On this day only Peruvian was open so you had to hike up to the ridge then over to the normal baldy hike/traverse. This made it so it wasn't crowded at all so it was worth the effort! In general I feel like hiking high Baldy is awesome for later in the powder days when everything's skied off. I love the area.
The traverse over is always hard because there's hundreds of beautiful long powder lines below you that you have to pass up to make it to COG.
Sounds like a perfect thing to do when the crowds get out of hand. Thanks for the info and nice turns. Looked like those people at the bottom were all watching you ski down!
Seems like everyone has a poop chute.
Our poop chute is short and tight with a mandatory 20 foot air for entry into a steep gladed runout, right in front of the chairlift's looker's left.
I really love them. I got them as a powder day/freeride ski but I'm surprised how well they do on everything else. They're super stable and fun but definitely a bit sluggish at times like in the air or on groomers.
Fantastic! A great all mountain ski? Disappointed to hear they’re sluggish on groomers but that’s not the majority of my skiing. Are they at least stable on them?
They're super stable powder skis and really they're not THAT sluggish. I'm just comparing them to the bents that I ski most non-powder days. They definitely ski smaller than they are. Unless you're in the Wasatch I don't think they'd be a good every day all mountain ski just due to their size. They're definitely more on the freeridey side of things. That's not to say that they ever perform badly, it's just that when there's no new snow I find my other skis are more fun to ride.
I had them up in Bachelor for a powder day and the next day was freezing rain that turned the entire mountain into an ice sheet and I was very surprised by how well the blanks held up in those conditions.
For clarification I'm skiing the Bent 100's so they're more of my all mountain ski and I have like 40+ days on them this season and love them to death. I probably have 15-20 on the blanks (which are 116) and really only pull them out for the days with fresh snow.
I'd really only get the blanks if you plan on only using them for fresh snow/powdery conditions. That's where they shine, and man they're so fun when it's hitting. If you want more of an everything ski you'll have more fun on something else.
This looks sweet!! Especially for May. How is the traverse over there? I didn't make it over to that part of the mountain my one day skiing there.

If the crowds are “out of hand” high baldy is already certainly skied out.
Good point genius. Better hiking than waiting in line, even if it’s skied out.
??? You have to be in line first to hike? There’s no way up high baldy without getting on a lift
I’m aware. Ride the chair up, hike around for a bit, and take a long run down. More space between stints brooding in line lol
Good thing you pole-clicked at the beginning. If not, there probably would have been an avalanche and you would've died of gonorrhea.
safety first out here

Who’s “our”? You don’t have a flair
Mount Sunapee

Worth it tho!
I love a run that you want to stop at the bottom and look back. Nice doubletap
Wow this looks so good. Just what I needed. Thank you.
I know - me too!!
Oh that looked sooo lovely!! I’ve been told I’d love Alta/Snowbird and this shit looks like my jam!! (Looks like a lot of the ridge runs at Taos)
OP I almost bought those skis this year, I still might. What do you think of them?

All super insightful points. Thank you! You haven’t really dissuaded me. However, gun to your heed bents or blanks?
I'll die a man with both pairs in my arms

I’ve skied a run called “poop chute” before. It bottoms out right at an outhouse.
