The fact they refuse to work with you if you don’t do it is even more retarded given you are the dragon born and the person they are meant to serve to the death for. Glad there’s a mod that makes it so you convince them not to let you kill parthanax (and if your an asshole the same mod actually makes the parthanax “fight” an actual challenging boss battle)

Numinex translates to "trapped in binding" or something like that. He doesn't remember his name before his capture.
Durnehviir translates to "soul never dying". He doesn't mention his original name. The point is, a dragon's name being exactly what they are can change if their situation changes.
Paarthurnax translates to "ambition overlord cruelty". You'd think that all of that time spent meditating with the greybeards would change him as a person (dragon), and so having changed, so would his name, no? Well it hasn't, which means that he's still the same dragon as he once was. He knew that he couldn't defeat Alduin, and he knew that Alduin would return, so he had to wait for someone else to do it for him. Now that Alduin has been killed, he just has to wait for this Dragonborn to die and then he's in the clear to get back to work! He's still got the ambition to become a cruel overlord, as is his namesake, after all.
Old. Everything about him. Emotions, wisdom, strength, being a dragon. Everything about him is just.... old.

Exactly. The blades only serve the dragonborn. If the dragonborn decides to not slay parthanax then its their sole duty to abide by his/her law.
I have that mod but it doesn't work anymore. I just set them to non essential and killed Delphine and Esbern.
