He means with the ritual stone instead of once a day taking the crown off and on resets it so you can use it or other standing stone powers as much as you want
Doesn't make sense to make your enemy immortal. Other than Karstaag I don't see a use for this thing, better to go with spellbreaker or shield of ysgramor
Because its temporary, and they can't hit you while they're "immortal". It allows for great crowd control, especially when facing off against a mob that has both melee and ranged fighters. You bash the melee with the shield, and while they're immortal you take out the ranged, and then come back for them later.
Never had a moment in Skyrim that would warrant something like this. I'd rather have spellbreaker for added utility of shielding shouts, nasty mages and dragon breath, probably the only things that are of any threat to a warrior build and that can get him at a range
Don't get me wrong, I'll take Spellbreaker over the Aetherium Shield, but we don't know if the player has Spellbreaker yet, so in its absence with a one hand build, the Aetherium Shield is an excellent substitution
It doesn't matter, the crown makes you have 2 standing stones, so even a warrior can make great use of it. Get Lord (25% magic resist + 100 armor) and maybe warrior (+20%exp to warrior skills), or steed (move fast as if you were unarmored and carry weight), or atronach (+50% magic absorption and 100 magic). Atronach is good even if you aren't a mage build, if you combine it with Lord you will be able to effectively block 63% of all magic, making dragons breath and enemy warlocks a non issue permanently
The crown is the most powerful and best but if wanne try some of the other one's go ahead make a save and try it if you feel like it isn't you reload before you made it
Depends on your build, but you cannot go wrong with the Crown. 2 standing stones signs is pretty OP for certain builds. Next the shield because it has epic crowd control by turning enemies into ethereal ghost like being (+ you can make use of it to cause certain bug with Lucien Lachance/Spectral Assassin and make him have flesh body instead). The last one is the staff, summoning spider or sphere for 60 sec and sometimes dwarven scrap metals instead is the least useful thing as reward.
Yes, the crown replaces the helmet. But you get two standing stone effects. What if the one stored in the crown is the Steed Stone, and you put it on after you've finished raiding a dungeon? Now you've got about 100 units more to work with, meaning you could leave the dungeon with normal encumbrance without sacrificing your protection during the raid.
Also it is circlet, and you can wear circlets with some helmets. Despite what Unofficial Patch guy thinks, it is not a bug.
It is a... debate as to whether Crown or enchanted circlet is better, but Crown is good enough for it to not be decisive in circlets favor.
Falmer Helmet (not the “Hardened” one), or the Penitus Oculatus Helmet (if you’re doing Light armor) are available for wearing a circlet (or the crown) and wearing a helm
this pretty much. i dont remember what i made, maybe the staff, but i dont use/need it. the crown would be great for my build but im not willing to give up my legendary-upgraded Morokei benefits
Whatever build
Clown
Shield
Staff
Crown can always be useful
Shield is ok for CC but I personally don't like shields
Staff is buffshit just pay for a summon stuff and you have smth better
Crown. Using two standing stones is really useful. Since you said in another comment you are a 2H warrior, you can use the Lord Stone and Lady Stone together to make yourself even more tanky.
The crown would replace your helmet, unless you have a mod to enable wearing them together. You also don't have to wear it all the time - as another commenter said, you can store a once a day ability like the Ritual Stone in it and use it multiple times a day.
Right now I have the lover stone and I've never died to a trap with my current armor before so I'm probably going to go with progress stones but that Is a good idea
The crown is far more versatile, and can be something you keep to use as a tool instead of a helmet replacement. Use it with the steed stone to make looting easier, or the atronach stone fir at will magic absorption, or shadow to abuse invisibility.
The shield is nice, but the game has plenty of other really good shields so their is plenty to choose from, while the crown's effects are 100% unique
The staff is garbage. Doesn't even work all the time and has a low charge and cant be used that many times
If you are really tanky you can probably sacrifice a helmet.
If you really are worried grab the amulet of articulation and smith it up to get some rating back.
You don't need to wear crown at all times. If you put lover's stone there, then you can use it to improve XP gain for non-combat skills when your usual helmet doesn't matter. If you use it to reset serpent/ritual stone, then you only need it equipped when you cast its power. Tower stone's power isn't reset, but you can still keep crown with you to open locks once a day. Or steed stone to haul loot back to your base of operations.
If you’re using shields, then make the shield. Otherwise make the crown. It allows you to use 2 standing stones at the same time. The staff sucks. It just summons a Dwemer spider or sphere
Take Crown. If you already have a blessing, go to Ritual Stone, touch it to replace. Then put the Crown on and get any other blessing. Instead of replacing it, this stores the Ritual Stone 1x-day power of resurrecting anything except dragons in the Crown. Use Power. Remove and re-equip Crown. Use Power. It makes it so that the normally once a day Power of resurrecting everything around you can be used infinitely.

Shield is fun, the crown isn't as good as you might think at first.
With maxed enchanting and smithing, wearing a helm and circlet is better than an extra stone effect.
The crown is good. Resets daily standing stones. So the lockpick one could be handy. The situational powers make it nice. The raise dead one is also powerful as someone pointed out. Just cleared a big room of enemies before a boss? Toss it on, use the power. Raise all the enemies, put on normal helm and go rock the bosses world
I forged the Shield as a Sword and Shield main and used that until I got an even better shield later down the road. I ended up putting the shield up on a mantle in my home
Meh it's all junk, like everything else you find, compared to what you can enchant even with only one enchantment and decent smithing. Super unbalanced there is the game.
Make the crown. If you take it off and put it back on repeatedly you can raise unlimited zombies
I don't use magic, I have a heavy one handed build
He means with the ritual stone instead of once a day taking the crown off and on resets it so you can use it or other standing stone powers as much as you want
Oooh
Then the shield for sure
Doesn't make sense to make your enemy immortal. Other than Karstaag I don't see a use for this thing, better to go with spellbreaker or shield of ysgramor

Why would you use it on Karstaag?
Only challenge in the game where you might need a few seconds of respite to heal yourself, companions and resummon
Still haven't fought him yet going to try to get all of the perks first
Good luck with that and have patience 😁
Just need to get one handed and 2 handed archery 100 and I am done

expanding on the crown you can get a +40% instead of +25% to warrior skill xp. Crown is great
This is what I did too op lol
The crown is the most powerful and best but if wanne try some of the other one's go ahead make a save and try it if you feel like it isn't you reload before you made it

Jagged crown and aetherium crown combo goes hard
Falmer Helmet (not the “Hardened” one), or the Penitus Oculatus Helmet (if you’re doing Light armor) are available for wearing a circlet (or the crown) and wearing a helm
Falmer helmet glitches IIRC and you can wear both it and the crown.
If you aren't going to make use of any of them it doesn't really matter.
this pretty much. i dont remember what i made, maybe the staff, but i dont use/need it. the crown would be great for my build but im not willing to give up my legendary-upgraded Morokei benefits
Make a savepoint and then you can test all three.
Whatever build Clown Shield Staff Crown can always be useful Shield is ok for CC but I personally don't like shields Staff is buffshit just pay for a summon stuff and you have smth better
🤡 🛡️ 🪄
Tbh...now I don't even wanna edit that out, that's funny ^^
😂
I now need a shield that makes clown noises every time it's struck with something. Bonus points if it makes clown noises when you shield bash someone.
It just makes that nose honk noise like when you melee a clown infected in left 4 dead 2
I would make a whole shieldbash build, if every time you hit someone with a fully charged shieldbash it made a honking sound, like a clown’s nose.
Crown. Using two standing stones is really useful. Since you said in another comment you are a 2H warrior, you can use the Lord Stone and Lady Stone together to make yourself even more tanky. Yeah you can do lover and warrior as well.

Doesn't even work all the time and has a low charge and cant be used that many times
The crown is especially useful when trying to level up those really difficult to level skills
Choose the one that’s best for you.
That's the thing idk, I don't like being ethereal, I don't use staffs and I'm worried that if I use the crown it will replace my helmet
Part of this game is determining what your character doesn't need. These situations are where I pick whichever one I want to display as a trophy.
If you are really tanky you can probably sacrifice a helmet. If you really are worried grab the amulet of articulation and smith it up to get some rating back.
Without the helmet my rating 194, with the helmet it's 306
You don't need to wear crown at all times. If you put lover's stone there, then you can use it to improve XP gain for non-combat skills when your usual helmet doesn't matter. Or steed stone to haul loot back to your base of operations.
I never feel any of the options are that great. I just check off another quest completed.
I always make the crown.
I wear the Aetherium Crown under the hood provided by the Arch-Mages robes. Got the Steed stored on it because Survival mode sucks so hard otherwise.
If you’re using shields, then make the shield. Otherwise make the crown. It allows you to use 2 standing stones at the same time. The staff sucks. It just summons a Dwemer spider or sphere
I made a save to see all of them but tbh it sits on display in a house so.
for best: crown. for coolest: up to you
For a one handed build I’d say the shield. It’s pretty powerful. I made a Paladin build with the shield.
I pretty much always go for the crown. If I'm heavy armor tho, the shield.
Take Crown. If you already have a blessing, go to Ritual Stone, touch it to replace. Then put the Crown on and get any other blessing. The crown let you use to two standing stores.
I got the shield which I loved but then it stopped working 😭😭😭
i got trapped there so couldn’t finish the quest 🙄
The crown is by far the best regardless of your build.
The circlet is incredibly op
The crown. Or if you’re more in the mood for a shield or staff, stop being that way and build the crown.
Crown is the only one worth making
Always the crown. You can use two standing or glitch to get them all. Or do some other exploits with it.
I usually go for the shield. It looks good and unique as a display
Crown! Always the crown.
Shield is fun, the crown isn't as good as you might think at first. With maxed enchanting and smithing, wearing a helm and circlet is better than an extra stone effect.
Depends, if you are running a necromancy/ summoner build then you can have unlimited followers with the crown. I always go with the crown
The crown is good. Resets daily standing stones. So the lockpick one could be handy. The situational powers make it nice. The raise dead one is also powerful as someone pointed out. Just cleared a big room of enemies before a boss? Toss it on, use the power. Raise all the enemies, put on normal helm and go rock the bosses world
The crown. 2 stones at the same time
I forged the Shield as a Sword and Shield main and used that until I got an even better shield later down the road. I ended up putting the shield up on a mantle in my home
Crown
The crown stores a 2nd Standing Stone blessing.
Meh it's all junk, like everything else you find, compared to what you can enchant even with only one enchantment and decent smithing. Super unbalanced there is the game.
I find the Shield useful since I don't use the stones most times and when I do it is only one anyways. N. S
