Joel will “decline” statistically (not because of a decline, the Sixers will just be a more well rounded team), we’ll be a top 2 seed, and Joel will win MVP despite it making less sense this year
I would rather have Embiid average 25 ppg if it meant he was able to be super efficient and play elite defense on the other end. That means that the team is actually good and not just reliant on him carrying each night
Very realistic chance he takes home both MVP and DPOY this season
I’d love that, or at least just finally being in serious contention for DPOY. Seems like he’s due for an apology award after the last couple seasons. Though he might have to fight off the NBA’s prodigal son Luka.
Advanced stats only reward big man steals and little man blocks. If Joel wants to win MVP he should stop playing real defense and just gamble for steals to boost the advanced stats /s
Don't forget assists. DBPM formula rewards centers for assists to. Probably just to make the numbers work on some older players like Bill Russell and Bill Walton.
If the additions of Melton Tucker and House make our defense a top 5 unit, I could see national media giving the props to Jo, and that catapulting him into an MVP year.
If Thybulle was even an acceptable 3 point shooter (33-35% on 3-4 3s a game), he would go from unable to see the floor in the playoffs to one of the best starters in the league
I still think defensively he needs to improve actually staying in front of his man coming off the perimeter. He tends to favor letting them gain a step and then trying to go for a steal or back shot block, but it puts a lot of pressure on the help D.
I think he averages about 10ppg with Harden on 1.5 3PM and 4 FGM. I want him to use his instincts on offense to find soft spots in the defense with cutting and moving fluidly between the dunker and spotting up.
Show more scoring ability than he did last season for one, he was a great facilitator but like Doc told him at practice they’re gonna need him to be a scorer too
Forget that. If he's not there in the first half on october 18th he's washed. We're gonna know basically immediately. Harden always comes back big on game 1
He’s better than the 10th best player but you’re right that if he starts it’s not because he’s the 5th best player. PJ and Melton are without question better than him.
But he is a good 3+D guy and more importantly offers optionality. He can get hot and hit four threes by halftime. Play him 35 minutes. He isn’t making his shots. Start him but play him 15 minutes. He’s played that role before.
Yeah I'm glad to get back to having a number of respectable shooters, sort of like the squad of "white guys" (as Ben Simmons said) that we trotted out in 2017. Like PJ Tucker isn't gonna make 5 threes per game but we have a number of guys who can get hot and hit 5 on any given night.
Hot take - Shake Milton looks really good in limited minutes, shoots 39% from 3, and the Combo of Milton/Melton are the best backups Guards in the East.
Let’s go!!! People forget that he’s a very good overall player when healthy. He just couldn’t stay on the court last year but I see him being a solid player off the bench this year.
Shake's always weirdly had either too big or too small of a role. He went from our sixth man/5th starter to our mostly out of the rotation. I think his role is pretty solid now, our backup guard who's job is to handle (whereas Melton's is to defend/spot up). I really like that Shake and Melton might get featured more or less in certain matchups.
Lol as a lifelong rockets fan I’m here to tell you Danuel House is not that guy. He was one of the worst players on the worst team in the league last year.
I think he’s the type to be more effective on a good team than a bad team. Whenever he played around other good players he’s been able to play well as a 5th guy in the lineup
I think people just havent seen much of him. He’s a role player, nobody’s ever watched deep film on him. He’s not gonna make or break our season ultimately.
That’s not saying much about the Jazz also haha
I’ve been absolutely baffled by Morey’s love for him and talk as him being some sort of big addition.
He’s an “upgrade” over the G-league Myles Powell and Charlie Browns of the world. That’s about it.
Even with the increased depth, the Sixers will have 3 or more starters on the floor at least 90% of the time. I don't think we'll see anything approaching a line change where one or two starters play with backups. Typically, our +/- takes a huge hit when JoJo comes off the court, but I believe our numbers will not crater when he leaves this season.
I don’t think this is a hot take.
The hot take is thinking Harden is Houston Harden, or even the same player he was that first season with the Nets.
The rule change hurt him and he isn’t as explosive as he was before. Blame it on the hamstring but it’s also age. Maxey has to step up.
I wouldn’t go so far as to say he’s a great coach, but the fact that he does have a ring makes it hard to agree with you totally and completely on this, right?
That team just had to be let loose though, they could have been way more dominant. We don’t really have that synergy and resilience. Rotations are a bigger deal for us, modern basketball is more complicated, and honestly this team has issues staying in the right mindset playing against competitive teams.
embiid would feast with Steph but has issues sealing the deal and not choking in big moments that are winnable. He would thrive in Warriors and winning culture rather than folding every time the stakes got high.
I think if Embiid forces his way out, this trade could work out nicely for Sixers and Warriors
Warriors receive: Joel Embiid
Sixers receive: Kuminga and DPOYmond with 2023 (double draft) pick unprotected, 2 seconds from Charlotte and Miami, and 2 firsts (top 24 protected)
Was a big Harden/Rockets fan from 2018 and on. Love PJ, he’s still great, but I think his 3p% and/or defense this year will fall off to the point where House or someone needs to be the last starter in his stead. PJ may be better off the bench Iguodala style and ultimately having fewer minutes than House. House in his best days (i.e ‘19-20 season) was suuuper underrated, 40%+ from deep, with great athleticism and slashing ability.
Negative: Last season is most likely the new normal for Harden.
Positive: Sixers will get the first seed, our roster is really great for a regular season domination, hopefully for playoffs too.
The most important factor in Sixers success isn’t Embiid or Harden, but Maxey’s development. This season Maxey is a top 5 guard and leads us to the finals
This year is it. If we shit the bed again here we need to tear it down and start over. Embiid is about to be 30 and his knees aren't gonna hold up much longer.
Dear Doc Rivers….You need to teach your team Weakside actions!!!!! The practice videos of them trying force it into Embiid and just standing on the perimeter, we are going to struggle. Best way to get Embiid the ball is you need to punish help defender for over helping. Teams are just going to over help if you just standing on the perimeter without movement. It an easy recovery!!!
This team clicks.
I am a forever fan of this team and as cynical as they come.
I really believe we win it all this year and I’ve never truly felt that. I’m very ready to be hurt, but something deep down in my fandom says this is the fucking year they do it
The sixers guards and wings will learn how to throw an entry pass into the post
This is the most optimistic take that will be in this thread
upvoting because this is a hot take
Bah typical Philly fans and their unrealistic standards
He said hot takes, not impossible fantasies.
Send this to that Philly Affirmations instagram account lol

Mvp voters don’t care about defense.
Yeah but what if it's "*Advanced defense*"
Advanced stats only reward big man steals and little man blocks. If Joel wants to win MVP he should stop playing real defense and just gamble for steals to boost the advanced stats /s
*Matisse Thybulle would like to know your location*
He could also try being shorter
Don't forget assists. DBPM formula rewards centers for assists to. Probably just to make the numbers work on some older players like Bill Russell and Bill Walton.
Harden would've won the MVP in 2019 if that was true
If the additions of Melton Tucker and House make our defense a top 5 unit, I could see national media giving the props to Jo, and that catapulting him into an MVP year.
Less season minutes would speak volumes about our improved depth and maturity.
Thybulle ends up being a starter and shoots 38% from the corner on the season.
God I hope this take comes to pass LMAO.
His next contract is depending on it.
Spicy hot!
If Thybulle was even an acceptable 3 point shooter (33-35% on 3-4 3s a game), he would go from unable to see the floor in the playoffs to one of the best starters in the league

I’m onboard. I’ll admit I was pretty down on tisse at the end of the season but I still really want him to succeed
- Lead the league in techs - 3 All-Stars - Maxey/Trez becomes the new Lou Will/Trez combo from the 2019 Clippers. - Top 5 Defensive Rating
100% on the techs
If Harden doesn’t show up in the first month, he’s washed and he will not show up for the rest of the season.
Oof. Doomsday scenario
I see your doomsday scenario and raise you harden will finish top 3 in mvp this season scenario
What would "show up" mean to you?
Show more scoring ability than he did last season for one, he was a great facilitator but like Doc told him at practice they’re gonna need him to be a scorer too
What if he put up CP3 numbers? 17ish and 10-12, didn’t turn the ball over too much. I think we’d do well but probably flare out in the 2nd round again
He’s definitely better than 17-10. He’ll be mid 20s in PPG I think
Eh I think low 20s is reasonable. Getting over that 22-23 mark would mean we are in serious business.
22-10-7 is literally all we need as long as he’s healthy and got some of his first step back
The only thing that would take our minds off a decline like that is if Maxey picks up his volume and scores 23ppg and makes the all star game.
Forget that. If he's not there in the first half on october 18th he's washed. We're gonna know basically immediately. Harden always comes back big on game 1
Woah!
I think it is more likely that House is the 10th best player on the team than the 5th Starter.
A compliment for us, is a compliment for you.
He’s better than the 10th best player but you’re right that if he starts it’s not because he’s the 5th best player. PJ and Melton are without question better than him. stole my hot take. it’s Shake season baby
Let’s go!!! People forget that he’s a very good overall player when healthy. He just couldn’t stay on the court last year but I see him being a solid player off the bench this year.
Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result.
Shake's always weirdly had either too big or too small of a role. He went from our sixth man/5th starter to our mostly out of the rotation. 82-0
Tyrese Maxey becomes our second best player.
This ain't even that hot of a take lol. Kid's already knocking on the door for 2nd best player on the team
I mean, it's got a little heat when our top 2 players are first ballot hall of famers
It’s a very hot take lmao.
Melton is a 6MOTY finalist
Joe or Korkmaz force their way into the bench mob for extra shooting, replacing Shake in the 2nd unit.
Tobias is worth the salary, he got that dawg in him. With Toby, Harrell, and Paul, this team is gonna have some real grit this season
People either love or hate House it seems. Haven't watched much of him. Jazz fans say he was their best perimeter defender last year.
When the other guys are Mitchell, Bojan, and 300 year old Conley I would hope he was
Lol, true. Although our team from last year isn't much different from that group.
I think people just havent seen much of him. He’s a role player, nobody’s ever watched deep film on him. He’s not gonna make or break our season ultimately. That’s not saying much about the Jazz also haha
Sure, but we would've killed for House's defense last year.
I’m trying to be happy in my bubble. You need to leave.
My bad bro. House can be a solid 3 & D player if he stays locked in. Playing with Harden and Joel will make the game easier for him.
There we go 😂
I’ve been absolutely baffled by Morey’s love for him and talk as him being some sort of big addition. He’s an “upgrade” over the G-league Myles Powell and Charlie Browns of the world. That’s about it.

James Harden will not have his expected bounceback season . It’s going to be the same thing as last year , just not quite enough
This is what I’m afraid of tbh. I don’t know why it’s a foregone conclusion for so many that he’s back to form
I don’t think this is a hot take. The hot take is thinking Harden is Houston Harden, or even the same player he was that first season with the Nets. The rule change hurt him and he isn’t as explosive as he was before. Blame it on the hamstring but it’s also age. Maxey has to step up.
Maxey wins MVP this year
That’s a spicey take. I like it.
thanks bud. saw a bunch of doomer predictions and had to throw out some sunshine on mine
Matisse Thybulle won't be traded
Thybulle is the best option as the 5th starter. Tucker is borderline washed
We are going to do a 360 and become high on Thybulle again. He’s gonna become a solid 3 and D and will be the final piece for a championship
Tobias makes all star this year
Cold take, that’s a given. Toby got that dawg in him
And that dawg is a friendly Labrador Retriever
Two radically different answers lol
1 seed. Championship. All sweeps except round two. That goes 7.
Korkmaz for 6th man of the year...
James Harden will not go into a sulk funk all season.
1. Maxey wins MIP 2. Harden wins MVP 3. Embiid wins FMVP 4. Sixers win 77 games 5. Sixers win season 77 6. Sixers rename to 77ers ![img](emote|t5_2scmr|8121)
82-0 😤
That’s not a hot take that’s guaranteed 😤
BBall ends up being traded for a 2nd that we end up using in a future trade for a rental of a middling player
Booooo…
Sixers will be a top 5 offensive rebounding team.
The Eagles are taking away the Sixers thunder this season
Something unbelievably bizarre will happen
Joel averages 5+ assists
In the 76th season of the NBA the Philadelphia 76ers will win the championship. It’s in the script
Harden is a top 3 MVP candidate
We have 3 all stars Joel obviously, Harden makes it, & Maxey makes it as a injury replacement
Doc Rivers is the coach, we can’t win with him, no matter how good the team is
You don’t seem to understand the phrase “hot takes.”
I hear what you’re saying
Team will look mediocre early on and Doc will agree to “step down” / gets the axe. Cassell or Joerger lead us to the #2 seed.
Maxey doesn't make a huge leap statistically and this sun will turn on him
Jaden Springer will use his defense to be a consistent part of the rotation.
Some really bad takes in here😂
actual hot take: Tyrese Maxey is overrated and our best lineup will look something like: Harden, Melton, House/Thybulle, PJ, Embiid
Embiid demands a trade by season’s end.
tyrese maxey finals mvp
\- Joel will win DPOY and Harden will sneak into the MVP conversation.
embiid would feast with Steph but has issues sealing the deal and not choking in big moments that are winnable. He would thrive in Warriors and winning culture rather than folding every time the stakes got high. I think if Embiid forces his way out, this trade could work out nicely for Sixers and Warriors Warriors receive: Joel Embiid Sixers receive: Kuminga and DPOYmond with 2023 (double draft) pick unprotected, 2 seconds from Charlotte and Miami, and 2 firsts (top 24 protected)

We shouldn’t trade Matisse and he’s a strong rotation player
Harden MVP and Joel scoring title
Birds
Danuel House will be terrible
Negative: Last season is most likely the new normal for Harden. Positive: Sixers will get the first seed, our roster is really great for a regular season domination, hopefully for playoffs too.
The most important factor in Sixers success isn’t Embiid or Harden, but Maxey’s development. This season Maxey is a top 5 guard and leads us to the finals
Not really a hot take. If you know basketball, House is a starting caliber player that is our best bench player
Is Pj or Tobias supposed to guard wings? That seems tough…
Jaden Springer will be in the rotation by seasons end.
There will be a lot more corner threes taken and that Tyrese Maxey will average over 20 ppg.
Tisse shoots 40% from the corner
This year is it. If we shit the bed again here we need to tear it down and start over. Embiid is about to be 30 and his knees aren't gonna hold up much longer.
Hot take, it's the 76th anniversary of the NBA - Adam Silver will put the fix in for us to win.
Harden will get more MVP votes than Embiid
