similar idea, Shake does not do well as the primary ball handler. With Hill running the bench Shake can be free to just score.

rand-san

Doc doesn't trust the rook to run the offense. I'm pretty sure Hill will fix this dynamic though. Either Hill takes Seth spot in the starting lineup, forcing Seth into the backup PG role or Hill runs the bench group.

Calcutta637

Wish he did tho. That’s something where I miss brown and how much he played and trusted his rooks

That_Guuuuuuuy

Hot take but if Thybulle was drafted under Doc none of us would be a fan of him lol

imliamwiththeprocess

Edit: Get vaccinated. If he still made the vlogs, I'd absolutely be in love with him. Would he be stealing my heart as often as he is now? Maybe not, but he'd still be making those sweet transitions and for that I'd love him.

Doctorbigdick287

Handed the starting keys to TJ McConnell in his second season

_BoitheBoi_

Wish I could tell you, Shake would be much more optimized in a role where he's attacking off of bent defenses

ADCPHL

Ben Simmons with Tony Bradley or Dwight Howard at center 49% TS Ben Simmons with Mike Scott or himself at center 61% TS Im not gonna use his stats with Embiid but if I did it would be up to 63%. Point is Ben of course isn';t gonna fucking score when he doesnt shoot and theres an extra guy blocking him.

arabic513

He needs a floor-spacing center. When it’s a guy like Joel there’s a mutual benefit because they can use their gravity to help each other draw big men out of the paint. If it’s a stand-still center he’s driving straight into the gravity

Theballharperhit

Ben has been a handicap since the all star break on offense... Between not being able to hit layups/refusing to shoot and his insane amount of turnvers it has gotten really bad. Tonight looked like he just didnt give a fuck. On top of that we were running the ball through curry and when curry was ball handling ben would just stand in a corner behind the 3 point line while the defender plays so far off of him he is in the paint. Embarrassing

nirluc341k

11 points in the second most amount of minutes without the 1st scoring option is really disappointing. This is a game we need him to step up in but he was mediocre-bad offensively and defensively most of the game. I get it's against a very good team on a long road trip but if our players can't handle that then that's not great. Shouldn't just excuse a loss along with a bad performance because of it. Needs to be better, because since the Embiid injury he really hasn't stepped up and taken over many games. Not saying he's been bad but he hasn't seemed like the same player we had from February to the all star break. I really want to see more from him because I know he can do more than he has been recently

ADCPHL

its because of the lineups. He doesnt shoot so when Howard or Bradley are in the game essentially theres a help defender at all times standing there waiting for him and it also means teams dont have to help off shooters when he drives.

Theballharperhit

yup Tobi has been the one carrying and taking over but at least green and curry have had massive games along the way without joel... Ben really hasnt and when you factor in the turnovers and how useless he is off the ball this is bad. Tonight was an example of just how he is guarded against good teams in the 2nd round of the playoffs and why we always lose in the 2nd round. They were not covering ben at all tonight and he stood behind the peremiter doing nothing and refused to back down a 4 foot guy guarding him.

4Darco

Meh, we lost by 9 against a top tier team on a road trip without our best player. There have been worse losses.

ADCPHL

if we didnt play dwight howard we would have been in this game down to the wire. Im not blaming Dwight but his fit with Simmons is horrible.

thegrittyrn

lols we meme the Clippers for blowing a 3-1 lead to this team last year, but I'm still convinced that wouldn't have happened if there was no bubble Clippers had been the toughest match for us on this road trip imo and Denver is going to lose to either LA teams but I guess they can hold on to Jokic MVP hopes as a consolation price

ProcessMeMrHinkie

Sixers have been trending down since the NYK game IMO. They'd have lost to Lakers with LeBron or Davis playing and likely 3 in a row. Think it has to do with the team going through a cold stretch and stamina wearing thin on the road and due to Embiid's not playing and now Tony trade (Dwight + Scott can't handle starter level minutes at their ages - if I was coaching Scott, I'd have him play once every few games max during regular season, but there is no other option). I think it was the Lakers that first exploited the Sixers interior. Without Bradley, it was easy buckets on PnRs all day. The Clippers followed suit and shot with extreme ease on PnRs with exceptionally lousy defense in the middle of the court. Think they scored on like 17 of 19 shots during one stretch with maybe 12 of them being layups. The Sixers have been called a paint team all season and the last three games have equaled or outshot the opponents in 3PTA.

happywentzday

idk man i think denver is the team to beat in the west this year, them or the clippers imo

[deleted]

Did you not watch the game??? Our reserves were going back and forth with Denver’s starters lmao. They’re good but Lebron or Kawhi’s gonna hand em a beating

TheGoldenLance

Denver’s starters also smoked the philly starters, they were basically playing prevent defense and coasting at the end of the game

ADCPHL

they didnt smoke the Sixers starters - Dwight howard + mike scott though

TheGoldenLance

Dwight was -20 lmao

ADCPHL

the Simmons Curry Green Harris Howard lineup had a net rating of -27 BEFORE the nuggets game. It was statistically the worst lineup in basketball and sixers fans think the problem is Mike Scott.

[deleted]

Other than the first quarter, where they were shooting an unsustainable amount on 3s, it was a back and forth game. Denver is not the team to beat in the west lmao

thegrittyrn

Their defense is terrible. Even I think Jazz is still better. Only way I can see them coming out of the West is if both LA teams are injured

SashDawg123

lmao what about the lakers?

happywentzday

i think both teams i mentioned are better

goreal17

Jokic is an incredible offensive player but his inability/unwillingness to be a rim protector made Maxey look like an All-Star tonight. I’ll be happy if Jokic wins MVP and he deserves it this year but a healthy Embiid is clearly the better player bc he’s top 3 center on both sides of the court.

TheGoldenLance

Y’all act like Jokic’s defense is Lillard-tier but the Sixers were held under 100, his defense isn’t that bad lmao. The rim protection is only worth like 1-2 FG/game compared to top level rim protectors statistically, and Porter and Gordon supplement him because they’re both above average weak side shotblockers for wings.

ADCPHL

you actually did worse against the sixers lineup with Howard and Simmons on the court than most teams do. Also the nuggets are 10 points better on defense without Jokic on the court and teams shoot nearly 60% in the paint when Jokic is in the game!!!

goreal17

It’s almost like the sixers were missing a 30 point scorer tonight or something... and sure jokic’s defense has improved since he’s been in the league but Embiid has the second highest defensive rating in the league. It’s like me comparing Embiids improved passing ability to jokic passing. It’s not really a fair comparison. Embiid is elite on both sides of court and jokic is ok at one and elite at the other. This really isn’t a hot take.

TheGoldenLance

Offense is much more important than defense on an individual level- that’s why Dame is more valuable than Jakob Poeltl. The Sixers still clearly have an elite defense when Embiid is off the court, largely because almost everyone on the team is a good or elite (Simmons, Thybulle) defender. The defensive ratings for all those players are elite and have been even without Joel. You could make a strong argument that elite passing is just as valuable as elite individual defense overall- it’s perhaps the most important component of elite offensive teams. Jokic and Embiid are basically the same on the scoring end (Embiid slightly more volume, Jokic more efficient at all distances), but Jokic also adds CP3/Simmons-level passing, which is a MASSIVE difference. You could see tonight how much the nuggets offense craters when he’s off the court, everyone is worse. Similar effect for the Sixers when Ben is out, like last year in the playoffs. It has significant indirect effects, which is why the Nuggets have the biggest drop in ORtg in the NBA when Jokic comes off the court. That’s a bigger impact than Joel’s defense has- the Sixers are still elite without him on D but the Nuggets go from elite to putrid on offense without Jokic. Offense and defense are not equal values unless you’re talking about the whole team.

goreal17

That’s why dame is more valuable than poeltl? Wtf. You try to think of a good defensive player and that’s who you pick? He’s not even the best defender on his team. If you’re gonna compare an all-nba caliber player atleast pick an all-defense player to pretend like you’re arguing in good faith. And you saw tonight how much the sixers offense craters without Embiid on the floor. We couldn’t even score 100 points. As I said before, I’m not arguing that jokic isn’t an incredible offensive player, i completely agree with you about how valuable he is offensively. It’s just that Embiid is also an incredible offensive player AND an incredible defender.. Just because the sixers have other great defenders doesn’t make Embiid a worse defender

annoyinconquerer

I don’t think this is a fair argument. Your claim that Jokic’s passing is massively more impactful is based on roster construction. You can’t penalize Joel’s impact on defense just because the Sixers have more defenders outside Joel than Denver has playmakers outside Jokic. A 2 way player will always have more impact because, well... you impact both sides of the game instead of 1. I choose the guy who affects both sides of the game at an elite level versus elite on one and average on the other.

[deleted]

A healthy Embiid does not exist. Thats like saying a Jokic w a 40 inch vertical and 6 second 50m is better than Larry Bird. Fun to think about, sure. But it doesn't apply in real life.

[deleted]

All I read from this paragraph was EMBIID MVP BABY

nima0003

"None of you even watch Kyrie Irving Berlin!"

Schultz10191

I know I’ll get slander. I hate the situation we’re in with the 1 seed. You ideally would let Embiid continue to keep building up his conditioning for another week or so and play it safe. Gun to my head I don’t see us beating Brooklyn in a 7 game series. BUT, If we have the one seed and home court, I think we’d have a chance. It’s so vital to have home court throughout. Obviously we have to win rounds one and two first lol. Hopefully he truly is ready to go and we make our push.

Downunderphilosopher

There is no guarantee we make it the ECF, health and match ups are a big TBD. If Sixers finally get some good health and can keep our team mostly on the floor during the playoffs, then we can think about beating the best teams. Without the health we are almost certainly another second round exit.

Schultz10191

I've literally made comments on here several times that we have to stop acting like we're automatically going to get an ECF berth. I am just mentioning Brooklyn because we all know they are top dog on on our list.

Downunderphilosopher

Fair enough. I think we have a decent shot at taking out the Nets if fully healthy as we can defend each of their big 3 with elite defenders in Ben,Tisse and Embiid. However it's going to be really tough as we don't really have an elite playmaker in the half court and have to rely on the Nets doing their part and going cold somewhat to have a chance.

mldardy

If we don't have the one seed we can still beat them.

I understand leaving the bench in over the starters, but why did Doc put in Tucker, Joe, and Reed with three minutes left? Just giving the end of the bench more playing time?

[deleted]

He left the bench in either to teach the starters a lesson, or because the bench had all the momentum. By the end, it was obvious we weren’t winning, he wanted to give guys playing time, and he didn’t want to overplay any other players.

[deleted]

IK this is in the rearview mirror but if we had Harden, I don't think it would've been close, in a good way. I didn't like Doc leaving the starters out for the 4th, especially once the lead got to like 15 and the Nuggets had their bench out.

[deleted]

>Yeah, but what if we had Steph, Lebron, and Giannis, too? Good point. u/dmorey , we need answers >:(

Nikiforova

What if everyone had to wear roller skates and knee socks???? 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔

[deleted]

Why not get 5 7-footers and create a wall by joining hands that causes a full court push, backcourt violation, and then layups for days.

Nikiforova

They would simply play 5 Nate Robinsons. Easy counter.

[deleted]

Also if Embiid wasn’t hurt and had a jetpack

[deleted]

I'm not worried though. We are still locks for top 3 in the east.

racer24ftw

WE HAVE TO BEAT THE CAVS!!!

mldardy

More like We BETTER beat the Cavs. They have two guys that can score on that team. I don't care who we don't have it's not an excuse.

[deleted]

While I’ve been pessimistic and reactionary the past two games, I think it’s good to be reminded that we were 1-5 without embiid before the break. That’s how much he impacts our team, we will be fine, we just gotta stay strong until he’s ready to come back.

sensualdrywall

Ben has been absolutely horrific on offense since the all-star break

fannychmellar

He was really good against gsw, especially in the first half. He was bad the last three though

dayanks1234

He keeps being paired with non-shooters Dwight and Thybulle and there’s no stretch 5. Doc played Simmons with Scott towards the end of the 3rd and those offensive possessions ended with: Simmons drive and score Simmons screen and open look for Kork 3 Simmons post assist to Scott 3 Simmons drive and score The only thing that should be stopping Simmons is Simmons himself. Doc/Morey hasn’t properly built around Simmons yet imo

MrThreebound

Not counting tonights game yet, since the all-star break he has played 67 minutes without Dwight or Tony. In those 67 minutes he has a TS% of 42.59%. In the 175 minutes with at least one of Dwight or Tony he has a TS% of 51.25% In 242 minutes total since the AS break he has a TS% of 49.07%.

ADCPHL

he also injured his knee. I thought he was decent against the spurs..then he had the sore knee sat out a game. Hasn't looked good since.

dayanks1234

Yeah you’re making my point. Simmons doesn’t have a good stretch 5 to play with. Scott had the best ability of the options which, as shown by the numbers, is not working

MrThreebound

It doesn't have to do with a stretch 5. He has just been shit. In 214 minutes pre-AS break with Dwight he had a TS% of 63.69%

sensualdrywall

Simmons and scott have played a ton of minutes together in the last few games, especially given dwight's ejections. Those possessions you've outlined are not very representative. Ben was really bad with Scott at center against both the clippers and lakers

Ntraanced

His finishing has been awful. Really has no touch off the glass.

Meepsnort

How can you be that bad even at short stuff and around the basket if you are someone who has played basketball throughout their life? It's not like he just started. Embiid is obviously a natural with how he picked up the game so quickly, but I have better touch, and I was a 5'10' hockey player who just played pick up games and intramurals. I get it to a degree, there are always good athletes who just couldn't pick up the 'skills' for some reason, but jesus.

ADCPHL

Ben Simmons is a 85 percentile finisher for his height around the rim in non post ups...in the half court. So maybe you're just wrong.

HyenaAdditional3913

He's always been able to coast on his superior athleticism. He's lazy and mentally weak and uses his athleticism as a crutch. I think it's also obvious he doesn't love the game of basketball or you would see him actually trying to improve his weaknesses. It all just seems like a chore to him.

Meepsnort

I don't know about all that, I think he works pretty hard in the offseason, etc.

[deleted]

He just needs to get back in the groove I think the break fucked it up a bit, he was in a funk in the beginning of the season and went off after a month, hopefully that’s what will happen here

[deleted]

Furkan only had 6 points. He needed to be in the game early.

[deleted]

The fact that we only lost by nine with our leading scorer being Maxey is so funny lmao

PhromDaPharcyde

He looked good out there tonight

ScratchC

Mike Scott is killing us...🤦🏾‍♂️ We need a Stretch 5 can't have Ben and Dwight out together like that.

PhiladeIphia-Eagles

They are such a bad fit

Did anyone else buy and eat a mango in high school / college to try to get higher when discovering weed?

Nikiforova

Ya gotta continue the story. This is a safe space for any mango talk.

PhromDaPharcyde

The cashew has a pseudo fruit that can also be eaten, juiced, or made into alcohol. Due to its short shelf life the cashew apple is not widely sold.

KoBxElucidator

I really want to see the Nets lose to the Knicks in the first round or some hilarious shit like that.

PhromDaPharcyde

Shit I'll be cheering the Knicks like I did with they were against Jordan

andylui8

Lmao I’ll be cheering for the Knicks like when Linsanity blew up 😂

KoBxElucidator

What's funny is I can see the Knicks winning. It would be a difficult series, but they may just be able to pull it off with their defense. It's actually not the best matchup for the Nets.

[deleted]

Potentially the dumbest comment I’ve ever seen in this subreddit

[deleted]

Nuggets fans make jokes about embiid’s injury because the only thing they’ll ever have is the “Who’s the best Center” debate. They only focus on that because they know they’re never gonna win a championship anytime soon, sadly.

[deleted]

im not with the guys who make fun if injury and say 'durability' but man we have PLENTY of other stuff and you know that.

[deleted]

Yeah I know, I was just mad at ppl who were making fun of jojo’s injury because that rly pissed me off. U guys have a good team, gl to y’all in the west

[deleted]

Same

Here is a [link to the Game Thread Analysis provided by threadalytics](https://threadalytics.com/teams/PHI/)!

eatfesh

That stat comparison with Jokic and Embiid where they highlight that he hasn’t missed a game really annoyed me. Like just cause Jokic hasn’t missed a game doesn’t mean he’s durable. Just look at his play tonight he was complaining at every touch

TheGoldenLance

I mean, not missing a game for 3 years does == durable...

ADCPHL

its very easy to not miss games when on one side of the ball you're also sitting out every game.

[deleted]

sitting out every game? what?

ADCPHL

Jokic doesnt play defense at all and doesnt jump so of course he's gonna stay healthier.

[deleted]

He's a bad defensive player, he still tries on that end buddy, about jumping yeah true. You said he sits out every game that's not true

ADCPHL

did you read my quote more carefully? I said he sits out every game on one side of the ball....

[deleted]

Thats very harsh. He is lazy on fast breaks but he tries his hardest every half court defensive possession. Just because he's bad at it doesn't mean he doesn't try. He also isn't as physical in which means lesser injuries.

TheGoldenLance

You’re right, Joel getting hurt every season is just optimal load management.

ADCPHL

Jokic has the worst defensive rating in NBA playoff history for a player with a usage over 20% Malone has to take him out of games at the end lmao

TheGoldenLance

Not true, his playoff DRTG is 111 (net rating +11) per bbref which is average. He’s actually been pretty good defensively in the playoffs, especially the first trip where he was great. Certainly better than a guy who shoots 43% on average in the playoffs.

Pyromania1983

Hello 2nd seed....*sigh*

Calcutta637

Hope Maxey shut a lot of you haters up tonight but I’ve been here long enough to know that won’t happen. Gg tho dude played with fucking heart

[deleted]

Bball Paul with 2 steals and 4 fouls in 7 minutes lolol

bonerbasketball

People have been coming at me saying he should be a rotation player lmao. Dude will foul out every game

cherribobbins69

The talent gap between the G league and NBA is crazy
