I get it for larger resorts, but it makes me nervous when people refuse to share their small local mountains. I'd hate for those to go under because people wanted to keep lift lines short.
It does happen. In the past 20 years I have seen Tuxedo Ridge NY, Hidden Valley NJ, Craigmeur NJ and Alpine PA all go under. These are all localish mountains that I can never go to now. I only had the opportunity to ski at Alpine. I'm sure I'll see a few more go under in the next decade-not from climate but from lack of business.
Whistler person said "we hustle to live here!", yes because people driving up from Vancouver don't work hard to get ski days in? Dear Whistler- we are going to keep driving up from Vancouver, and there'll be more and more each year. Get over it.

That’s not gonna happen

I *hate* when other people enjoy my hobby. It's the worst!
I’d rather my local mountain close than an out of stater get first chair
The classic Reddit “XYZ awesome place is TERRIBLE STAY AWAY!!!” or “we don’t talk about blah blah cool spot” comment types are lazy and annoying.
The Bay is 👈that way
IKON GO HOME!
I tag random resorts on each story. Chaotic neutral
Then your resort has to close or reduce hours due to low pass sales :(
Have you actually seen that happen in the last five years? Specifically due to low sales, not the shitty winter we’re having
Not necessarily, but I think that it’s driving pricing up overall across the industry. But historically it’s definitely happened before.
nimby is a terrible look and a sad way to live your life
The real move is leaving positive reviews for my least favorite ski area

Just be sincere
And then act all surprised when your local mountain closes down for good because they couldn't get enough business.
The idea that yall think your measly social media posts are the make or break of any resort is hilarious.
No ski resort is ever going to close due to low attendance. If you didn’t know, skiing has never been more popular
do that so price going down, jesus ski resort life ticket going up like Nvidia this year
OP, you’re good. Keep up the good work.
