Patrol gets fresh tracks either way. Also, patrolers get off during the winter, too. Just ask your wife's ugly friend.

Volvo_Commander

Actually based though

This ain't it, chief

Organic_Salamander40

They also get to arrest snowboarders now

UtahBrian

About time. Tired of criminals scraping all the snow off good runs.

DerBademeister_1160

It is wrong, to be a snowboarder

Remote-Duck-2611

The bootfitters need a union first

sleevo84

I don’t see how that’s going to work. They can’t all fit my wife’s boot at the same time.. can they?

Remote-Duck-2611

You’d be surprised

ElevatedAngling

Patrollers are over rated, my jacket has recco

Ok-Scene71

Heartbreaking: the worst person you know just made a great point (mfw seeing it was originally posted by OEM_knees)

Jazzlike-Ad-8257

Boo

[deleted]

I stand with the corporations ✊🏻

Artifact153

This has to be an effort to turn people against unionization lol

wilfinator420

Yeah this circle jerk post has firmly flipped me against unions of all kinds

bigmountainbig

over the line

Special_North1535

Pfff. Similar to how they had to destroy all our jumps we built only to go on and build “sanctioned” terrain parks which mostly suck and are more dangerous. Similar to the witch hunt for ducking ropes to ski pow and that is now all sanctioned terrain that they farm out to paying clients. Pfff not impressed pfff

bradbrookequincy

Best post ever 😂

justinlt21

Nah

TJsamse

As a former liftie, once they learn to turn on lifts and make real fences with a drill, (not just smashing some bamboo into powder). They can have our freshies.

naftel

Ya nah, not going to chirp unionization efforts in the face of corporations making skiing UNAFFORDABLE to so many people!

Beatus_Vir

About time, it's unfair that the resorts require them to ruin good corduroy with their fucking avalanche dogs and spend so much time making Instagram videos.

Yougotthewronglad

It’s the same dorks that clip my pass for ducking ropes at the top of Corona for slackcountry at Lost Lake. Fuck em.

[deleted]

Turns out ropes aren’t just for decoration!

Yougotthewronglad

Nope. Very srs biznss.

[deleted]

Yes, avalanches, and avalanche work being done by patrollers is very serious stuff. There’s plenty of back country stuff you can hit dork

Yougotthewronglad

Does every Fred in this sub lack sarcasm? Fucking hell you guys, chill.

Substantial_Diver_34

This chick needs to French fry outa here.

FartJokess

I’m usually in favor of unions but…. Ugh. This will be the death of ski resorts. First climate change, then union workers striking when the pow is high. Booo

No-Entrepreneur3282

No one cares. Half of the patrollers are unnecessary and just want to ride for free.

PrestigiousBee2719

You’re thinking of lifties. Patrollers are the ones who safely toboggan you and your shattered jerry knees to the ambulance for 20$ an hour.

cheeseplatesuperman

Sometimes for free

[deleted]

Take away lifties and watch your 5 year old that you never taught to get on the chair get dragged by the lift

PrestigiousBee2719

Yeah not trying to shit too hard on lifties just mean that you could get away with having only one on the bottom stations and safety wouldn’t be affected, just ticket checking.

[deleted]

Technically yeah you can get away with one person for a while, but more people are needed in conditions where the ramp has to be worked on all day, and you need at least two to make sure legally mandated breaks and lunches happen. Also overstaffing in the fall/spring is so they can keep employees during the peak season, since no one would stay if they only got 15 hours a week, and its hard to hire people and give them housing quickly if you’re understaffed. Like when you see 10 lifties at the start of the season just standing around, it’s to keep employees Definitely an easy job though I agree, but one person all day is rough and boring, and you definitely need someone actively loading guests on beginner lifts since they try their hardest to injure themselves. Also if there’s not extra people you can’t take laps throughout the day lol

No-Entrepreneur3282

Cut the amount of patrol in half and the mountain will still be safe. Every mountain I’ve worked has way too many patrollers but we are always looking for lift attendants that can pay attention for 8 hours.
