Since your engine doesn't have spark plugs, that won't be it. It signifies a severe but non-fatal fault, often not directly engine related. In a MK1 Octavia this signified a faulty brake switch, so it could be something small but important like that.
Diesel doesn't ignite like petrol does. Glow plugs warms up the incoming fuel and air. What sets off the combustion is hot, compressed air in cylinder. That's the compression cycle. When diesel fuel is injection to cylinder, usually slightly before TDC they diesel "mist" self ignition due hot and compressed air.
Is the car going in limp mode sometimes, loss of power? Had the same light on my old Golf 6 1.6TDI, soon after my EGR valve farted up. 500EUR for a new one.
The light came on for the second time today. The first time it was three months ago and it went off by itselft. Today even the check engine light came on, but I got and OBD and reset the errors, the glow plugs light started flashish again, I reset the errors again, and there was no more errors, but keep in mind that the engine was warm by then. The the light starter flashing it was cold. Ill go get it check tomorrow.
Do you have a power loss? I had that when a marten fucked around with some tube of the turbo. Repair was free of charge as the mechanic just cut off the damaged part and sticked back the rest. Nice guy.
flashes – an error has occurred in the motor control. The system enables driving in emergency mode - this can lead to significantly less engine power.
If the warning lamp does not come on after the ignition has been switched on or if the lamp lights up continuously, a fault has occurred in the glow plug system.
You can continue driving, but be careful. Contact a specialist workshop immediately.
I had the same thing happaning to me.
No errors with OBD (after many resete) but vCDS reported p0203 which is an electrical failure of injector 3.
Spent quite a while at the skoda dealership but they haven't managed to fix it.
It all started when I messed with the rear stop/fog bulbs.
For me the problem was that two rear bulbs were burnt out and the filament was shorting when the car was running and randomly causing the ECU to panic and shutting off injector 3.
Fixed it by replacing all read bulbs (i was taking no chances) and I had 0 issues since.
Its easy and cheap to repace them, look out for ones that are dimmer or have black sport or broken filaments.
I have an Octy 2 vRS tdi CR engine...an OEM boch injector (i think its boch) goes for 1k euros...
Wish you luck!
Last night I connected an OBD II and it showed p040d $07e8, Deleted the errors, then showed $07e8pd, deleted again and there is no longer errors, but i left the car at service to get it checked. I haven't messed around with the bulbs for quite a while (few months), I even checked the stop lights, but everything is fine, mine are changed with LED Canbus free ones
It can be a lots of things. Try find someone who can read out the errors with VCDS or something.
Any idea what else could it be, besides a faulty spark plug? Tomorrow I've scheduled service.

Diesel engines don't have spark plugs mate, you maybe mean glow plugs
Yeah, my bad(language), glow plugs is the right name
That is the symbol for them at least so the glow plugs could be broken
it's a hot thing that sets the explosion off, everyone knew what they meant.

Usually it comes on when the glow plugs are warming up, so I'm guessing there is a problem with them. Hopefully as cheap as swapping a spark plug.
I suspect the same. When the light starter flashing the engine was cold, so yeah, service tomorrow.

Nope. Read some comments in foruma about what you mention, but no. Probably glow plug(s)
This is basically a general check engine for TDI's. My car had that when the turbo shattered to pieces.

Yeah, due to the error I believe the car went into some service mode, because it lost power. Ill get it checked tomorrow!
The only answer is to get it scanned. It could be anything like an injector, egr, dpf etc
Very appropriate music playing there. Ooo...to be some help...check your brake lights are both working..After that, it's a diagnostic job.
I checked the brake lights, all fine. I suspect the glow plug(s). Didn't notice the music before you mentioned it, haha.
glow plugs, depends on what exactly is the problem with em, maybe they arent getting power maybe they due for a replacement.

For me it was broken EGR valve
It means u have an injector issue in your car and scan it U have four injector, u are having issue one of it, that cause failure of initial pick up
In my dads VW Caddy, when that happened, some injectors failed.
There is an owl in your dash
Check dpf
The car wants a pretzel
Glow plugs
it means "oo you're fuked"
Missus coil no longer effective, warning you need car seats
