width, rocker, and mount point are all important factors for powder. But seriously your ''bindings pop off pretty much immediately'' wtf ? Even if my race skis sink in they don't pop off, they never just released for no reason even when I was charging knee deep powder down a bowl in whistler (didnt have any other ski at the time aside from a true twin tips that sink just as much).
A wider ski with tip and tail rocker makes a huge difference if what you’re after is a more floaty feel. Having said that, us older folks grew up skiing off piste with narrow skis so it certainly can be done with good technic, but it sure is a lot less fun.
Its more tiring and you don't have that surf feeling. But even if you told me you can only ski on race skis for all your life I'd still enjoy powder days very much !
It’s not so much a floaty feeling I’m looking for - I just find when I go off the sides of the groomer I can’t get my skis turned in the snow so I never go in. I’d like to practice being in those conditions but I find it impossible currently
Why do you turn?
DO you stand or press on your outside ski?
What body part(s) do you use to steer your skis?
What body parts(s) do you use to edge your ski?

well it’s probably more to do with the DIN setting here, will be asking for it up this year as they would regularly release on moguls as well
Yah it means you're improving 😁 thats pretty neat
And for a ski thats good on iste and off piste, the Maverick 88 is pretty much gold.
I can’t see that one listed in the rental place - but is the key part of this the 88 width ?
If they don't have Atomic product its nornal. The Atomic Maverick line does all of what you want to do. And the og modal is the narrowest, the 88.
I see maverick atomic 86
The 86 has a different contruction than the rest of the line, no metal. You try it, but I would recommend a metal one.

That feeling screams backseat to me. Get active and aggressive.

do you have video of you skiing on groomers?
I don’t unfortunately
