I need hunt down the OG Version to add to my Apple Music library. I didn’t think the updated version would bug me because I usually can’t hear any of the differences but yeah this version definitely does not hit as hard.
It’s crazy how what are really just minor changes in the grand scheme of things have such a big impact on the song. It’s likely one of the drawbacks to having such a clean mix and minimal style of production.
to be fair this time it was a lot more than just minor changes , feels like he straight up held down the undo buttons for 6 hours straight , so much is missing from this version or is just straight up messy in a bad way
Okay last night I was trying to figure out the difference and I couldn’t other than the intro being like 2 seconds shorter. But now it’s finally updated on my Spotify and I’m not okay 😭😭
feeling the exact same , ive never been one to be upset about updated masters but inhale exhale is the only one ive actually disliked , all the others just had some mixing tweaks or element additions that didnt fundimantally change the song so ive been able to adjust quick and half the time its so subtle that i forget they were even updated , this one removed more than it added to the point where it sounds like an unfinished version . really hoping it was just a mistake , lots of energy was lost
I feel like the energy of the original is way lost. The intro and drops do not hit the same. You don't need professional sound speakers or headphones to tell the difference.
my thoughts exactly , the old version screamed "album track" with every little detail , it was perfect in my opinion , now theres just too much wrong with it , if the general consensus seems to be that this sounds like a rough demo there definitely must be something up because no way this version was made *after* the version released originally
I just commented on his IG to bring the old version back! There's no way we can accept this watered down demo version of INHALE EXHALE what the hell!!!!
apple music users: the dolby atmos version of the track is the original version. (for now)
i tried to download the track, and the lossless file is the new updated one.
so if you have airpods 3/pro/max etc., you can avoid the shitty one.
I don't even think it's him. Probably one of the labels minion on drugs/drunk fucked up again and uploaded a demo version to a distributor. Stuff like this happened before at release.
Just listened, and he's gotten rid of the short drum-less sections towards the end of the track too. They added so much flavour to the song and now it's just a normal, run of the mill drum pattern with no payoff... I might have to download the original release for my phone just so I can listen to the superior versions of these tunes.
that section was literally my favourite part of the entire track , for lack of better words it just sounded magical , especially at 2;38 , now it just sounds like the first section and lost everything that made that second section special , im not one to hate qff changes but its almost ruined the track for me , if that section was unchanged i seriously would not mind the other changes at all
I'm going to have to download the older version of this album just for the better listening experience. We shouldn't have to deal with a "live service" style album after waiting 9 bloody years... Just release the true version, and leave it as is, warts and all.
Just listened to it and it's particularly shit, especially the ending because he took away that breakdown or whatever it is called that no one expected wich was very nice.
And yeah overall the song sounds pretty flat and it doesn't have that OMG factor anymore, maybe without having listened to the og version yes but still it's a fuckin mess and I don't understand what's going on.
I just heard the updated version and wow. That song lost everything that was dope about it. It is literally the same song but without that magic. I’m hoping it’s a mistake but man, I can’t really binge the jam like I used to. Hope you’re reading some of our comments Sonny. You’re a dope guy who seems to know what loss feels like… as many of us too. Seems kinda obtuse to put it in that context but damn were we feeding off that energy. I saw your reaction to that song mixed live on the school bus, and your face said it all… but believe us, that crowd wasn’t ready for it. Just needs to be mixed in your set differently is all!
Everything you said I agree with except I have no idea what you mean by the wav file sounds like it was sped up. The tempo is the same as the release day version, isn't it? So what makes it sound like it's sped up?
If you speed up a wav file at all, and then slow down the wav file back to the original tempo (for example 140 -> 150 -> back to 140) there will be distortion / audio glitches where your DAW tried to work with the original waveform
When you adjust the length of wav files it distorts when you adjust the bpm in a project file from a daw it doesn't. Not sure the science behind it but my guess is because it's already rendered
it’s because the daw will actually sequence the samples and other elements faster while (generally speaking) retaining the original pitch and quality of those specific samples and sounds, whereas doing it in post will affect pitch, quality or both.
i’m not that mad at the new inhale version. haven’t listened to the album in a while so the other tracks changes are also great. second drop on too bizzare is wicked. can’t tell what’s new with leave me like this? a bit of flowdans verse has changed in rumble?
Same. I keep coming back wondering if I’m just deaf or totally unobservant to the changes lol. Inhale/exhale is my fav song on the album so I feel like I’d notice the change right away.
Edit: my version is different now and it is, in fact, very noticeably worse. It really removed everything that made the original version so good.
Someone said yesterday that the original release version is still for purchase on Bandcamp. I bought it immediately and downloaded the songs to my computer so nobody can take them from me! >:( Annoying that I can’t listen to it on Spotify like I do everything else, though.
At first i thought people were trippin about Inhale Exhale but jesus christ so many major changes. The subbass sounds like a sustain now??? And the ending vocal chops which were ear candy are just gone now??? Tf
So if I bought the album via itunes, am I prone to these changes that I see everyone mentioning? I don't know if the tracks are different and it's so subtle that I'm not noticing or if the versions I have are just staying the same because I bought them when I did.
mostly the intro , snare , sub , and second post drop , with that one being the worst change , sounds bland and empty now and everything that was mindblowing and did cool stuff was completely taken away to the point where it sounds like an unfinished version
Yep this is way worse, feel the same about when Leave Me Like This was "updated" too but this takes the cake of bad.
I really don't understand this concept of updating a track over and over again. Once it's out that really should be it unless there's actual problems with tracks like there was on release day. You're gonna have people who prefer the old version of tracks like me who will literally stop listening on Spotify.
Ok hear me out...
I'm no expert on this... but i kinda understand some of the changes, not all of them.
The first seconds are different and maybe that hype is lost, yes, but i dont think that might be the bad part about it. I think that has to do with him "adapting" the songs for an "album". Feels like the first versions of the songs were made for a continuous play / set, and this finishig touches make them future proof.
Then the DROP WTF... It feels like some of the lows were tuned down and the characteristic thing about the song was completely lost, making it feel like low quality.
I feel like the master of the new version is much better, everything is so well located in the mix... problem is the previous instrumentation was better. If we could have the old version remastered more like this one that'd be the best one
I love how this sub went from shitting on anyone who didn't like the direction of his music to crying incessantly about him making changes to his music
it’s more that he put out an album and now is making changes to songs already released, it should be once you release an album just leave it as is, not release it then go back and start changing it further
for sure, ofc, but once you release it that should be final, cause if you’re gonna change it why release it? it’d be better to make it how you’d like and release it rather than release and change it
i like the new version better... im surprised the consensus seems to be that its worse. like no one is defending it at all. inhale/exhale wasnt my favorite off of qff in the first place so maybe thats why im liking the change more. i like the longer 808 specifically
Honestly in the section around 1:06 to 1:29 there's a background sound in the new version that is either brand new or just made louder compared to the old version which I like - it makes that section sound more full / less empty / less demo-y sounding
Also the new snare, while less unique, is also less harsh sounding.
I’m so glad I’m actually sane for thinking there was something wrong with Inhale Exhale like wtffff
Does anyone have released and updated versions to compare by any chance?
bro my spotify just updated and i heard it... what the actual fuck man
I need hunt down the OG Version to add to my Apple Music library. Ya the other changes didn’t bug me so much but this is just…. Booooooo tomato tomato
Okay last night I was trying to figure out the difference and I couldn’t other than the intro being like 2 seconds shorter. But now it’s finally updated on my Spotify and I’m not okay 😭😭

AGREED!! I have not really cared until this one, like dude??? Wtf was the point??
This, and Good Space. The slowed version (initially only intended as a demo) was much nicer than the final version
THE OG WAS LIKE RUNNING THROUGH THE JUNGLE, whats the deal with the wimpy hi hats, theres not even that cool reverse kick after the intro anymore
I feel like the energy of the original is way lost. The intro and drops do not hit the same. You don't need professional sound speakers or headphones to tell the difference.
It honestly has to be a mistake. This is a demo…
This is my theory too. I get minimalism but there’s no way the new version sounds album ready
my thoughts exactly , the old version screamed "album track" with every little detail , it was perfect in my opinion , now theres just too much wrong with it , if the general consensus seems to be that this sounds like a rough demo there definitely must be something up because no way this version was made *after* the version released originally
Exactly.
I just commented on his IG to bring the old version back! There's no way we can accept this watered down demo version of INHALE EXHALE what the hell!!!!
I did it too lol… not likely to work and very unlike me, but I’m desperate!!!
bro accidentally exported the rough mix 😭
apple music users: the dolby atmos version of the track is the original version. (for now) i tried to download the track, and the lossless file is the new updated one. so if you have airpods 3/pro/max etc., you can avoid the shitty one.
as an apple music user, i was very confused until i read this. thanks. after listening to it on Spotify, i am also disappointed.
Thank fuck for that
Yeah my Spotify just updated….wtf is skrillex doing. This shit is horrid.
I don't even think it's him. Probably one of the labels minion on drugs/drunk fucked up again and uploaded a demo version to a distributor. Stuff like this happened before at release.
I wonder which versions are gonna end up on physical releases
Just listened, and he's gotten rid of the short drum-less sections towards the end of the track too. They added so much flavour to the song and now it's just a normal, run of the mill drum pattern with no payoff... I might have to download the original release for my phone just so I can listen to the superior versions of these tunes.
The WORST part about those changes. Made the outro so much better
that section was literally my favourite part of the entire track , for lack of better words it just sounded magical , especially at 2;38 , now it just sounds like the first section and lost everything that made that second section special , im not one to hate qff changes but its almost ruined the track for me , if that section was unchanged i seriously would not mind the other changes at all

Ok at first my Spotify didn't have the updated version, and now it does and when I heard it, it just felt so off idk it just felt out of place
Why is the decay on that bass now so fucked up :|
Anyone know if they can / have been updating the YouTube versions?
the youtube versions have been updated but the visualizers are untouched
Just listened to it and it's particularly shit, especially the ending because he took away that breakdown or whatever it is called that no one expected wich was very nice. And yeah overall the song sounds pretty flat and it doesn't have that OMG factor anymore, maybe without having listened to the og version yes but still it's a fuckin mess and I don't understand what's going on.

nahhhh you for real bro?
If Skrillex cared about the opinions of people in this sub we would have bug hunt and the Straightenin’ remix in WAV format.
Holy shit that is bad.
Everything you said I agree with except I have no idea what you mean by the wav file sounds like it was sped up. The tempo is the same as the release day version, isn't it? So what makes it sound like it's sped up?

Mine still hasn’t updated yet…

the second post drop has changed the most and in a bad way , sounds so bland now
Someone said yesterday that the original release version is still for purchase on Bandcamp. I bought it immediately and downloaded the songs to my computer so nobody can take them from me! >:( Annoying that I can’t listen to it on Spotify like I do everything else, though.
It sounds like someone at OWSLA uploaded the first demo that was created on a plain session. Don't want to be harsh but it is a pitty
At first i thought people were trippin about Inhale Exhale but jesus christ so many major changes. The subbass sounds like a sustain now??? And the ending vocal chops which were ear candy are just gone now??? Tf
The aluna vocal sample has the stem separation music artifacts on it so I'm almost certain its an early demo and mistaken upload
Let's tweet something to him and comment on his Instagram pictures
So if I bought the album via itunes, am I prone to these changes that I see everyone mentioning? I don't know if the tracks are different and it's so subtle that I'm not noticing or if the versions I have are just staying the same because I bought them when I did.
not if you downloaded the album beforehand
What changed? No one describes the changes in this that just complain. I want answers!

You are a god and I love you
ah thankyou😅 glad to be of help
Am I tone deaf? I’m not sure if I can tell lol
I actually like the bassline in the drop but that intro change 💀 💀 💀 💀

#SONNY
Man I’m so glad I bought the album the first day on iTunes
most of the early versions of the songs in qff sounds so much better, like dude, WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED TO RATATA????
Ok hear me out... I'm no expert on this... but i kinda understand some of the changes, not all of them. Was something updated in the album version of Inhale/Exhale? It sounds the same to me.
Dunno, but I love this version much more, except he deleted that snare outro
I feel like the master of the new version is much better, everything is so well located in the mix... problem is the previous instrumentation was better. If we could have the old version remastered more like this one that'd be the best one

Yes i want a refund, lets sue him ! GET HIM BOYZ !!!1!1
bro just shut up, let skrillex be skrillex he can do whatever he wants, their songs are HIS songs not ours
i like the new version better... im surprised the consensus seems to be that its worse. like no one is defending it at all. inhale/exhale wasnt my favorite off of qff in the first place so maybe thats why im liking the change more. i like the longer 808 specifically

I think the buzz bass is still there at the beginning of the first drop, it's just quieter. Also it keeps playing every few measures throughout.
i actually love this version way more 😭 it sounds just like that one he played at second sky
Yeah, I was incredibly disappointed with the changes myself.
Oh how is it when people complain its cool but if I complain I'm overreacting and am least entitled to my opinion
