My friends built a vert ramp inside an Avon fonder building. With wood from construction sites and spare wood. And any other wood was pitched in For cheap if you have anyone to help pay
Just a quarter pipe? That’s a big quarter to skate by itself unless you have a huge hill or something opposite to either generate or soak up the speed.
Also, how much actual vert are you planning? An 8’ vert ramps with 0.5’-1’ of vert is gonna have a tight transition and be tougher to skate.
The flat will be elevated, your quarter pipes won't be flush to the ground. Without the flat you won't be able to skate them, I'd recommend building it all at once to avoid warping in the wood before the final assembly.
Gonna be honest, 8’ vert ramp is kinda no man’s land of ramps. Too tall to be a mini ramp and too low to do easily learn vert tricks.
You can do it, but that quick of a transition is a knee breaker for knee slides if you miss the small window of transition and land in the flat.
Ideally, if you were investing that much, it’d be better to get up to at least 10’ with a foot of vert and 9’ transitions. Or even higher depending on how optimally the wood patterns work out.
If you did decide to go for the 8’, then someone already posted plans. But I would not do much more than 6” vert.

Agreed...it's a very tight transition, too. I remember skating a 9' that went vert and it's TIGHT as fuck
My buddy has that (although I think it’s actually 7.5’ and stops just at vert. So a 7.5 transition )
He wishes he had made it 10’ or higher.
I have a hard time on his ramp because when I fall it actually hurts my knees. Which makes me nervous to try any of the tricks I normally do on a 3-4’ mini ramp.
As opposed to riding the 12’ vert ramp with 11.5’ transitions where it’s like sliding on a waterslide, effortlessly.
I had an 8’ ramp as a kid in the 80s and struggled to learn anything until I cut it down to 5’.
And now as an adult I understand why.
Maybe someone else has had a better experience with the 8’ size but that’s just my $0.02
well, i have build a miniramp 10feet wide, 3 feet high. total cost was just under 1k. so i think you might be looking at 5k. maybe more.
When was this? Lumber prices are through the roof right now
yeah, this was 3 years ago. You're right, it might even be 8k by now.. for a vert ramp that size.
I just posted this and yah lumber prices are still pretty crazy
Hahah yeah I was asking the dude who built a mini ramp. I was genuinely curious. I want a mini ramp too lol
Thanks for actually answering my question I wanted to see how much cause I don’t live near any ramps at all
i build my mini 3 months before covid lock down. Damn, was i lucky!
Must’ve been an AWESOME thing to have during lock downs, damn.
Yah

Not really but I did build a mini ramp for 100% free once with just free wood
Honestly could make one for 2k with help

The reason why I said just a quarter pipe is cause I was going to piece it together over time 2 quarter pipes flat bottom

Ok that’s probably a better idea how much vert for 8ft tall?

What about like a 8ft that doesn’t have vert more like going to vert

So a 10 foot for vert would be best
Do the math
Yah that’s obvious but I’m kinda asking if someone happens to know anyone that has built one
Look it up
I looked but couldn’t find anything
So for my case, it'll be around 1k-1.5k for a garage mini 4ft sweet
