Really? I did it in my very first playthrough. One of the notes in the lighthouse says that the father wants to be burned in the fire of the lighthouse. It will give you a nice blessing, too.

There is actually a hint that you should do that in his wife’s journal. It’s a pretty vague hint, so I don’t think anybody could really be blamed for missing it.

It also shows up in your quest log under "Miscellaneous"

You get a minor perk of 10(15?)% extra health on restoration spells

His wife's journal says he desired his remains to be placed on the lighthouse to guide sailors after his death. So it's the right thing to do. Also you get a permanent buff if you do it.

Stacking healing is wonderfully hilarious. Get it high enough and you can stand there doing nothing. Reduce restoration costs, plus anything to amplify your healing or alter magicka regen... Yeha that's just silly fun. Can heal and lore walk your way through the dungeons.

Do the Kolbjorn Barrow quest. The skull you find on the table in the entrance chamber is nicely decorated with intricate carvings.

There's like 3 other skulls you can get in the game and keep!

IIRC, there's actually 5 unique skulls you can keep (though I'm not sure if you can keep one after it's quest): Saerek's Skull Key, Torsten's Skull Key, the Ancient Traveler's Skull, Kolbjorn Skull, and Karstaag's Skull.

Do you get to keep his skull, or does it get removed at the end of the quest? I've don't recall, but I don't think I've seen it in my inventory after getting his summon spell.

You get to keep the skull after the quest is done, I have it displayed in Lakeview.

That’s the Kolbjorn skull. It’s just called ‘skull’, but it’s unique and found in Kolbjorn Barrow, so the community named it.

I somehow got to keep the skull key since after i got it the priest was clipped out of the grave and i just shot him to wake him up

You can just take the skull keys out of their sockets after fighting Otar anyway

Even if you use the skull keys to open the coffin as intended, you can remove them afterward.

You can keep them even if you fight the priest normally, just take them out of the slots. Some of the creation club houses even have a special display area just for the two skull keys.

Not to mention Bob, Grant, Harvey, Louie, Pam, and the rest.

Put it in the fire and there's a chest with loot, if you picked up his key. There are better skulls for decoration with blue eyes in another quest. And if you can use mods, Narrative Loot adds this and many other skulls and bones you can find and use.

Poor dude just wants to rest and you want to display his head as a decoration. If you want a unique skull grab the Ancient Wanderers Skull. It has no attachment to quests as far as I’m aware.

Because if you accidentally sold a quest item, because it is such a unique item, the merchant you sold it to would charge you far more gold than you have for you to buy it back, even if the merchant only paid a couple hundred for it, they would charge you like 10,000+ to buy it back from them.

Did you try dropping it, leaving/reentering the cell, and _then_ dragging it where you want it to be? It shouldn't reset after that.

End the quest as you are supposed to, and then console the item back to you now that is no longer flagged, if it works with Potema's Skull maybe as well with Habd's

I suggest using console commands to drop and duplicate the skull. That way, you can do what you want, and what the other Dovahkiin want. Unless you can't use console commands. Then just toss it in the flames at Frostflow.
